Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Using Game Knowledge

Two pairs of eyes turned to Victor. One shocked, and the other puzzled.

Victor looked away shyly.

Why are they staring at me like that. Is it so abnormal that I know something they don’t?

"This weakness you found, Milkshake22, will it bring down the beast?" Kiki asked.

Cough... Victor began, "yes it will. But..." he paused.

Popo raised a brow. "It will cost more lives."

Victor nodded.

Popo’s shoulders dropped, tightening his fists. He really did not want to see any more of his people die.

Kiki could tell what he was thinking, but she could not be bothered. If they did not defeat the Basalt Dragonic Lizard, everyone would still die.

Of course, to her, trusting Victor was the more alarming matter.

"Let’s hear it."

Victor nodded. "Firstly, like all creatures, the Basalt Dragonic Lizard has patterns. We are going to take advantage of that. First is the tail, next the claws on the forelimbs, and then the mouth.

Even if the order is scrambled as a result of the Babarians’ attacks, it’s mostly the same."

Kiki frowned. Why had she not thought about that till now. She prided herself in understanding battles, but this. It was different.

Maybe it was because she merely saw the Basalt Dragonic Lizard as a brainless beast.

"But that’s just it’s attack pattern. What does that have to do with its weakness, and sacrificing our people?" Popo stepped forward.

Victor knew Popo’s temperament very well. A protective leader. If he could avoid the bloodshed to achieve what was needed, he would.

However, this was the only way Victor knew how to play the game.

For what he was going to do next, he needed bait. And in all honesty, Victor could careless. After all, was this not just a game?

"I’ll need the distraction, and then a strike strong enough to remove its bar-like teeth.

Also, two axes to pull its aggro would do."

"To pull its what?" Kiki asked.

"Forget about it. Just do what I said, and it’s true weak point will show itself."

Kiki and Popo stared at each other, and then back at Victor.

"Milkshake22, are you sure about this?" Popo asked worriedly.

Damn, I really shouldn’t have used such a user name.

Cough...

"Yes I am."

Popo and Kiki looked at one another again. Doubt was evident in their eyes.

If this suggestion had come at the beginning of the battle, they would have thrown it aside.

But not right now.

Right now, too much had been lost, and nothing gained.

Kiki’s determined eyes made their decision. Popo could not rebel.

He raised a fist at the fighters, "Change formation." The pain of what to come evident in his voice.

"Roko! You and your team are on the tail. Vasgan, the forelimbs. The rest of you, with me. Let’s remove its teeth." He roared and the babarians roared back in response.

"And somebody find my brother some weapons."

"Huhhh? What are they planning to do now?" Boramo asked, leaning slightly from his seat.

"Whatever it is, it won’t work. There is no way to bring down the Basalt Dragonic Lizard from the outside. None of them have levels high enough to one-shot it to death." The Shaman explained.

"That’s why I suggested it for the qualification challenge. After all, its a Territory Boss."

Boramo nodded. This Shaman was quite wise. It was a good thing he took him in as his adviser.

Getting rid of the opposition to his rule was very important. But not as important as how he did it. Else, the tribes would rebel.

While strength was a requirement to rule the babarians, culture and tradition passed down from the ancestors must be respected.

Since he had been comforted, he decided to lay back and observe. Besides, if things did not go according to plan, he still had that other method.

Boramo gave a side smirk that revealed his razor sharp teeth. He stroked the skull around his neck affectionately. "Let’s see what your seeds can do, Zaza."

With Popo’s lead, the Babarians had acted.

Roko’s team began at the tail just as ordered.

Of course, every third strike on the vulnerable part of its skin made it heal.

But simply attacking its body was not Victor’s goal. It was to force the beast into its usual habit.

Once the familiar pattern was set, the assurance it would act accordingly increased.

And that assurance was the goal. After all, he only had one shot at this.

Roko’s team assaulted the beast, and then Vasgan took over, attacking the digits.

Everytime the beast attacked in response, Babarians would either die or get injured.

Still, they did not let go.

For Victor, it was a really impressive sight to behold.

Babarians did not believe that death should be feared. In fact, it was honored—this was on the condition that death happened during a battle, either on the bed or in the battlefield.

Popo and Kiki led the attack for the beast’s face.

Victor calculated.

The first time, the pattern was not clear as the Babarians were not in sync attacking.

Then the second time.

By the third, even those that knew they were going to die still followed through.

Tail attack.

Forelimb attack.

Mouth attack.

With less than twenty Babarians left in the fight, the pattern had been set.

Popo nodded at Kiki and she nodded back. She retrieved her broad sword. This time around she did not attack its eyes. Instead, she flipped over its nose, and as she descended, her broad sword cut in a violent arc.

*Wild Slash*

Her blade moved twice. One for the upper teeth, and the second for the lower.

The Basalt Dragonic Lizard

SHRIEKED in pain.

Blood splashed in the air.

At the same time, Victor—waiting on the ground, threw one of the axes at the beast, drawing its aggro to him.

Just as he did it, he knew he was done for. All three of the beast’s eyes landed on him.

Oh fuck it actually worked. OH FUCK IT WORKED!? His eyes widened at the realization.

But it was too late. The beast had attacked with its tail before, its forelimbs. Even though it was bleeding from its mouth, its pattern had been set. It still attacked with it.

"Oh mummy!" Victor whispered as he watched the beast open its mouth to engulf him whole.
