Chapter 949: Chapter 386: The Expulsion of Gellert Grindelwald and Vivi’s Fury (Part 2)
"In short," Little Sirius coughed twice, "I have to live in the Ministry of Magic recently, given the significant events that have occurred... Also, Villatia thinks you should be informed about the matters involving Lanlock and Voldemort."
"I also need to head to the U.S.," Harry said.
"You probably won’t be able to," Little Sirius said regretfully, "After all, to go to the U.S., you need a visa... Trust me, the American Magic Congress is the worst institution I’ve ever seen, you wouldn’t want to get involved in that hassle."
"Alright," Harry shrugged, "It’s their problem anyway."
The two chatted for a few more moments before hanging up.
"So," Ron cautiously asked, "You-Know-Who—I mean, is Voldemort back? Has he returned again?"
"Yes." Harry nodded, "He has seven Soul Artifacts, meaning he can’t completely die for now."
Ron gulped.
"Is there anything I can do to help?" he asked, "Just tell me if you need anything."
"No worries, mate." Harry patted Ron’s shoulder and said with a smile, "You heard it just now, he’s not our problem for the time being."
"Oh, right." Ron grinned, "He’s in the U.S. now, isn’t he? I heard the American Magic Congress doesn’t seem very keen on accepting our help..."
They sat a while longer in Diagon Alley, and as night fell, they left Florin’s ice cream shop and returned to their respective homes.
Originally, Ron suggested heading back to number twelve Grimmauld Square together, but Seamus wasn’t in a good mood, and Neville had to report back to his grandmother, so Ron didn’t insist.
Upon arriving home, they saw Hermione sitting on the sofa, seemingly waiting for them.
"How was it?" she asked, "Lavender and Seamus."
"Don’t mention it."
Ron waved his hand, sat beside Hermione, and gossipingly detailed what had just happened.
Hermione’s expression went from confused to disdainful, then transitioned to a long sigh.
"It can’t be helped," she said, "After all, Lavender’s grandmother is sick, and it’s just unlucky for Seamus."
"Who’s to say otherwise?" Ron agreed.
Harry didn’t stay in the living room; after saying goodnight to the pair, he headed upstairs.
In the room, Vivi was not present—given such a significant event, logically, Vivi should be back at her office at the Ministry of Magic.
Although she was only the minister of the Great German Ministry of Magic, she was, after all, a committee member of the International Wizarding Union.
The International Wizarding Union is an intergovernmental organization in the Magic World, roughly equivalent to the United Nations in the Muggle World.
Speaking of this organization, the establishment and implementation of the Wizarding Secrecy Law must be mentioned.
The Wizarding Secrecy Law, formally the International Wizarding Federation Confidentiality Law. In 1692, the Federation began implementing the law, hiding the Magic World from the Muggle World.
After weeks of intense discussions, they meticulously studied ways to conceal the Magic World, including hiding Magical Creatures and eliminating their presence from Muggle awareness.
Between 1991 and 1995, the president of the International Wizarding Union was Dumbledore, but due to the British Ministry of Magic’s refusal to acknowledge Voldemort’s return, and Fudge’s covert maneuvers, Dumbledore’s committee membership was revoked, and concurrently, he was removed from the presidency of the International Wizarding Union.
Vivi was absent, but Cassandra was in Harry’s room reading.
She wore gold-rimmed glasses, appearing elegant and somewhat ascetic.
"Cassandra?" Harry said, a bit surprised.
Cassandra did not look up but said to Harry: "I heard there’s an International Wizarding Union conference this August, and that woman Grindelwald seems to be running for the presidency."
"Can she succeed?" Harry furrowed his brow, "She’s only nineteen this year, right? Can the International Wizarding Union elect such a young witch as president?"
"It’s hard to say." Cassandra smiled, "You should know how capable Grindelwald is now. She just needs to present her ideas, and others will naturally strive to help her achieve them."
"Makes sense," Harry acknowledged Cassandra’s point.
It’s worth noting, Cassandra is also a committee member of the International Wizarding Union, which is why she knows about Vivi’s election plans.
As for why Cassandra became a committee member...
Let’s just say the Malfoy Clan has invisible hands exerting influence.
Harry stepped forward, naturally sitting at the edge of Cassandra’s chair, casually wrapping an arm around her waist.
Though not as slender as Vivi’s waist, it’s still well above average compared to most people.
This is why you keep touching her leg?
Vivi’s waist, Cassandra’s legs, and Pabi’s... ahem, all are Harry’s favorites.
"But I think... um..." Cassandra didn’t stop Harry’s movements but pretended to be aloof, saying, "Grindelwald may not be able to succeed—think about it, she has already annexed the magic ministries of nine countries and become the minister of the Great German Ministry of Magic. If she goes further and formally becomes the president of the International Wizarding Union, who in the Magic World could defy her?"
"Power doesn’t come from a title, Kathy," Harry was rather open-minded.
Unexpectedly, Cassandra laughed.
"Of course, I know where power comes from! Think about it, who in this world, other than you, can stop Grindelwald?"
Upon thinking about it, Harry realized it was true.
Just like seventy years ago, only Dumbledore could stop Grindelwald, now only Potter could stop Grindelwald.
But the problem is, back then, Dumbledore and Grindelwald had long been divided, while now, Potter and Grindelwald are clearly still in a passionate relationship.
Relying on Potter to deal with Lady Grindelwald is about as hopeful as expecting the sun to rise from the west.
"If she becomes the president of the International Wizarding Union..." Cassandra shook her head, chuckled, and sighed.
"The Muggles will be in trouble..." She thought inwardly.
But she didn’t say it out loud. What’s it to Miss Malfoy how the Muggles fare?
She’s not a Muggle.
The next day, everything was as usual.
Harry kept up with the Prophet Daily, along with real-time news from Little Sirius, and the chat group happenings in the newly developed chat software of the Crystal Ball.
Unfortunately, there was still no news of Voldemort.
However, on the third day, a major incident occurred.
Gellert Grindelwald was deported by the U.S., and they even ambushed him.
Harry didn’t know the specific details, but he did see the real-time footage Gellert uploaded to the group—those American wizards didn’t greet him, seeing him come, they drew their Magic Wands and began casting magic, showing no sense of reason.
Upon learning the news, Vivi was furious and immediately planned to head to the U.S. to show the American Magic Congress something.
Gellert added fuel to the fire, bringing up his past experiences in America to further agitate.
"Sister!" Gellert sighed with his head lowered, "I held no grudge for how they imprisoned me and cut off my tongue in the past, going to help them—Look at how they treat me again? Not giving me any chance to defend myself, they ambushed me and deported me. Is this how they treat someone who came to help them? I am not only Gellert Grindelwald, but I am also the envoy of the Great German Ministry of Magic, representing your dignity, the Minister of Magic!"
