I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means
Chapter 1972 - 1058: Evil God’s Descent (Part 2)
Chapter 1972: Chapter 1058: Evil God’s Descent (Part 2)
The thick Shadow Power surged wildly, faintly revealing a dangerous and eerie aura.
Seeing all the shadows completely gathered, Lis’s expression was calm as he raised his hand and grasped.
The pale Power of Faith flowing through the sky instantly condensed and tightened, layering, intertwining, and solidifying around the outskirts of the wasteland.
Under Lis’s control, the Power of Faith formed ring upon ring of crystal-clear, heavy, and sacred patterned closed barriers.
The barriers were sturdy and tightly interconnected, completely sealing all entrances and exits to the wasteland, forming a perfect sacred cage.
This cage firmly imprisoned all gathered shadows within, eliminating any possibility of the shadow leaking or escaping.
At this moment, all the people and mages of Jonas City were looking towards the direction of the northern wasteland from afar.
Everyone clearly witnessed what had just transpired.
From the cleansing darkness by the Holy Light covering the city, to the endless shadows being forced out of hiding, to the shadows converging into a mountain and the Holy Light Barrier locking down the entire area.
The ordinary citizens could not comprehend the profound struggle of Extraordinary Power, they only knew that the mysterious shadows ravaging the city and causing panic were easily controlled and completely suppressed by their revered Fourth Councilman.
In the eyes of the people, Lis’s various methods of using Holy Light to purify and lock darkness were already miracles comparable to those of a god.
The lingering fear and unease completely vanished, and the entire city’s hearts settled down.
The citizens in the streets stopped to gaze, showing reverence, whispering praises, filled with admiration and gratitude.
The mages in the city were even more visibly shaken, they could more clearly sense the pure and powerful strength of Lis and the overwhelming and eerie darkness of the shadows.
Therefore, the mages who knew more secrets were increasingly amazed by Lis’s deep and unfathomable prowess.
The noise in the city gradually subsided, leaving only sincere awe and stability.
High above, Lis slowly moved, descending gracefully to float above the desolate battlefield.
He lowered his gaze to observe the shadow mountain below, constantly writhing and exuding endless evil energy, his eyes grave.
Lis quietly scrutinized the strange source completely sealed off, surrounded by a vast and sacred radiance.
The vast Power of Faith gathered around Lis’s body but did not immediately bring down a destructive strike.
With his current strength, completely obliterating this shadow entrenched in the wasteland was not impossible.
But his keen intuition restrained his impulse to act hastily.
After the entire city had gathered, the shadow before him was no longer the initially scattered, vulnerable shadow existence.
Countless dark forces layered and fused, causing this dark shadow to completely transform.
Although they were inherently fearful of the vast and pure Power of Faith, under the sealing and pressure of the Holy Light, they dared not expand indiscriminately.
Yet after being consolidated by Lis, the evil nature and corrosive power hidden within had already surged.
Now this shadow current was deep, with a hidden, violent and mysterious source of power.
If Lis were to forcefully purify it, it would inevitably require a corresponding expenditure of power.
Ordinary Magic Power poses no threat to this kind of shadow.
To expel and purify it, Lis’s Power of Faith is the only reliance.
Even if he could successfully eradicate the darkness, it would undoubtedly consume a large amount of Power of Faith; it is not as easy as crushing effortlessly.
This is a consideration of consumption that must be treated cautiously by Lis, who is climbing towards the peak of the Path of God Sealing.
The true reason for Lis’s hesitation to act was that he penetrated the heavy darkness surface and captured countless weak life essences within.
These essences were weak, ethereal, appearing and disappearing, tightly enveloped and imprisoned by the dense Shadow Power.
These life essences were identical to the previous anomalies experienced by Yor.
Lis instantly understood that these life essences trapped in the depths of darkness were the association mages who had mysteriously disappeared recently in the city.
They had not yet completely died but were devoured by bizarre shadows, their souls fallen and become captives within the dark cage.
