Heavenly Dungeon: My Subordinates Are All Woman Monsters
Chapter 105: So This Is The Goblin Village
Chapter 105: Chapter 105: So This Is The Goblin Village
A group of five adventurers was pinned down near the entrance to the village. They had taken shelter behind a collection of broken wooden barricades, using them to shield themselves from the continuous rain of arrows coming from the goblins’ defensive positions. Every time one of them attempted to move forward, several arrows would immediately fly toward them, forcing them to retreat.
Their equipment was battered, and their movements revealed how exhausted they had become. Judging from their auras and the status information available through the system, they were only around Level 15, considerably weaker than the members of the Mad Wolves.
One of the five adventurers cautiously raised his head to check the situation, only to hurriedly duck when an arrow struck the wooden barricade beside him.
"Damn it! How many arrows do these goblins have?" he shouted in frustration.
"Stop complaining and keep your head down!" another adventurer yelled. "Unless you want an arrow through your skull, stay behind the barricade!"
"We can’t keep this up forever! Our potions are almost gone, and we’re running out of mana. If we don’t break through their defenses soon, we’ll be forced to retreat!"
"Retreat where? We barely survived the monsters in the previous areas! If we go back now, we’ll have wasted everything we came here for!"
Their argument was interrupted by another volley of arrows. The five adventurers immediately pressed themselves against the barricade, unable to advance or retreat without exposing themselves to the goblins’ attacks.
From the watchtowers and behind the wooden walls, the goblins continued firing with alarming coordination. Rather than charging recklessly at their enemies, they remained behind their defenses and used their numerical advantage to keep the adventurers trapped in place.
Kyle’s expression turned serious as he observed the situation.
He had expected the goblin village to be more challenging than the previous areas, but he had not anticipated finding another group already struggling to survive there. Judging by their condition, the five adventurers had been fighting for quite some time, and if the Mad Wolves had arrived a little later, they might have suffered serious casualties.
One of his companions frowned. "Captain, those five look like low-level adventurers. They’re probably around Level 20. Should we help them?"
Kyle did not hesitate, he tightened his grip on his greatsword and looked toward his teammates.
"Go save them first. The front line will break through the arrows and draw the goblins’ attention, while the ranged fighters suppress their archers. Don’t spread out, and watch for any goblins hiding behind the barricades. We don’t know how many of them are waiting inside the village, so don’t charge too deeply."
The members of the Mad Wolves immediately moved into formation.
Kyle stepped forward, his greatsword resting firmly in his hands. His expression was calm, but his eyes had sharpened as he studied the distance between their position and the five trapped adventurers.
"Move!"
At Kyle’s command, the Mad Wolves charged out of the passage.
The goblin archers immediately noticed the new arrivals and began redirecting their attacks. A fresh rain of arrows descended upon the approaching adventurers, but the Mad Wolves were far better equipped and coordinated than the group they had come to rescue.
The front line raised their shields and advanced together, deflecting the incoming arrows while maintaining their formation. Several arrows struck their armor, producing sharp metallic sounds, but none managed to penetrate their defenses.
Meanwhile, the ranged fighters launched their own attacks.
Arrows streaked across the chamber, while fireballs and other offensive spells flew toward the goblins stationed on the watchtowers. The sudden counterattack forced the goblin archers to abandon their comfortable positions and seek cover, reducing the pressure on the five adventurers trapped near the barricades.
Seeing an opportunity, Kyle accelerated.
His Berserker class allowed him to unleash tremendous physical strength, and with his greatsword in hand, he charged straight toward the nearest defensive barricade. An arrow struck his shoulder armor, but he barely paid attention to it.
"Get out of my way!"
He swung his greatsword with overwhelming force.
The blade crashed into the wooden barricade, splintering its supports and sending broken planks flying in every direction. Before the nearby goblins could react, Kyle followed with another sweeping strike, forcing them to scatter and abandon their positions.
The Mad Wolves surged forward behind him, quickly taking control of the area.
"Move toward us!" one of the adventurers shouted to the five trapped men. "We’ll cover you! Get away from that barricade before the goblins surround you!"
The five adventurers stared at their rescuers in disbelief. They had been struggling against the goblins for so long that they had almost accepted the possibility of being wiped out. Now, a much stronger group had suddenly appeared and was pushing back the monsters that had kept them trapped.
"Someone actually came to help us!" one of them exclaimed.
"Stop staring and move!" another shouted. "Do you want to die here?"
They immediately abandoned their defensive position and ran toward the Mad Wolves, using the opening created by Kyle and his companions. The goblins attempted to shoot at them again, but the ranged fighters of the Mad Wolves quickly suppressed the archers, preventing them from landing any accurate shots.
Within moments, the five adventurers had reached safety.
Kyle glanced at them briefly while keeping his greatsword ready. "Can you still fight?"
One of the five, who appeared to be their leader, nodded hurriedly. "Yes, although we’re exhausted. Thank you for saving us. We thought we were going to die here."
"Save your thanks for later," Kyle replied. "Get behind our formation and recover your stamina."
Kyle turned his attention back to the goblin village.
The goblins were still gathering behind their barricades, and the sounds of movement coming from deeper within the settlement suggested that more monsters were preparing to join the battle.
His expression grew more serious.
"So this is the goblin village," he muttered, raising his greatsword.
The Mad Wolves did not waste any time after rescuing the five adventurers. Under Kyle’s command, they reorganized their formation and began advancing toward the goblin village. The five rescued adventurers quickly retreated behind them, grateful to finally have a moment to catch their breath without worrying about being struck by arrows.
The goblins, however, had no intention of allowing their enemies to approach so easily.
