I Am Not A Goblin Slayer
Chapter 994 - 480: Reversed Public Opinion
Hearing this, the other three instantly fell silent.
The biggest variable right now was the disappearance of His Majesty the Green Dragon.
Before His Majesty vanished, they had all clearly heard that furious roar, which mentioned the name Dilla. Although they didn’t know exactly who this name belonged to, anyone whose name was spat from His Majesty’s mouth had to be an entity of the same tier, if not stronger. Furthermore, even though the scene of that Demon’s descent only lasted for a fleeting moment, many monsters had clearly seen its terrifying silhouette.
This proved that His Majesty had definitely encountered an extremely difficult opponent, which explained his delayed return.
"We can no longer afford to hesitate. The humans are gradually gathering more forces. Let those guys from the Dragon Worship Sect make their move."
"I agree."
"Agreed."
Ultimately, the four monster generals reached a consensus. At the very least, there wasn’t much pressure in making this decision. The Dragon Worship Sect was merely a group of self-attached vassals anyway; having them stir up trouble in the human heartland couldn’t be more fitting.
Over at the military camp, through Monroe’s introduction, Gauss was meeting with a senior actuary from the Adventurer’s Guild.
The actuary wore an impeccable suit. The size of his cuffs and the length of his clothes were tailored to absolute perfection—even a fraction shorter would be too short, and a fraction longer would be too long. The man didn’t look old, his skin still taut, but the silver-gray strands at his temples hinted that he wasn’t quite as young as he appeared.
"Mr. Gauss, hello. I am Michelle, an actuary with the Guild."
"Hello, Mr. Michelle."
Upon seeing Gauss, the visitor proactively took off his gloves and reached out to shake Gauss’s hand, releasing it after about two seconds. Michelle then took out a catalog and a notebook from his leather briefcase and placed them on the table.
Gauss glanced inside the open briefcase, noting the numerous tools resting within.
Guild Master Matthias Monroe, after briefly introducing their identities and backgrounds, voluntarily excused himself to give the two men some privacy. The transaction amount was far too large. Even as the Adventurer’s Guild Master of a city, he needed to avoid any suspicion of impropriety.
"Well then, Mr. Gauss, let us begin.
"Are the four true dragons you killed inside this Storage Bracelet?"
He looked at the standard-issue Guild bracelet on Gauss’s wrist, a gleam flashing in his eyes. It was a habit of his Profession as a senior actuary; whenever he encountered high-tier collectibles, he couldn’t help but get excited. Not to mention, these were the bodies of true dragons. Every single one possessed astronomical value.
The last time he had laid eyes on a true Dragon Corpse dated back twenty years. At that time, he had appraised the body of a Red Dragon hatchling in another province. Other than that, he had no similar special work experience. Strictly speaking, that incident twenty years ago was merely a stroke of luck, as he had happened to be operating near the site of the event.
But now, he had heard that this bracelet contained multiple true Dragon Corpses, all of which were older than the one he had first appraised.
"Yes.
"Do I need to take them out?"
Gauss turned his head to look around, signaling with his eyes that the room didn’t seem spacious enough.
"No, no, no, simply placing the bracelet on the table will suffice."
As he spoke, Michelle picked up an ordinary-looking magnifying glass from his briefcase. Under Gauss’s curious gaze, he held the magnifying glass up and leaned close to the Storage Bracelet on the table. Catching the reflection on the surface of Michelle’s eyes, Gauss could vaguely make out the image Michelle was currently viewing.
Gauss wondered if this seemingly ordinary magnifying glass could actually see through space to reveal the collection stored inside the bracelet. This discovery caught Gauss somewhat by surprise, and he couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
He had previously always believed that spatial items possessed extremely high security. Because they required binding with Magic Power, it was supposed to be impossible for an outsider to know what was stored inside before the connection between the Magic Power and the item was completely obliterated.
But now, an unremarkable tool was doing exactly that.
Sure enough, the Adventurer’s Guild possessed far too many truly exceptional items. He even felt that the true strength of a behemoth like the Adventurer’s Guild might be greater than that of the kingdoms and Empires.
"Incredible. Absolutely beautiful!
"A full four true dragons!"
Abandoning his former elegance, Michelle swallowed hard and repeatedly, his eyes turning glazed and infatuated.
