Hello, Comrade. I'm Here to Marry You!
Chapter 316: She Doesn't Dare to Sleep
Su Zhaozhao was trying to have a serious discussion with Xie Huaizheng about having a baby. It would have been one thing if he’d just disagreed, but right now, his mind was on something else entirely.
‘This man!’
But before Su Zhaozhao could say a word, he had already lifted her nightgown. His kisses began to fall like rain, covering her face, her lips, and her body.
Su Zhaozhao quickly grew dazed under Xie Huaizheng’s kisses.
In the end, she wrapped her arms tightly around Xie Huaizheng. ‘If fate is really determined to tear us apart,’ Su Zhaozhao thought, ‘I want to cherish every day we have now.’
That night, Su Zhaozhao was exceptionally passionate and invested, arousing Xie Huaizheng until his very soul trembled.
Again and again they came together. Finally, Xie Huaizheng held Su Zhaozhao tightly and whispered, “Zhaozhao, you were so passionate tonight.”
Su Zhaozhao hugged him back. “I’m just… a little anxious. I keep worrying that we might be separated.”
Hearing this, Xie Huaizheng frowned in displeasure. “Zhaozhao, don’t think like that. It’s impossible. We won’t be separated in life, only in death. Only death can part us.”
Then, Xie Huaizheng kissed her again.
He didn’t want to hear her say such things. They had only been married for a short time and had just held their wedding ceremony.
Yet here she was, constantly talking about parting ways. It truly made him feel unsettled.
…
Their fooling around lasted until past three in the morning. Su Zhaozhao’s body was exhausted, but she didn’t feel the slightest bit sleepy.
She lay in Xie Huaizheng’s arms. He was tired too, but he could feel that she was still awake. He pulled her closer into his embrace and said, “Zhaozhao, what’s wrong? You must be exhausted. Why aren’t you asleep yet?”
“I don’t want to sleep. You go ahead,” Su Zhaozhao said to him.
The main reason was her fear. ‘What if I fall asleep and transmigrate back again?’ she worried.
That’s what happened last night. She had fallen asleep and then transmigrated back to the real world.
‘What if I transmigrate back and can’t return this time?’
Xie Huaizheng could feel her anxiety. He couldn’t help but ask, “Zhaozhao, what’s going on? Are you feeling unwell? Why won’t you sleep? Didn’t I wear you out enough tonight?”
He could sense how on edge she was, yet she wouldn’t tell him why. Instead, she was saying things like they might be separated one day.
Xie Huaizheng wondered if Su Zhaozhao was trying to mentally prepare him for the fact that she would eventually leave him.
“Anyway, Zhaozhao, no matter what, don’t leave me, okay? If there’s anything I’m not doing well enough, just tell me and I’ll change. But please, don’t leave me.”
The man nuzzled her hair, inhaling the faint scent of jasmine on her skin, before finally closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep.
Listening to his steady breathing, Su Zhaozhao felt incredibly sleepy too. After all their activity tonight, her body was weary. Plus, sleeping next to Xie Huaizheng always brought a sense of security.
A profound sense of safety enveloped her.
Her eyelids felt incredibly heavy.
But she couldn’t stay awake forever. Even though Su Zhaozhao tried her best to fight it, she eventually drifted off to sleep without realizing it.
When Su Zhaozhao woke up, she immediately shot up and scanned her surroundings. She was still in the world of the novel. She let out a small sigh of relief.
Turning her head, she saw Xie Huaizheng staring at her with a confused and surprised expression.
“Zhaozhao, what’s wrong? You shot up the moment you woke up. You’ve never done that before.”
“I… I’m fine…” Su Zhaozhao let out a long breath and then started to laugh.
‘Thank goodness I didn’t transmigrate back,’ she thought. ‘Sigh, jumping between two worlds is so exhausting.’
After getting up, they went downstairs for breakfast. Huang Jiqin pulled Su Zhaozhao aside, wanting to take her out shopping.
Xie Huaizheng wanted to come along, but Huang Jiqin stopped him. “Huai Zheng, you’re stuck to your wife’s side every day. I want to hang out with her too, so don’t you tag along.”
Huang Jiqin then said to Su Zhaozhao, “I also invited Jingshu. Manzhi is back too—she got back yesterday. The four of us can hang out, maybe even play some mahjong.”
Four people was the perfect number for a table.
But upon hearing Huang Jiqin’s words, Xie Huaizheng immediately furrowed his brow. “No. Unless I go, you’re not taking Zhaozhao.”
For some reason, Su Zhaozhao’s words and strange behavior from the previous day had left Xie Huaizheng feeling deeply unsettled.
He was genuinely worried about her leaving his sight.
They were in Beijing for the time being anyway, and he had nothing better to do. It was best to protect Su Zhaozhao and keep her within his line of sight.
Su Zhaozhao didn’t object. She squeezed Xie Huaizheng’s hand. “I’d rather stay with Huai Zheng.”
Seeing how inseparable the young couple was, Huang Jiqin didn’t press the issue.
“Alright, if that’s the case, then Huai Zheng can come with us. Otherwise, it’d be four of us women and you, a lone man…”
“I don’t mind. As long as Zhaozhao is there, I can be pretty thick-skinned,” Xie Huaizheng said with a grin.
He was already thick-skinned enough as it was. And now, he would do anything just to be with Su Zhaozhao.
“Let’s go, let’s go. We’ll go shopping and buy some things. I also want to get another gift for Zhaozhao,” Huang Jiqin said.
“Mom, you don’t have to. You’ve already given me so many things.”
“How is that enough? All those clothes in your room are ones I picked out for you according to my taste. But I see how fashionable young people are these days. You should get some more clothes that you like,” Huang Jiqin urged.
So in the end, she, Su Zhaozhao, and Xie Huaizheng got in the car and went to a nearby mall. They browsed for a bit, buying clothes and some other presents, including gifts for Zhang Jingshu and Jiang Manzhi.
Thinking of Jiang Manzhi, Su Zhaozhao thought for a moment before picking up a bottle of perfume from a nearby counter and paying for it.
“This is a gift I plan to give to Manzhi,” Su Zhaozhao told Xie Huaizheng.
Because of Xie Huaizheng, their relationship had gotten off to a very bad start.
Although things had improved between them later, their relationship wasn’t completely mended.
But Jiang Manzhi was the type of person who knew when to let things go. While she could be rather arrogant, she wasn’t unscrupulous like Gu Qingran, who would do anything to achieve her goals.
Besides, Su Zhaozhao had a great relationship with her own mother-in-law, so she wanted to make peace with Jiang Manzhi as well.
“I suspect you’ll just make her angry,” Xie Huaizheng said with a faint smile.
Su Zhaozhao’s magnanimous gesture might actually displease Jiang Manzhi.
“I don’t think so. I don’t think she’s that petty. Besides, I’m the one proactively giving her a gift. You could say I’m trying to win her over.”
