Chapter 1129: Chapter 812: Reunion After a Long Separation (Part 3)
"I’m curious... how did you manage to find this place with such terrible French?" she looked at Kael, "The French Ministry of Magic is very vigilant about Place de Furstemberg, there are Aurors everywhere, they definitely won’t miss a sudden appearance of a wizard."
"Really?" Kael blinked, "Then I must be very lucky, the place I appeared is three streets away, not too far from here but not very close either."
"How did you get here, you couldn’t have just asked for directions, right?"
"Of course, I did ask for directions." Kael said with a straight face, "I asked a Muggle, he was very enthusiastic, and he could understand everything I said."
"Really?"
Fleur doubted Kael’s story, but since Kael managed to find his way here and no Aurors came knocking, it indicated that he indeed didn’t use magic.
"But... it shouldn’t be, does the Muggle’s language accommodate so much?" Fleur muttered quietly, "No, you must have found a Muggle who speaks English."
Kael chose to ignore her baseless speculation.
"By the way, it’s almost noon, why haven’t you opened the shop yet?" He switched topics, "Are you really selling magic potions?"
"Of course..."
"Of course we are, what else could we be doing." Conna quickly said before Fleur could open her mouth, "I just don’t like opening that early."
"Anyway, this shop isn’t really for making money, so it goes as we please, under normal circumstances, we open at noon."
"Then why is the display window empty?" Kael pointed behind him and asked.
"Of course, everything’s sold out." Conna said, "A few days ago Beauxbatons started the school year, those French students almost bought out all the stock in the shop."
"I didn’t plan on opening today just to refill the stock quickly."
To lend credence to her words, she got up and opened a door inside.
Kael peeked in, and saw stacks of magic potions, packed to the brim, the room was full, leaving only a small space at the doorway for access.
Seeing this, Kael believed Conna’s statement.
After all, so many magic potions can’t be faked, and Conna indeed puts effort into running the shop, this made him feel reassured.
Then they switched to another topic, but the conversation mainly remained between Conna and Kael.
Having not met for so long, they seemed to have endless things to talk about.
"Let me tell you, France is quite interesting, did you see those alchemy shops when you arrived?" At some point, Conna held Kael’s hand.
"I saw them, there were three." Kael nodded.
"It’s not just that." Conna said, "Here, they don’t seem to emphasize magic potions that much, they prefer alchemy instead."
"Can you sell your magic potions then?"
"They are popular because they’re rare." Conna said, "Although alchemy can’t replace the functions of magic potions, even if they don’t stress it, there’s still demand."
"That makes sense."
"How’s England?"
"It’s alright." Kael said, "When Hogwarts had just let out, Death Eaters were quite active, but they haven’t made much move recently. Oh, and Lupin and Nymphadora got married."
"Really? When?"
"Early August."
"What a shame I couldn’t attend."
"It’s okay, it was pretty dangerous that day too, Bellatrix brought Death Eaters to disrupt the wedding."
...
The two continued their chat as if no one else was around, initially, Fleur still listened in, but as time passed, she increasingly felt the atmosphere was off.
It was as though she had become an invisible person.
She, Fleur, a Half-Veela, always the shiniest in the crowd wherever she went, and she never imagined she’d face a day of being ignored.
But today, it happened.
There seemed to be a magic field around those two, automatically blocking everything around them, she attempted several times to join the conversation, but kept being ignored.
"Excuse me, could you show me some respect!" Fleur said loudly, finally getting a response this time.
"What’s up." Kael looked up.
"I wanted to ask, how is Bill these days?"
"You write letters so much that you’d run three owls ragged in a day, do you really need to ask me how he is?" Kael said unhurriedly, "Also, if Bill was in trouble, do you think I’d go so long without mentioning it?"
Fleur took a deep breath, her good manners allowed her to keep smiling, but what she was thinking was unknown to others.
"Carry on... I’ll go for a walk."
Fleur stood up, angrily slammed the door, and left.
She couldn’t stand another minute in that place.
