His Wild Omega

Chapter 35: Are You Comfortable?

Selene slowly walked toward her door.

She touched the handle, but wouldn’t turn it to step out of the room.

It had been four days since the incident. And she had avoided Dante like a plague. The one time she nearly came face to face with him, she had avoided him as if escaping a mortal enemy.

But this caused a problem for her.

Though she was now allowed in the dining hall, she had kept missing her breakfast to completely avoid Dante Baris. Even dinner was a problem because he always came back for dinner.

She only ever manages to eat launch which her personal maid Ellenor carefully makes for her.

Sigh...

Selene sighed.

When did I become this kind of woman?

A wild omega like her avoiding an alpha for reasons like this? Never had she thought she would be subjected to a situation like this even once in her life.

But for how long can I avoid him?

She sighed again.

It was just an accident anyway. As long as I pretend like nothing happened, everything will be.. ahem...normal.

Taking a deep breath, Selene opened the door and stepped out.

She made her way downstairs and came along Ellenor on the way.

"Madam." Ellenor bowed.

Selene smiled at her. "Eh...Dante...is he still around?"

Ellenor blinked, confused by the question. She nodded. "Yes, the alpha is around. Right now, he is in the dining hall with Madam Meris. You should also go for breakfast. Or..."

She stepped closer and whispered, "You should join in. Otherwise, you will keep having only lunch."

There was a little chuckling to her words.

Selene blinked several times, clearing her throat. "Right... You’re right..."

Ellenor stared at her. "What are you waiting for? Also...why do you seem so nervous, madam? Is everything alright?"

"Of course everything is fine. I just have a uh...parched throat." Selena adjusted her shirt. "I’m alright."

She walked off, making her way to the hall.

Selene stepped her way through the opened double door into the dinning.

Almost immediately, four pairs of eyes rose and landed on her. But her gaze only locked on one and they were belonging to—

"Hello, Dante!" She followed up with a high laugh that quickly turned awkward.

Meris and Dante were staring at her as if she had grown two horns.

Dante furrowed his brows. "Hello, Dante...?"

Selene cleared her throat. "Good morning..."

She made her way over to the dinning and settled down at the chair quite far from Dante and Meris.

Meris eyed her.

"Why is she here?" she asked.

Dante glanced at her.

"I thought she wasn’t allowed to dine in the dining?"

"I allowed it," Dante said.

She looked at him. "Why?"

"Meris—"

She interrupted him, "I know she is your wife by a contract, but she is still an outsider, Dante. Dining with us like this...I don’t think it’s right."

"It;s not a matter of what you think is right or not," he responded without looking at her, picking up his utensils to begin eating his food piece by piece. "Outsider, yes, but she is the daughter of a man who is just as powerful as I am. She is the high miss of a full pack on equal power footing as ours."

"—What would it make of me to bring her over here, yet treat her less? Are you listening to yourself?"

He finally looked at Meris and when he did, his eyes carried coldness.

Meris was a bit taken aback.

They had spent the entire night last night. She never left his bed until this morning.

Truth was, she had actually never managed to properly sleep last night. She had been too worried about him finding out her secret, and she found herself unable to sleep. Using those opportunities, she continually released her pheromones throughout the night, trying everything to get him under his control as usual.

But the Dante right now didn’t look as though he she had managed to get him under her grasp.

He looked to be aware of himself, of his thoughts, his words and decisions. Otherwise, he’d never look at her so coldy as he was doing right now.

But then something strange happened.

As if realizing he was being harsh on her, his gaze softened almost immediately, and he nearly seemed to smile a little at her. "I don’t mean to be hard on you," he said.

Meris found herself confused.

It was hard to not conclude that Dante had become somewhat strange since last night as if he had found out something he shouldn’t have found out.

On the other side, Selene who had been quiet all along bounced her eyes between these two.

First she looked at Meris’s expression and then at Dante whose look had gone back to expressionless.

This tension...

Did something happen between the both of them? She wondered.

They seemed tense with each other, but she couldn’t ask.

I’m going to have Ellenor get me some information.

She had wanted to have the girl as her personal maid for this reason. Surviving in this pack also meant having someone you could rely on for information.

"Are you comfortable?"

The sudden question snapped her out of her thoughts. She looked ahead to find that Dante was staring intently at her.

"What?!" she answered bluntly before she could think.

He awkwardly stared at her, blinking his eyes a few times. He wouldn’t speak.

Selene gazed back at him. "I am...comfortable. Why...do you ask?"

Dante cleared his throat.

"Nothing." He shook his head. "I am just...asking."

A little bit of embarrassment crossed Selene’s face and she lowered her gaze to the food she was lazily cutting into.

How could she not know why he was asking?

After what had happened that day, they had not seen each other, at least not properly anyway.

And this was the first time in a while that she was sitting in his midst for so long.

"Um...I’m full. I think I will take my leave. You two...enjoy." She pushed back her chair and stood up.

Selena turned around and began her way towards the door.

Dante stared after her.

Meris parted her lips, about to say something to him, but just then—

Dante shriveled his chair back. He stood up, stepped out from behind the table and started after Selene.

She didn’t notice him until he grasped her arm and pulled her to a stop.

Selene spun around on her feet and came face to face with him, brows lifting in confusion.

She blinked at him.

"What...what are you doing?"
