I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means
Chapter 1973 - 1059: Shirek’s Trade
Chapter 1973: Chapter 1059: Shirek’s Trade
Jonas City,
Lis looked at the shadow before him and didn’t say anything further.
Apparently, although the shadow before him seemed unchanged, it was as if it had been frozen by Lis’s words.
For a moment, the entire space seemed to have stalled.
A moment later, the shadow in front of Lis seemed to shake its head, sighing as it said:
"This is... Certainly unexpected for me!"
"Moreover, it seems you’re quite certain, no matter what I say, you won’t believe it."
"So, how did you find out?"
Lis didn’t directly answer the question, instead, he sized up the shadow before him.
Did you finally admit you are Shirek?
Though the other had admitted their identity, Lis was still quite curious about this current status.
Isn’t it truly worthy of the Powerful Divine Power of the Prince of Lies, Shirek?
If it weren’t for Lis, no one else could possibly recognize that this was Shirek’s avatar.
Though Lis was fairly confident, he hadn’t expected Shirek’s avatar to be so... bizarre!
After all, Lis hadn’t felt any divine pressure emanating from this shadow avatar; it seemed more like an aberrant monster than a divine being.
The reason Lis could confirm this enemy was indeed the Prince of Lies, Shirek, was due to multiple factors.
Firstly, to target the Pan Continent Mage Association and have such an impact would certainly be the work of a divine entity, most likely a presence with Powerful Divine Power.
Moreover, the divine beings now should be the evil gods within the Pan Continent Mage Association!
Secondly, the various occurrences this time were truly bizarre.
Even the spells of Councilman Mr. Stephens had no effect on that eerie shadow, beyond everyone’s expectations.
Even Lis couldn’t accomplish such a feat now.
He certainly could resist Mr. Stephens’s spells, but directly ignoring and immune to the spell effects was impossible.
Even divine beings in Gaia World couldn’t achieve such a thing.
This meant, surely, there were extraordinary factors influencing it.
Besides Gaia World Will’s influence, Lis considered the Magic Divine Position.
If it were Gaia World Will’s influence, as Gaia Guardian, Lis couldn’t possibly remain unaware.
But if it were the Magic Divine Position, that didn’t quite fit too.
After all, the Magic Divine Position was friggin in his hand now.
Excluding the possibility of orchestrating this himself, only one possibility remained.
Since Lis, after obtaining the Magic Divine Position, had sensed the trace of the Prince of Lies, Shirek.
Though Shirek wanted to trade with him, preparing to exchange Li Sizhi letting off his avatar, Lis did not agree to guard against the evil god.
Who knew what benefits Shirek had gained from the Magic Divine Position over the years.
Lis cannot be certain, but if anyone’s capable of this, it’s most likely Shirek.
Moreover, the divine domain of the Prince of Lies, Shirek, also encompasses shadows.
This relates partly to the eerie shadow appearing in Jonas City.
Of course, now that it’s certain this is Shirek’s doing, Lis became even more intrigued.
Even though he acquired the Magic Divine Position, he couldn’t accomplish what Shirek did.
This might be influenced by Divine Rank and strength, but Lis believed there were other reasons.
After all, even the former Magic Net Goddess, Mistra, hadn’t exhibited similar traits.
However, it was obvious Shirek came to Jonas City not to build closer relations.
Instead, this being was renowned for resorting to any means among the evil gods.
"A little trick, but chiefly because there are few divine beings capable of achieving this."
Lis looked at Shirek before him, speaking directly:
"So, you made the effort to come to Jonas City, what exactly do you aim to do?"
Though the avatar of Shirek before him contains considerable strength, Lis can still resolve it.
The key lies in the association mages devoured within Shirek’s body before him.
During Lis’s check on Yor earlier, he found the shadow didn’t seize her life directly.
The state of being devoured was more akin to a means of controlling them.
To Shirek, the mages of the Pan Continent Mage Association were hardly considered ants.
Given that, if Shirek went to the trouble of controlling these mages, there could only be one purpose.
To use them as hostages!
Thus, Shirek’s purpose seemed apparent.
"Of course, it’s for the Magic Divine Position."
Shirek said directly.
"Magic Divine Position? But didn’t that disappear alongside the fall of the Magic Net Goddess, Mistra?"
Lis’s expression remained unchanged as he spoke.
During the Dream World, Lis directly destroyed Shirek’s avatar.
In such circumstances, Shirek shouldn’t have known who obtained the Magic Divine Position.
Given the circumstances back then, Shirek should be unaware of Dream World too.
If Shirek knew the situation of the Magic Divine Position, he should have prepared to act long ago.
Even if he couldn’t break the special seals left by the former Great Arcanists, he should have left some trace.