If he were to violently purify the entire shadow with the Power of Faith now, it could immediately eliminate the dark crisis, but all the trapped mages inside would be swept into it.
They would be completely killed and buried, with not a trace of salvation possible.
As the council chairman, he would never outright give up on any mage in the association.
Lis focused for a moment, precisely locking onto hundreds of residual life essences, with a hint of Thought flashing in his eyes.
He restrained the killing power of the Holy Light, transforming the pure and gentle Power of Faith into countless threads of light.
These threads of Power of Faith cautiously penetrated the barrier, slowly stretching and infiltrating the boiling shadow.
These light threads were pure, with calming and purifying attributes, attempting to peel away the heavy dark barriers, separating parts of the shadow, and safely rescuing the survivors one by one.
Yet just as the Power of Faith light was about to touch the internal life essences, the shadow mountain below suddenly erupted in mutation.
The pitch-black darkness violently churned and boiled madly.
It was no longer the previous aimless undulating writhing but a violent agitation with strong specificity and resistance.
A chaotic, violent, frenzied, and immensely mixed spiritual wave suddenly swept out from deep within the shadows, like monstrous dark waves crashing against the outer Holy Light barrier.
This spiritual wave was filled with resentment, bloodthirst, devouring, and frenzied negative emotions.
The chaotic Spiritual Shock continually collided with Lis’s Divine Thought probe, forcibly blocking and tearing at the infiltrating Power of Faith, keeping it entirely on the outside.
Seeing this, Lis withdrew his power and did not continue to act, choosing instead to watch the changes.
Amidst the intense agitation, the shadow mountain several feet high began rapidly contracting and consolidating.
In Lis’s eyes, the sprawling shadows were frantically collapsing inwards.
The originally loose, bloated, and fluctuating dark body continually compressed in size while quickly gathering power.
Massive amounts of Shadow Power and other negative energy continually precipitated and integrated, all dispersed forces no longer chaotic and disorderly, beginning to concentrate towards the core of the shadow.
The shadows’ color also transformed from pitch-black to a deeply suspended ink-black, with the surface faintly flowing with eerily dark microglows.
With continued consolidation and compression, the shadow as vast as a mountain shrank continuously.
Bloated dark impurities were self-cleaving, leaving only the purest and most violent dark core powers.
After several breaths, the large shadow that originally occupied a vast area like a small mountain completely vanished.
All Shadow Power converged completely, eventually forming a tall, human-height pure shadow humanoid in the center of the wasteland.
This humanoid shadow was completely black and without substance, with no visible facial features, and unrecognizable limb details.
It was surrounded by intensely concentrated dark and eerie energy, causing the air around it to slightly distort due to the dense and mysterious power.
Compared to the previously scattered shadow haze, the humanoid shadow had retracted all its external agitation.
Seemingly calm and silent, yet the terrifying destructive force and dark nature contained within far exceeded before by a hundredfold.
Lis quietly observed all this, not acting impulsively.
He had already sensed that an extremely powerful will had descended within the shadow humanoid before him.
This will strength, as he had previously speculated, was indeed of a Divine being.
Moreover, a Great Divine being... No, an immensely powerful Evil God!
While Lis could certainly interrupt the Divine being’s descent now, there was no doubt the mages within would die as a result.
Additionally, due to the shadow power’s disregard for Magic Power properties, the Magic Barriers of Jonas City and the Floating City would remain ineffective.
The dispersed power might even utterly destroy Jonas City.
This was absolutely intolerable for both the Pan-Continent Mage Association and Lis.
Lis made secret preparations while calmly watching the descent of the Evil God before him.
A moment later, the shadow humanoid slowly lifted its head, staring at Lis.
Then, as if shaking its head slightly, it sighed and said:
"I really didn’t expect, Lis, you have already come so far."
"You are nearly at the doorstep of Ascension, aren’t you?"
"It’s truly astonishing, have I acted too late?"
"It’s always the same."
Lis gazed intently at the shadow before him, then said:
"This isn’t the first time you’ve done something like this, Shirek!"
