Harry Returning from Hogwarts Legacy
Chapter 945 - 384: Vernon and James_2
Chapter 945: Chapter 384: Vernon and James_2
The other boys in the compartment also laughed, especially Peter, who laughed in a high-pitched voice.
Lily straightened up, her face flushed, looked at James with disgust, and then at Little Sirius.
"Let’s go, Severus, we’ll find another compartment."
"Oh oh oh oh..."
James and Little Sirius mimicked Lily’s haughty voice, and as Snape walked past, James stuck out his leg to trip him.
"See you, Snot Spirit!" a voice shouted, and the compartment door slammed shut...
"Looks like your father..." Vivi opened her mouth, searching for the right adjective in her mind, "has a real talent in giving nicknames."
"I’m not as good as him at that," Harry shrugged, "I’ve only come up with two nicknames so far, one is for Draco, ’dramaco,’ and the other is for Gellert, ’nifflert.’
"Otherwise, how could you be his son, right?" Vivi shook her head and sighed, "I can imagine, if you grew up in your dad’s family, you’d probably be even more annoying than him."
"Hey!" Harry protested, "That’s my dad!"
"Yes, and also my legal dad." Vivi rolled her eyes.
Harry changed the subject, "I guess this is where it all starts, when Snape gets targeted by my dad...The memory should end here, right?" He asked, looking at the pitch black screen.
"There’s one more part," Vivi said.
As soon as she finished speaking, the scene turned into a whirlpool.
Soon, they found themselves at the Evans family home.
Penny, who was already an adult, sat in the dining room, with a sturdy man beside her.
It was Uncle Vernon, Harry recognized him immediately—after all, that unmistakable big face was too recognizable.
"Your sister?" Uncle Vernon was still asking Aunt Penny, "When are the two of them supposed to arrive?"
"Soon, Vernon." Aunt Penny forced a smile, but as she spoke, she kept lifting her watch-wearing hand, constantly glancing.
Harry whispered to Vivi, "This should be after they graduated, right? Let me think...At this time, Uncle Vernon is still very thin, they haven’t had Dudley or me yet, right?"
"It should be before they got married," Vivi softly replied, "Lily told me about this, she regretted not mending her relationship with her sister."
Harry nodded as if realizing something.
In no time, Lily and James appeared at the Evans’s house door.
"Darling," James was somewhat reluctant, "Why do we have to come here? I mean...uh, we’re wizards, we surely don’t need to maintain relations on the Muggle side, do we?"
"James! That’s still my sister and future brother-in-law!" Lily glared at James, "Even though our relationship was terrible before, I still want to mend my relationship with my sister—we may be wizards, but we’re still human...When you go in, try to speak as little as possible! Do you hear me!"
James agreed, but his attitude was somewhat perfunctory.
Harry noticed that James’s attire was very informal—compared to the meticulously dressed Uncle Vernon, James looked like a member of a rock band.
They went inside and sat in front of Aunt Penny and Uncle Vernon.
After introductions, both sides sat down.
Harry could clearly see the superiority in Uncle Vernon’s eyes when he looked at James, and also the indifference in James’s eyes.
James’s indifference, however, did not go unnoticed by Uncle Vernon.
"So, you’re Lily’s sister’s boyfriend?" Uncle Vernon said, "Penny told me she has a sister, um...a bit peculiar, I know it’s hard to accept, but I love Penny...how did you get here? What car did you drive?"
James chuckled.
"We didn’t take a car, Dursley," James’s tone was somewhat carefree, "I rode the latest model of Lightning Broom—you probably don’t know about such things, but that’s okay, Muggles can’t understand Quidditch matches after all—"
"Quidditch..." Uncle Vernon sneered, "Are you saying you ride brooms to play such a thing?"
"Yes." Once Quidditch was mentioned, James perked up and began to proudly introduce Quidditch to Vernon.
However, Vernon was not interested in that, and was instead more concerned about the lives of wizards.
"So do you do any work related to Quidditch?" he asked.
"No," James answered.
"I suppose you wizards can’t find any decent job, can you?" Uncle Vernon began to speculate loudly, "I bet you need unemployment benefits to get by, right? Must not have any respectable job, otherwise, you wouldn’t act so...carefree."
"Vernon," Penny nudged Uncle Vernon softly.
But Vernon had no intention of stopping, somewhat angered by James’s "arrogant" attitude.
After all, he was a man too.
"Ha ha."
Unexpectedly, James was not angry, instead, he laughed.
"It seems you don’t know about the power of the Potter family, Vernon." James chuckled, "But it’s normal for you not to know, after all, you’re a Muggle, you don’t know the status of the Potter family in the Magic World at all—you know, the shampoos and Bone Spirit, the best-sellers in the Magic World, all were developed by the Potter family, my parents left me unlimited Golden Galleons at Gringotts—Golden Galleons, are Gold Coins, glittering gold, pure gold."
At the end, James added.
"Sorry, I forgot you’re a Muggle," he said mockingly, "Muggles don’t know what Gringotts is, nor can they understand Golden Galleons."
Vernon’s pink face turned purplish-red instantly; he trembled for a bit, standing up in anger.
Meanwhile, Penny also stood up with Vernon.
"Seems like you didn’t come here to mend things with me, Lily," Penny said sharply, "You came to flaunt with your boyfriend, didn’t you? Come to find a sense of superiority over us ordinary folks—look, we’re wizards, so amazing, something you ordinary people just don’t understand...but I tell you, Lily, you are just a freak, a complete freak!"
Having said that, Penny dragged Vernon out of the kitchen.
Lily sat in her chair, clearly not understanding what had just happened yet.
By the time she understood what had happened, it was too late.
Penny and Vernon had already left, leaving the two of them sitting in the kitchen, the dinner ending in an unhappy manner.
"Why..." Lily’s tears began to fall, "Why did you do that? Oh, James...didn’t I ask, as much as possible to endure?"
"Sorry, Lily." James, still a bit annoyed, said, "Look at what your sister’s fiancé was doing, if I could have held back then, then I wouldn’t be a man..."
"Being told off for a bit is nothing, can’t you just endure it?" Lily looked at James with sorrow, "He just said a few words, why did you have to contend over such trivial matters?"
James opened his mouth, but then closed it, feeling defeated.
He had never endured; even Voldemort couldn’t make him relent in the slightest.
Let alone, a pompous Muggle?
That Muggle had been displaying some hinted superiority since they entered, James saw it clearly.
But for Lily, he was willing to swallow his pride.
"I promise you, Lily." He said, feeling disheartened, "There won’t be another incident like this; next time I see Vernon and Penny, I’ll make sure to find a way to mend the ties."
