Heavenly Dungeon: My Subordinates Are All Woman Monsters
Chapter 42: Private Room
Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Private Room
The first floor that had once been nothing more than a collection of corridors had been transformed into something far more elaborate.
Ragnar stared at the completed layout for several moments, silently admiring his work. The dungeon no longer felt like the crude structure he had first inherited from the system.
It now had different sections, different routes, hidden areas, monster territories, treasure rooms, traps, and several chambers specifically designed to become battlefields. An adventurer could no longer simply enter through the front entrance and expect to understand the dungeon’s structure after walking through a few corridors.
There were too many possibilities.
Too many paths.
Too many things waiting for them.
Ragnar nodded in satisfaction.
"Much better."
Veyra, who was still sitting comfortably on his lap, looked over the floating map and smiled.
"It certainly feels more like a proper dungeon now, My Lord."
Ragnar glanced down at her.
"That’s the idea."
He then remembered something.
"There is one more thing."
Veyra tilted her head.
"Your room."
Veyra’s crimson eyes immediately brightened.
"Right, my room."
Ragnar opened the construction menu once again and selected the private room option.
[Private Room]
[Create a personal room for a dungeon subordinate.]
[Cost: 5 Soul Points]
Ragnar looked at the price.
He didn’t hesitate.
"Purchase."
[Ding!]
[Five Soul Points have been consumed.]
[Private Room Created.]
A new section appeared on the dungeon map.
Ragnar positioned it relatively close to his own room, just as Veyra had requested. It wasn’t directly connected to the throne room, but it was close enough that reaching him wouldn’t require traveling through half of the dungeon.
Veyra looked at the newly created room.
"My Lord remembered."
"Of course I remembered."
Ragnar began adjusting the room’s size.
The basic room provided by the system was rather plain, consisting of stone walls, a stone floor, and a simple ceiling. It looked more like an empty underground chamber than somewhere a powerful demon would actually want to live.
Veyra stared at it for a few seconds.
"My Lord..."
"Hm?"
"Is that supposed to be my room?"
Ragnar looked at the chamber.
"...Apparently."
Veyra slowly shook her head.
"It looks rather boring."
"I agree."
Ragnar opened the decoration menu.
"Then we’ll change it."
He began modifying the room.
The ordinary gray stone walls darkened until they became almost black, while strange crimson patterns appeared across the surface. The floor changed into dark volcanic stone, and several enormous pillars rose from the ground, their surfaces carved with unfamiliar demonic symbols.
Ragnar added several red magical crystals along the walls.
Their faint glow illuminated the chamber with a deep crimson light.
Then he changed the ceiling.
Instead of leaving it as ordinary stone, he created an illusion of a dark, endless sky filled with faint red clouds and distant embers.
It wasn’t an actual outside environment, but the system generated it so realistically that anyone standing beneath it would feel as though they were inside another world.
Veyra’s expression gradually became more satisfied.
"Now this looks much better."
He opened another menu.
[Environmental Features]
[Volcanic Environment]
[Demonic Environment]
[Infernal Environment]
[Corrupted Forest]
[Blood Marsh]
Ragnar selected Demonic Environment.
[Demonic Environment activated.]
The entire room immediately changed.
The air became warmer.
A faint smell of sulfur spread throughout the chamber, while several small cracks appeared across the floor with crimson light glowing beneath them.
Tiny flames occasionally flickered from the cracks before disappearing again.
Veyra looked around with obvious satisfaction.
"My Lord understands me very well."
"I just chose something that looked appropriate."
"Of course."
Her smile became mischievous.
"Whatever you say, My Lord."
Ragnar ignored the teasing and opened the monster placement menu, but before he could purchase anything else, his eyes drifted toward the throne room around him.
The enormous chamber was impressive enough to serve as the heart of the dungeon, but there was one problem that had been bothering him ever since he had arrived in this world.
He didn’t have a proper place to sleep.
Ragnar had been spending his nights on the throne.
At first, he hadn’t cared.
There had been far more important things to worry about when he first became a Dungeon Master. He needed monsters, traps, treasures, and a way to keep himself alive. Compared to all of that, sleeping arrangements had seemed completely irrelevant.
But now that the dungeon had begun to develop, Ragnar felt that continuing to sleep on the throne was becoming rather ridiculous.
He was a four-meter-tall demon with a massive body and a huge greatsword strapped across his back. The throne had been designed to accommodate his enormous frame, but it was still a throne, not a bed.
Ragnar looked toward one of the walls.
"I need a room too."
Veyra looked at him.
"You finally thought of that, My Lord."
Ragnar gave her a slightly embarrassed look.
"I’ve been busy."
There was a hint of amusement in Veyra’s voice, as though she found it entertaining that her supposedly mighty Dungeon Master had only just realized he needed somewhere to sleep.
Ragnar ignored her teasing and opened the construction menu again.
He didn’t want a room that was directly visible from the throne room. The throne was the heart of the dungeon, and he wanted it to remain that way. Anyone who somehow reached this far should see the throne, but they didn’t need to know where he slept.
After looking through the available options, Ragnar found exactly what he wanted.
[Hidden Private Room]
[Creates a concealed personal room within the dungeon.]
[Entrance can be disguised as part of the surrounding structure.]
[Cost: 5 Soul Points]
Ragnar stared at the price.
"Another five..."
He hesitated for several seconds before finally nodding.
"Fine. I’ll buy it."
[Ding!]
[Five Soul Points have been consumed.]
[Hidden Private Room Created.]
A section of the wall behind the throne suddenly began to change.
The stone shifted silently, sinking deeper into the wall before forming a concealed passage. A small chamber appeared behind it, completely hidden from anyone standing inside the throne room. From the outside, the wall looked almost untouched, with only a faint outline where the hidden door could be opened.
Ragnar walked over and pressed his enormous hand against the wall.
Click.
The stone moved inward, and a doorway appeared.
Ragnar stepped inside, the room was surprisingly spacious.
