I Became the Eye Candy: Four Bigshots Claimed to be My Dad?
Chapter 699: The Move Looks Familiar
"Forget the clinic." Pockface shoved Skinny aside with his shoulder. One of his wrists was limp, the other arm drenched in blood. He glared venomously at the crowd. "Who the hell dared to meddle in my business just now? Show yourself."
The onlookers knew the rules of Dayu City, so they weren’t afraid of men like him. Still, no one wanted to waste their time on such a person, and the crowd began to disperse.
Pockface watched the crowd disperse, his gaze sweeping the area before finally landing on Ye Qianning, who was standing with her arms crossed.
"Was it you, you bitch?"
Ye Qianning shrugged.
"I’ll kill you!" Pockface bent over to pick up the dagger, but his wrist felt like it was broken—he couldn’t even hold the weapon. Gritting his teeth in fury, he snatched the dagger with his other hand and lunged at Ye Qianning.
"Miss, get out of the way!" Aunt Wang shouted frantically.
Ye Qianning stood perfectly still.
Before the man even reached Ye Qianning, the dagger was knocked from his hand. In the next instant, he was sent flying five or six meters through the air, crashing heavily to the ground and kicking up a cloud of dust.
Terrified, Skinny scrambled backward.
Pockface screamed in agony. He opened his mouth to speak, only to spray out a mouthful of blood.
He was stunned for a few seconds, unable to process what had just happened.
Four men in black, tight-fitting attire arrived swiftly. One of them planted his foot on Pockface’s back. "Disturbances are forbidden in Dayu City."
Ye Qianning watched the black-clad young man who had swooped down. He looked to be seventeen or eighteen. ’He doesn’t look like a government soldier,’ she thought. ’And that move he used to knock the dagger from Pockface’s hand... it looks very familiar.’
Her gaze then shifted to the other four youths in the same black attire. They were also quite young, handsome, and had cold, stern expressions.
Seeing them arrive, Aunt Wang finally felt relieved. She hurried forward and whispered, "Guards, it was Pockface and Skinny. They were trying to abduct the children."
Skinny bolted. But before he could take two steps, one of the black-clad guards blocked his path, hauled him back like a helpless chick, and threw him to the ground.
"Sirs, I wasn’t causing trouble! We weren’t causing trouble..." Skinny dropped to his knees and kowtowed, begging for mercy.
"Save your excuses." The lead guard glanced at the three children by the wall. "Trafficking children is forbidden in Dayu City. Men! Take them away. Cripple them and throw them out to sea."
Skinny froze, then started wailing. "Sir, we weren’t trafficking them! Pockface wanted to take them as his godsons, I just came along with him! We wouldn’t dare get involved in trafficking, we really wouldn’t!"
"COUGH, COUGH, COUGH... What trafficking? Is it a crime for me to adopt a few godsons now? Aunt Wang, you’re spouting bullshit! Just you wait, I’ll fucking kill you... Ah, the pain... It’s killing me..." Pockface wasn’t an idiot; he started shouting his defense while still coughing up blood.
"That’s right, sir! We know the laws of Nanyuan, and we know the laws of Dayu City! We wouldn’t dare traffic anyone, we wouldn’t!" Skinny kowtowed so hard his forehead started bleeding, putting on a pitiful display of being wronged.
"Pockface," the lead guard began, "you were sentenced to years in prison for child trafficking. Since your release, you’ve been contacting your old associates. All signs point to you going back to your old ways. Adopting godsons in the middle of the street? Who do you think you’re fooling? My men have had you under surveillance for days. Still trying to make excuses? Take them away."
Each guard seized one of the men.
"Sir, I’m innocent! Pockface threatened me! This has nothing to do with me!" Skinny screamed at the top of his lungs, struggling in vain.
Aunt Wang watched them being dragged away and breathed a sigh of relief. But then she remembered Pockface’s threat and grew worried again. "That Pockface has been trouble since he was a boy. Officer, please don’t let him out to harm people again."
