Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Redesigning The First Floor

Of course, compared to Veyra, who stood at Level 30, he was still weaker. However, Ragnar no longer felt as helpless as he had when he first entered this strange world.

He was growing.

And more importantly, his dungeon was growing with him.

Ragnar opened the dungeon management interface.

Several options immediately appeared before his eyes.

[Dungeon Management]

[Current Dungeon Floor: 1]

[Dungeon Upgrade: 50 Soul Points]

[Dungeon Layout]

[Monster Shop]

[Trap Shop]

[Treasure Shop]

[Dungeon Decoration]

Ragnar stared at the requirement for a second floor.

"Fifty Soul Points..."

He glanced toward his current Soul Point count.

[Available Soul Points: 46]

He was only four points away.

Ragnar rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

"Once I get four more, I can unlock the second floor."

Veyra tilted her head while remaining comfortably seated on his lap.

"Would my Lord like to expand the dungeon immediately?"

Ragnar considered the question.

A second floor certainly sounded useful. More space meant more rooms, more monsters, more traps, and more opportunities to confuse intruders. It would also make the dungeon appear much larger and more dangerous to anyone exploring it.

However, after thinking about it for a while, Ragnar shook his head.

"Not yet."

Veyra looked at him curiously.

"Why?"

"Because I don’t think I need another floor right now."

Ragnar opened the dungeon map.

The first floor appeared as a simple layout before him. It consisted of the entrance hall, several corridors, the treasure room, the areas where he had placed monsters and traps, and finally the throne room at the deepest part of the dungeon.

Ragnar stared at the map for several seconds.

The dungeon was functional. But it was also extremely simple.

Anyone with enough strength could simply push their way through it.

The monsters were scattered around the corridors, while the traps were mostly designed to slow or weaken intruders. The treasure room had worked surprisingly well as bait, but Ragnar now realized that he could do much more.

"If I add another floor now, I’ll just be making the dungeon bigger."

His finger moved across the floating map.

"What I really need is to make the first floor better."

He wasn’t dissatisfied with the monsters.

The wolves had performed well.

The spiders had been useful.

The poisonous bats had caused plenty of trouble.

The Windfang Beasts had also done their job.

But Ragnar had noticed something important during the battle.

The adventurers had been able to understand the dungeon’s patterns.

Once they realized what kind of monsters were attacking them, they adapted.

He began dragging sections of the dungeon around on the interface.

The system immediately responded.

[Dungeon Layout Modification]

[Available Functions:]

[Create Corridor]

[Create Room]

[Create Intersection]

[Create Dead End]

[Connect Existing Areas]

[Rearrange Dungeon Structure]

[Dungeon Construction]

[Private Room]

[Special Environment]

[Floor Expansion]

[World-Type Floor]

Ragnar’s eyes lit up.

"Oh."

He began redesigning the first floor.

The straight corridors were the first thing to go.

Ragnar changed several of them into winding passages, creating intersections where multiple paths branched in different directions. Some corridors would lead toward useful rooms, while others would end in dead ends containing nothing but a few scattered treasures.

Then he created several larger chambers between the corridors.

"These can be monster zones."

He placed his finger over one of them.

Instead of allowing monsters to wander randomly throughout the dungeon, Ragnar could turn certain rooms into controlled battlefields.

A room filled with giant spiders. Another occupied by poisonous bats.

A narrow corridor where wolves could attack from both sides.

A larger chamber where several types of monsters could work together.

The possibilities continued to expand.

Ragnar’s expression became increasingly excited.

"And here..."

He stopped at a large empty chamber.

"This one should be different."

Veyra looked at the screen.

"What does my Lord intend to place there?"

Ragnar smiled.

"A mini-boss."

Ragnar’s eyes remained fixed on the dungeon map, and the more he studied it, the more he realized just how much potential the first floor actually had. There was no reason to rush toward the second floor simply because he had nearly accumulated enough Soul Points to unlock it.

A larger dungeon would certainly be useful in the future, but if the first floor remained this simple, then adding another floor would only give intruders more empty space to walk through. What he needed first was quality, not quantity.

Ragnar leaned back against his throne, his enormous four-meter-tall body making the massive seat look almost appropriately sized for him.

His greatsword remained strapped across his back, its enormous blade resting over one shoulder, while Veyra was still comfortably sitting on his lap as though she had already decided that was her permanent place.

After thinking for a while, Ragnar suddenly looked down at her.

"Veyra."

"Hm?"

"I also need to give you your own room."

Veyra’s expression immediately changed.

Her crimson eyes widened slightly before she puffed out her cheeks and looked at him.

"But, My Lord..."

"I’m perfectly fine staying here."

She deliberately leaned closer against his chest, making her intentions extremely obvious.

"This place is comfortable."

Ragnar sighed.

"That’s exactly why you need your own room."

Veyra stared at him for a few seconds before letting out a smirk.

"I’m just teasing you, my lord. I will do whatever you ordered me to do."

"But I have a few conditions."

Ragnar already had a feeling he wouldn’t like this.

"What conditions?"

"I want my room to have a proper demonic environment."

Ragnar nodded.

"That’s easy enough."

"And..."

Veyra lifted one finger.

"I want it close to your room."

Ragnar thought about it for a moment. There wasn’t really any reason to refuse.

"Alright."

Veyra’s eyes immediately brightened.

"Thank you, My Lord."

She smiled sweetly before settling against him again.

Ragnar shook his head with amusement and turned his attention back toward the system.

The moment he opened the Dungeon Management interface, several translucent windows appeared in front of him.

Unlike the humans who had entered his dungeon, Ragnar wasn’t the only one capable of seeing the system’s interface. His subordinates could see it as well.

They didn’t necessarily understand everything about the strange system or where it came from, but they could perceive its existence and interact with certain functions when Ragnar allowed them to.
