I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate
Chapter 682 377: A Butcher's Knife's First Trial
As a result, the return trip took much longer, which gave Su Ze the perfect opportunity to absorb the upgrade materials he had purchased.
As he absorbed the materials, several of his skills were upgraded in turn.
Ant Power, Rhino Charge, and Weak Point Attack all upgraded to seventh-tier divine skills!
At this point, aside from Thunder God Body—which had been downgraded to the fifth tier after being split—he had no other skills below the seventh tier.
Su Ze's power rose to another level, making him even stronger than before.
Moreover, he now possessed three eighth-tier Divine Artifacts: the Shadowless Needle, the Bone Shield, and the Purple Flame Torch. These were his trump cards for fighting opponents above his level.
If he were to face the Moon God of the Weak Race again, he would absolutely have an easier victory than last time.
'Now, I just need to merge the Thunder God Body skill and pillage an eighth-tier skill, and I'll be able to undergo my eighth evolution...'
Once Su Ze became a Moon God, he couldn't say for sure that he could immediately challenge a Sun God, but he was confident he could defeat the vast majority of his peers.
By then, if Zexing had a few more Star Gods, with a Moon God leading multiple Star Gods, his Starry Sky Justice Team would begin to take shape.
Su Ze checked their current coordinates and ordered, "Adjust our course twenty degrees to the right!"
They could have headed straight back to Zexing, so Su Ze's command was clearly a detour. Lin Hua was confused but complied nonetheless.
Su Ze stared intently ahead. If he remembered correctly, a group of Star Pirates had been watching them from that direction on their way here.
Back then, Su Ze had scanned them with the Magic Cube's detection system. The Star Pirates were of average strength—the perfect kind of opponents to test his abilities on.
Just then, the Nebula's detection system sent out a warning: a cluster of lifeforms had been detected up ahead.
The Nebula's detection capabilities were clearly inferior to the Magic Cube's; it only picked up a few Star Gods. Su Ze, however, remembered that this group included a Moon God.
Lin Hua and the others were startled and turned to look at Su Ze.
Su Ze was the one who had deliberately steered them in this direction, which meant he had probably anticipated this encounter.
Su Ze said in a low voice, "Prepare for battle!"
"Yes!"
The three of them—Lin Hua included—instantly got ready. They used a Disguise Divine Artifact to alter their appearances and each drew a seventh-tier hidden weapon.
Su Ze also took out the Land Lock, a seventh-tier Divine Artifact, and tossed it to Lin Hua. With his increased power, the Divine Artifact was no longer very useful to him.
The ship continued its normal flight, then suddenly seemed to hit something and was forced to a stop.
A group of six people suddenly appeared in the Nebula's path.
One Moon God and five Star Gods.
Su Ze started to laugh. It was the Bag Race again!
'Sure enough, they've really monopolized the Star Pirate trade.'
So far, Su Ze had yet to encounter any Star Pirates that weren't from the Bag Race.
"We're just after your loot, not your lives! Hand over all your valuables, and we'll let you go!"
The lead Moon God shouted from outside.
This was just a tactic to test the waters. If Su Ze's group meekly complied and handed over their valuables, it would show they had no backbone. It would mean there were no powerful fighters on board, and the pirates could attack the ship without a second thought.
But if Su Ze's group acted tough and refused to cooperate, the pirates would have to consider whether they'd run into a tough nut to crack.
If they really had provoked someone they couldn't afford to offend, they'd either have to buy their way out of trouble and apologize, or just flee.
However, they only dared to stop and rob the ship because they saw it was only traveling at the speed of a Star God-level Spaceship. People in such vessels were rarely major figures. At best, there might be one or two Star Gods on board, and their strength wouldn't be much greater than the pirates'.
As long as the power gap wasn't too large, they could either press the attack or retreat, ensuring their lives weren't at risk.
"Don't attack! We'll cooperate! Take whatever you want!" Su Ze's "terrified" voice called out from inside the ship.
A smug smile spread across the face of the lead Bag Race Moon God. He knew this was in the bag. He'd probably even be able to take their entire ship.
"Everyone on board, bring your valuables and get out here!" he commanded in a loud voice.
As soon as he finished speaking, he saw the ship's hatch slide open.
However, he waited for a moment, but not a single person emerged.
He instantly grew impatient. "What's the hold-up? You think I can't get to you just because you're hiding in there? Cooperate, and don't force our hand!"
Still, no one came out. The ship remained deathly silent; no one responded to his command.
The Bag Race Moon God frowned. He took a few steps forward, then suddenly sensed something. His expression changed, and he shouted a warning, "Watch out—"
But before he could finish, he let out a sudden scream.
Behind him, three of his subordinates suddenly spurted blood, struck in their vitals by a surprise attack of sleeve arrows, darts, and throwing knives.
"Hidden weapons!"
"They tricked us!"
"Quick, fall back!"
The two uninjured pirates started dragging their wounded comrades back, but just then, dozens of fine needles silently pierced their bodies.
The two let out a cry, but the sound died in their throats as their souls were instantly annihilated.
Su Ze hadn't used all his Shadowless Needles on the Bag Race Moon God. He knew that even all 299 of them together couldn't kill a Moon God-level expert in one hit.
But a few dozen Shadowless Needles were more than enough to instantly annihilate an ordinary Star God.
"Charge!"
"Go!"
Su Ze led the charge out of the ship, with Lin Hua, Old Waller, and Tano close behind. The four of them lunged toward the four remaining Bag Race Star Pirates.
Su Ze naturally went for the Bag Race Moon God to fight one-on-one, while Lin Hua and the other two pounced on the three Bag Race Star Gods like hungry wolves, their faces even holding traces of excited smiles.
The three Bag Race Star Gods were terrified. 'How are these guys more vicious and bloodthirsty than us? They're the real pirates!'
Little did they know that Lin Hua and the others had been cooped up on Zexing for hundreds of years. Now that they finally had opponents they could really fight, how could they not be excited?
Only the Bag Race Moon God breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that his opponent was merely a Star God.
"A mere Star God who relies on Divine Artifacts for sneak attacks. Do you really think you can defy a Moon God?"
He had barely finished speaking when his expression changed drastically. He saw Su Ze take out a torch crowned with a purple flame.
Su Ze blew a single breath, and the Bag Race Moon God was instantly engulfed by the purple flames...
...
In less than two minutes, the battle was over.
The entire crew of six Star Pirates had been eliminated.
Su Ze and his team swept up the spoils of war like a whirlwind, even finding the Star Pirates' hidden spaceship.
Although it was only a Star God-level Spaceship, acquiring a ship in just a few minutes was a massive haul.
"That's it?"
Lin Hua and the others were still buzzing with the excitement of killing members of another race for the first time and collecting the loot.
This first test run as Starry Night Constables had already given the three of them a taste of the good life.
"Star Lord, we think there's real potential in this line of work!" the three said in unison, looking at Su Ze.
