Chapter 1144 - 76: Dividing the Nether River
Chapter 1144: Chapter 76: Dividing the Nether River
I have lost.
The Dead King ClawnVow stood pale-faced atop the high walls of the City of the Dead, his dark eyes filled with unwillingness.
Across the Nether River from the City of the Dead, the vast demonic army stretched forth, numbering perhaps in the millions. Such a massive army could only be defeated if he descended or acted personally, at least the Prayer of the City of the Dead was nearly overwhelmed.
Only by divine intervention can such a massive battle be altered.
Deep within ClawnVow’s gaze was the yearning to act, but recalling the teachings of the Ancient Death God Ye Ge, he forcibly suppressed it, aware that at the very least, these demonic forces were not capable of conquering the City of the Dead.
"Should I intervene?" ClawnVow hesitated.
From the high walls of the City of the Dead looking westward, there were endless demon camps stretching to the horizon. In every battle, demons were the absolute main force; even during times of peace, in Abyssal Blood Wars, the elite Devil Legion would slaughter over a million demons each year.
This time, the assembled demon army numbers over five hundred thousand; even with significant casualties, they still have a scale of over three hundred thousand.
On the eastern side of the City of the Dead are the Nether River Soul Stealers from Baator Hell. The cunning devils ultimately opposed him; though not the main force of the attack, they did not engage the demon forces, instead undermining by seizing souls, their profits overflowing.
The south and north sides of the City of the Dead are besieged by demonic armies from various lower planes, far surpassing the scale of the Eighteen Lords against Dong Zhuo. The southern army mainly hails from several layers surrounding Fiery Hell, while the northern army centers around Desolate Wilderness and Asura Field, with many undead kings from the Spirit Realm and Shadow Plane.
Leading this attack on the Netherworld is the newly ascendant Demon Lord Napoleon Bonaparte, whose achievements are quite brilliant; leveraging absolute force to crush, utilizing his tactical prowess, he has repeatedly defeated the City of the Dead’s Otherworld Divine Envoy legions.
At this moment, the demonic Napoleon also gazes toward the distant City of the Dead.
This war is exhilarating.
In the past, he has always won with fewer forces, but this time he faced the enemy with over tenfold strength. Even with poor discipline among the demon army, the sheer numerical advantage, coupled with evil allies akin to the Eighteen Lords, showcased his commanding genius.
"My lord."
"Orders from the Silver Palace." An Enchanting Mage’s figure emerged.
Napoleon glanced at her, calmly saying, "Speak."
The enchanting demon hesitated for a moment before conveying the orders from the Lord of the Silver Palace: "If the Ancient Death God Ye Ge appears, retreat immediately."
"If Death God ClawnVow intervenes, you also lead an elite force off the battlefield promptly."
"If the devils withdraw, we retreat at once."
"Our objectives have been achieved."
Are we retreating now?
In the presence of divine spirits, even an army in the millions is of no consequence?
Napoleon Bonaparte remained silent, only nodding after a long pause, "I understand."
On the other side of the Nether River.
The Evil Demon Lord Eygor also stared at the distant City of the Dead, the results of this battle being extremely remarkable. More importantly, the demon army opened the field, inciting restlessness among the evil demon lords of the lower planes. Not only was the anticipated support greater than before, but even undead kings joined their ranks.
But this is as far as it will go.
Eygor knew his mission from the start and had even prepared for a retreat.
"If Ye Ge appears, I’ll kneel immediately!"
All evil commanders shared a consensus; if the Ancient Death God Ye Ge appears, they would not only retreat but surrender, willing to kneel if Ye Ge would take over the position of the death god, serving the ancient deity.
But will Ye Ge be willing?
Ye Ge is unwilling.
Behind the devil’s ranks, a shadowy figure also gazes at the distant City of the Dead. He, with eerie blood eyes, looks at ClawnVow’s incarnation, a hint of anticipation in his gaze, eager for Death God ClawnVow to take action once more.
The last time was sudden; no one expected ClawnVow to expose his weakness so easily.
This time, should he expose himself again, the implications would be entirely different.
"Ye Ge."
"It seems your chosen successor is lacking." The Lord of Hell Asmodeus had a look of amusement.
The situation had deteriorated.
If Ye Ge does not emerge to clean up this mess, the entire lower plane’s landscape will change.
City of the Dead, Crystal Tower.
The Ancient Death God Ye Ge also gazes at ClawnVow below, refraining from appearing despite knowing he could resolve the issue should he appear, but he was long weary of the duties of a death god.
Ultimately, ClawnVow restrained himself.
Ye Ge watched as ClawnVow orders defenses for the City of the Dead, finally showing a gratified smile.
Merely temporary gains and losses.
No one can overrun the City of the Dead; at least while he exists, no divine entity in the lower planes would dare challenge the boundaries of the death Pantheon.
The Lord of Hell Asmodeus dares not, nor would any other evil lords.
ClawnVow finally learned to let go of superficial pride; as a newly made death god, his priority is to enhance his abilities, not recklessly reveal weaknesses.
