I Am Not A Goblin Slayer
Chapter 997 - 481: Priceless Echoes of Yesterday
Gauss couldn’t help but marvel, "It can hold so much! What an incredible item. An absolutely fantastic treasure."
He could use it to store his daily supplies, equipment, and other materials. Since its interior contained independent spatial bubbles, no matter how much he put inside, the items would never interfere with one another.
"However, a word of caution, sir. It cannot preserve the Life Force of living creatures," Michelle explained. "The moment they are placed inside, their lives will be suspended by Stasis Magic. All vital signs will cease, and they will die in a short amount of time. Furthermore, if a target contains too much energy, it might even damage the Magic Item itself."
"I understand. After exchanging for this top-tier stasis bracelet, will I have enough left over for other items? How much more can I get?" Gauss asked, though it was merely a polite formality. He knew that since Michelle had offered this option, his funds were definitely sufficient for more than just this one piece.
"Of course, my esteemed sir.
"This bracelet will cost approximately forty-nine percent of your male Green Dragon’s value."
Hearing that figure, Gauss realized a single bracelet was equivalent to half a dragon. He was slightly taken aback, but considering its massive storage capacity and powerful functions, the price made perfect sense.
From any perspective, this top-tier stasis bracelet was an invaluable treasure. Think of it this way: even though it was merely an auxiliary Magic Item, one could employ the most foolish method imaginable—filling it with a million tons of water and releasing it over a town—to instantly create a terrifying natural disaster. If used to transport logistics, it could hold an entire army’s supplies—rations, drinking water, tents, armor, weapons, and fodder for mounts—equipping tens of thousands of soldiers for a war lasting several years.
"It might be a bit expensive, but I swear on the ethics of my Profession that the valuation is entirely accurate," Michelle assured him, perhaps catching the fleeting look of surprise on Gauss’s face. "The entirety of this transaction will be recorded in writing. If you have any doubts later, you can always request a review from the Guild."
"Understood. Thank you for the explanation, Mr. Michelle. I naturally trust in the fairness of both you and the Guild," Gauss said with a smile.
"Of course. Aside from this top-tier stasis bracelet, the ’Echo of Yesterday’, there is also an advanced-tier alternative. It would only cost about fifteen percent of the male Green Dragon’s value, but its spatial dimensions are merely a thirty-meter cube, and its preservation duration is locked at a maximum of five years. I assumed this would not quite meet your needs."
A thirty-meter cube compared to a hundred-meter cube. Fifteen percent compared to forty-nine percent.
Gauss instantly made his judgment. In terms of cost-effectiveness, the Echo of Yesterday absolutely crushed the advanced version. Setting aside the preservation duration, the top-tier version offered thirty-seven times the storage capacity, yet it was only a little over three times the price.
"I’ll take the Echo of Yesterday," Gauss finalized.
What he didn’t know was that the Echo of Yesterday’s appearance in the catalog was the result of a massive price slash. In fact, the Guild’s upper management had intentionally priced this invaluable Magic Item as a half-sale, half-giveaway just for him. They were deliberately "tricking" a layman who hadn’t researched the market—otherwise, his male Green Dragon wouldn’t have been nearly enough to cover the cost.
Naturally, this extreme discount only applied to this unique spatial item. The prices of the other goods had only been slightly adjusted to sit just below market value.
"Aside from spatial items, I imagine that as a powerful Caster, you will likely want to exchange for Spells as well."
Like a seasoned salesman, Michelle flipped to another section of the catalog. It listed an extensive directory of Spells. Some were ones Gauss had never even heard of. They ranged from the 0th Ring to the 6th Ring.
Gauss’s expression shifted slightly. Michelle’s sales pitch had hit the nail on the head. As someone who was steadily building his own mental Magic library, he was incredibly passionate about collecting a wide variety of Magic. Furthermore, he had yet to master a single 6th Ring Spell.
Although 6th Ring Magic typically required a Caster to be level 11 or higher to learn, with the 21 points in his Intelligence Attribute, he was confident that mastering it wouldn’t be too difficult. Given his Magic Talent and his numerous Racial Talents, once he became proficient with 6th Ring Magic, it would undoubtedly erupt with a level of power and effectiveness far surpassing anyone else’s Casting.
His gaze lingered on the list of 6th Ring Spells, his eyes gradually burning with fiery anticipation.
