Chapter 1135: Chapter 814: Alchemy_3

"However, after class, I can apply to the professor to take you into the classroom. You’re Headmaster Maxime’s guests, so there should be no problem."

"It’s okay to look from outside as well."

Kael looked up.

He swore he had never seen such a large classroom, occupying almost a third of the floor.

Through the windows on both sides, he could clearly see what was happening inside.

The classroom was filled with white smoke everywhere. Kael took two steps forward and could faintly see it was coming out of a huge brass furnace in the middle of the classroom.

Every time a student put something into the furnace, smoke would emerge from the gaps around it, mostly white, with faint traces of gray.

Yet, whenever this happened, the person who looked like a professor would loudly scold the student who put in the item.

"Kael, look here."

At this moment, Conna suddenly tugged Kael’s arm and pointed to three lines of striking text on the classroom door,

"What does it mean? It doesn’t look like French."

"Oh, this is..." Gabrielle was about to explain when Kael said:

"Upon entering this gate, one must remember: Curb your inner greed, follow the law of equivalent exchange, do not overstep the domain of God, and human transmutation is forbidden."

"These are the basic principles of Alchemy, which every beginner must know."

"You can understand it?" Gabrielle stared at Kael with big eyes, looking at him as if he were a strange creature.

"I don’t know what Fleur told you," Kael rubbed his forehead, "but this isn’t French, so of course I understand it."

"Then what is it?" Conna asked in confusion: "Runes? It looks a bit like it, but seems quite different."

"It’s the oldest, untranslated Runic language," Kael explained. "It’s a phrase from the ’Jade Record’, transcribed exactly as is, very professional."

"Where did this Brit come from, spouting nonsense at Beauxbatons, saying it like he’s read the ’Jade Record’."

A taunting voice came from behind, "And whether our Alchemy class is professional, does it need a Brit like you to judge?"

Kael instinctively turned around and saw a few young boys had appeared behind them.

The one who spoke seemed to be the leader, and seeing Kael turn, he immediately tilted his head back, looking at him with displeasure.

However, Kael also noticed his gaze would frequently flick towards Gabrielle’s direction.

"Jafar, what are you talking about? They are Headmaster Maxime’s esteemed guests." Gabrielle said angrily.

But this only seemed to excite the boy even more.

"Esteemed guests, just a couple of Brits?" The boy said disdainfully, "Judging by their appearance, they must have graduated recently, probably fleeing here to escape that Dark Wizard or something, I’ve seen plenty like them."

They were speaking French, which Kael didn’t understand.

"This scenario is way too cliché, yet it seems inescapable," he muttered softly.

He could pretty much guess this person must be Gabrielle’s suitor, coming over to make his presence known.

With the rival’s face so close, should he strike? For instance, go to the classroom together and showcase his excellent Alchemy skills, stunning everyone present.

Kael rubbed his chin, hesitating a bit.

Although this wasn’t his turf, the scene was too classic; if he didn’t act, he felt like he would miss out on something.

But just as he hesitated, the class bell rang.

"Jafar, go back and copy the ’Basic Alchemy Record’ thirty times, otherwise don’t come to my class anymore."

Accompanied by a gentle voice, the previously defiant boy suddenly wilted and ran off without even arguing.

A middle-aged man walked out of the classroom.

"Professor Viktor," Gabrielle called sweetly.

"Hmm." The middle-aged man nodded at her, "Is your assignment completed?"

"Can I hand it in tomorrow?" Gabrielle said with a bitter face, "You saw, I didn’t have time this afternoon, Headmaster Maxime gave me a task."

"By tomorrow afternoon at the latest," Viktor said. He then looked at Kael and Conna, "Who are you, and why are you here."

Kael blinked.

He didn’t understand what the professor had said, but guessed that Gabrielle was probably introducing him and then a greeting... well, should be correct.

"Ah, hello to you too, it’s nice to meet you," Kael said in broken French.

The scene suddenly fell silent.

Conna covered her face with her hand, pretending not to see Professor Viktor’s odd expression.
