Chapter 2305: Chapter 1917: Lobster Brother (Part 2)
Lobster Brother snorted, thinking everyone was just sympathizing with his lack of catch.
Ah, you know, among their fishing enthusiast circles, they might be somewhat famous, but once back home, it’s all about lowering their heads and feeling sheepish.
After all, whose husband sneaks out like a thief in the middle of the night, calls in the day, and says, "Keep it down, you’ll scare my fish away."
Going out in the rain or snow, then bringing back a bucket of fish smelling all fishy—
Oh dear, what’s not available at the market nowadays? Who wants to kill fish themselves, gut them, and scale them?
Getting all fishy in the process.
In short, everyone exchanged glances and the word "humble" was written all over their faces.
Until Lun Jing at the front desk called out, "Lobsters are here."
Everyone glanced over—
Whoa, the helpers from the mountain brought down a big basin!
Apparently, there wasn’t any suitable container, so they directly brought down a small clay basin from the mountain.
The clay basin was as big as a washbasin, with a bamboo lid on top, and large portions of set meals stacked on the lid.
After the set meals were distributed, the lid was lifted, and an aroma instantly filled the air.
Everyone who was about to lift their lids to eat: ...
How can one enjoy their humble meal now? They have plain porridge and pickles, while on the other side, there’s bird’s nest and abalone!
And if you take a closer look, the first thing you see is the ruby-red cooked lobsters, emanating a captivating aroma.
Fresh green cilantro, sprinkled with chopped chives and sesame seeds, alongside amber potatoes, green cucumbers, bits of greens, a few baby corns sourced from who knows where, and some aged tofu...
All in all, all the village’s vegetables that could pair with lobsters were tossed in, turning ten lobsters into a big jumble!
Not to mention the flavor, just the effort of selecting freshly picked vegetables from the fields already feels worth more than 50 bucks, making everyone feel it’s value for money.
Then there’s the glimpse of noodles inside...
Lobster Brother picked up his chopsticks to sample some, revealing the slightly yellow homemade noodles, slightly thick and springy.
Even the sensation from the chopsticks felt distinctly different.
Everyone was now entirely reluctant to use their chopsticks, only expressing surprise through their eyebrows and eyes:
"You must admit, the price has its merits over here!"
These days, even in restaurants, you don’t necessarily get homemade noodles.
Previously, everyone went to a major fishing spot, and even the egg in the boxed meal was pre-made—not those cooked ahead and just placed there, but directly bought frozen products!
Honestly, a pre-made fried egg left a bunch of grown men feeling extremely frustrated.
And now, the assertive aroma of lobsters filled the air as everyone sniffed, while also examining the sets that came along—
Compared to pre-made eggs, these are worlds apart. But when faced with lobsters, the gap is still huge!
It’s quite authentic: lotus root soup with pork ribs, scrambled eggs with loofah, minced meat with green beans, and tiger-skin peppers.
Worth it, and the taste is not bad either.
But... the lobster aroma is just too tempting!
Everyone instinctively pushed their lunchboxes towards the center of the table, surrounding the lobster clay basin with several boxed meals.
While Lobster Brother first picked up a cucumber slice and took a crunchy bite, his eyebrows and eyes dancing with delight:
"Really nice! The chef wasn’t lying when he said the ingredients were freshly picked; the taste is definitely different!"
Afterward, he put on gloves, swiftly picking up the lobsters.
The little lobsters were big, but not fully matured, so their shell hardness wasn’t too exaggerated. With expert skill, he opened the shell, twisted and turned to extract the meat, and tossed it into his mouth!
Tender! Bouncy! Sweet!
Combining with the exterior spicy aroma from the seasoning...
No sooner said than done, he dragged the clay basin closer to himself.
The fishermen watched him intently: What does this mean, what does this mean?
Lobster Brother eyed them and warned cautiously:
"Bros, eat your own stuff, don’t eye this. This looks bustling, but in reality, it’s not that cost-effective,"
"Look at these lobsters, combined they’re not worth a handful of meat."
What are you saying!
The guys stared at him: Isn’t it because you couldn’t catch more than ten lobsters yourself?
And thought: We’ve been fishing together for years, treating everyone with four-figure meals and good drinks for big catches is no rarity.
We know each other too well!
If there’s truly nothing worth eating, why pull the basin toward yourself like guarding a treasure?
At the side, Lu Jingye caught the aroma of the lobsters, sniffed, feeling a bit tempted too.
She took the opportunity to tell the guest:
"You’re really lucky, these lobsters are freshly raised this year, and our folks haven’t even had the chance to taste them yet. If you hadn’t caught them today, we wouldn’t have known they grew this big—how is it, tasty?"
The guest had already munched several more bites of side dishes, the potatoes’ soft savor and the cucumbers’ freshness mingling together, and by this point, he only wiped the sweat on his forehead clumsily, and gave Lun Jing a thumbs up:
"Tomorrow, prepare me the same bait, I’ll try to catch some more."
After a pause, he asked, "Don’t you sell these worms in bulk? If you’re short, could we get some ordinary worms from a regular inn?"
He figured, those could probably lure lobsters too.
Now how does one explain this to the family?
Driving all that way, then bringing home just a few lobsters?
Oh dear, suddenly he was troubled again.
Their back-and-forth conversation didn’t hinder his meal at all!
What’s there that everyone can’t understand?
All of us are locals, even if not, sitting together fishing awkwardly today makes us acquainted.
After a brief hesitation, while holding their lunchboxes, everyone stretched their arms, reaching their chopsticks toward his basin!
"Let me try a bite, I’ll return the favor tomorrow."
"Yeah, tomorrow I’m going to your fishing spot, and I’ll try to catch a couple of lobsters too."
Quickly, with deft hands, three to four lobsters from the basin were snatched away.
Still, it wasn’t enough for everyone; they hadn’t even tasted the lobsters yet but went ahead to take some noodles, cucumbers, and sides, leaving the basin only half full.
Lobster Brother watched them for a while, finally reminding: "We agreed, return the favor tomorrow—if no lobsters, then at least a fish."
Saying this, his quick hands were already reaching for a lobster, hastily sending it to his mouth—
If he didn’t hurry, he’d be left with not even a leaf of cilantro in his bowl!
