I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means
Chapter 1958 - 1051: The Disappearance of Yor (Part 2)
Chapter 1958: Chapter 1051: The Disappearance of Yor (Part 2)
After some time, Cole rubbed his eyes, set the last document on his right side, and slumped onto the desk.
A moment later, Cole lifted his head to look at Nelson and asked:
"By the way, why hasn’t Yor come yet?"
Yor was also a member of their three-person team. After joining the [Source of All Magic], she quickly joined Cole and Nelson’s team.
The three were originally classmates from the same Magic School, familiar with each other.
Nelson could tell that Yor seemed to have a bit of a thing for Cole, though neither of them had made it clear.
Or rather, before it could develop to that stage, the Abyss Blood Battle began.
The three of them were so busy they barely had any energy to consider such matters.
Yor, like Nelson, also assisted Cole with various tasks, though it was her turn to take a break yesterday.
Yor had said she’d bring lunch today, but it was already afternoon, and there was no sign of her.
"Could she have overslept?"
Nelson, looking at the documents in front of him, contemplated and said.
This was also quite normal; they had previously experienced such exhaustion that they slept for an entire day.
However, Yor had always been punctual, and such a situation had never occurred before.
"I’ll ask."
Cole, feeling the emptiness in his stomach, perked up and sat upright.
He took a blue circular gemstone from his storage ring and infused it with Magic Power.
This was a Communication Tool specifically created by the [Source of All Magic] for members of the school to communicate with each other.
Unlike those precious communication tools, this one was low-cost and more convenient to use.
However, because it was connected to the school’s Magic Tower, it wouldn’t function outside of Jonas City.
After fiddling with it for a while, Cole realized Yor had not responded.
"That’s odd; I remember Yor’s alert sound is quite loud. She shouldn’t miss it."
Cole was puzzled. Could it be the communication tool was broken?
"Why don’t you check her current location?"
Nelson said without lifting his head.
"...Alright."
Cole thought for a moment and nodded.
As Lis’s disciple, Cole had quite a high level of authority in the [Source of All Magic].
Using the communication tool connected to the school’s Mage Tower, Cole could use the school’s Magic Intelligence to locate the opposing communication crystal.
"Let me see..."
Using the subsystem of the Magic Intelligent Life Black Cat, Cole checked the location of association members on the Magic Screen in front of him.
"Why is it missing?"
After a moment, Cole exclaimed with a changed expression.
"What happened?"
Beside him, Nelson heard something was wrong in Cole’s voice and looked up in concern.
"I can’t find Yor’s location."
"How is that possible?"
Nelson frowned, feeling something was off.
"Yor didn’t say she was leaving Jonas City, and even if there was something urgent, she should have at least informed us."
"But what could happen in Jonas City?"
Cole shook his head slightly and sat upright.
"I can’t let this go."
After pondering for a moment, Cole said decisively.
He felt something wasn’t right.
With that, he contacted Black Cat directly.
"Lord Black Cat."
A moment later, Black Cat’s small figure appeared on the table in front of Cole, stretching and yawning:
"What is it now that you need to call me?"
"Just to state upfront, don’t think about making me do work for you. I’ve already been a great help, and those affairs are not something the association allows us to handle directly."
"Besides, Lis wants to give you all some training."
"It’s not about that."
Cole gave a slight, wry smile, shook his head, and simply said:
"I can’t contact Yor. I’d like to ask you to display her path from yesterday until now."
Each communication tool issued by the [Source of All Magic] was recorded by the school’s Magic Intelligence.
Although Cole could check real-time locations, he couldn’t access previous records of other people.
After all, it might involve many people’s privacy, which Cole didn’t have permission for.
Thus, Cole could only rely on Black Cat to check the relevant records.
"That little girl’s trajectory record?"
Black Cat swished its tail, looked at Cole, and then said:
"I can do it, but why do you want to see this?"
"I don’t know what you’re trying to do, but if you’re chasing after her, this method isn’t really appropriate, you know?"
"I’m concerned about whether or not Yor ran into any issues since this has never happened before."
Cole shook his head and said.
"Alright, alright, being Lis’s disciple makes you like my little brother."
Black Cat’s eyes flashed with a glint.
Soon, an illusory map of Jonas City appeared before them, densely filled with various structures of the city.
Black Cat swished its tail, and a light point appeared on the illusory map corresponding to the [Source of All Magic] Mage Tower.
Cole realized this must be Yor’s path from yesterday.
As time progressed beside them, Cole saw Yor’s light point staying a while in the Mage Tower before leaving and heading in the direction of Jonas City.
Cole noticed that Yor didn’t head elsewhere but seemed to be heading directly toward her home.
Watching Yor’s light point, Cole focused his attention.
Soon, Yor’s light point was nearing her home.
At that moment, Cole noticed Yor’s light point halt slightly, as if it suddenly stopped.
Cole watched as Yor’s light point suddenly veered off and rushed quickly into a nearby alley.
Hmm?
Cole immediately heightened his alertness, realizing Yor encountered something unusual.
This all happened quickly, but from Yor’s light point, it seemed she was not being attacked but rather noticed something and actively changed direction to go there.
Yor dashed and wove through the alley, her speed appearing enhanced as if under an Acceleration Spell.
At that moment, Cole noticed Yor’s light point tremble momentarily before disappearing entirely.
"I’ve checked; after that, Yor’s location vanished and hasn’t reappeared."
Black Cat’s tail swished as it spoke.
However, by now, Black Cat had also lost its playful demeanor and became serious.
Black Cat knew something was wrong with Yor in such an event.
If it were an attack or ambush, Yor’s location shouldn’t have disappeared like that.
The situation seemed as if during her advance, Yor was suddenly devoured by fractured space.
Cole and Nelson quickly thought of this possibility.
"I’ve checked; during that time, there were no spatial fluctuations in the corresponding area of Jonas City."
Black Cat stated directly.
Both [Source of All Magic] and the Pan-Continent Mage Association constantly monitored the events in Jonas City, including all forms of energy fluctuations.
Given the current period of the Abyss Blood Battle, even though Jonas City hadn’t directly been attacked by Abyss Demons, precaution was necessary.
Black Cat had checked all relevant information, yet hadn’t detected any peculiar occurrences.
"I’m going to have a look over there."
Cole said through gritted teeth.
With such an event, it was certain that Yor had indeed encountered something unusual.
In such a peculiar situation, Yor was likely in danger.
Cole couldn’t sit still.
"I’m going with you."
Nelson stated directly:
"Lord Black Cat, I’d like you to check if there are any additional clues."
"No problem."
Black Cat’s figure vanished instantly. This occurrence, without alerting the guards or triggering various Magic Barriers in Jonas City, was a serious matter.
Cole and Nelson didn’t hesitate and immediately headed toward the direction where Yor had disappeared.
