Chapter 918: Chapter 371: Voldemort’s Nefarious Scheme

Dumbledore thought carefully and realized, damn, it’s indeed the truth.

Gellert’s plans regarding Muggles also only existed in plans.

You can’t convict someone just because they "thought" about something, right? That would be too unprincipled.

"Alright, shouldn’t we be doing something important now, instead of criticizing me here?" Gellert spread his hands and said, "I think you guys should focus on getting rid of these Soul Artifacts, don’t you think?"

Harry pulled out his wand and aimed it at the next Soul Artifact—Marvolo Gaunt’s ring.

"Legilimens!"

With the familiar dizzying feeling, Harry found himself on a rural path this time.

With just a glance, Harry knew where he was.

This was the fork leading to Great and Little Hangleton.

Could it be... this time the memory is about Tom going back to kill his uncle?

He had just planned to walk towards Gaunt’s Old Mansion when he heard some jingling bell sounds and the clatter of horse hooves.

Turning his head, Harry saw two horses: one was a glossy chestnut horse with a handsome and charming young man with black hair sitting on it; beside him was a pretty girl riding a gray horse.

Their outfits were very fitting for that era, and it was clear the young man was a respectable gentleman.

Of course, what confirmed his identity to Harry was that face—the face that was identical to young Voldemort’s.

Clearly, this person’s identity was obvious.

Tom Riddle, Voldemort’s biological father, a poor, tragic university student.

"Tom, you obviously didn’t tell me how beautiful the scenery here is." The girl looked at Tom’s profile with her eyes shining bright—whether she meant the scenery is beautiful or the face of the man in front of her is beautiful was unclear.

A face can be considered scenery too.

"Now you’ve seen it, Cecilia." Tom smiled warmly, perfectly embodying gentlemanly manners. "I have to give you some surprises, right?" he said.

"How much longer until we reach your home?" Cecilia asked, looking up.

"We’re almost there, you see."

Tom said, pointing to the road sign beside him.

It read "Great Hangleton, 5 miles" and "Little Hangleton, 1 mile."

"Just one more mile to go," Tom said.

"Let’s wander around a bit more, Tom," Cecilia pouted to Tom, "the scenery here is so lovely, I want to see a bit more..."

"Alright, alright..." Tom indulgently patted Cecilia’s shoulder and said to her, "Then we shall wander around here a bit more."

They did not proceed towards Little Hangleton but moved in the direction of Great Hangleton.

Harry followed along, jumping onto Tom’s horse to step there and move along—after all, it’s his world to control, he couldn’t fall off no matter how much it bounces.

Joking, he wouldn’t choose to walk over there on foot.

However, Harry was also puzzled as to why there would be memories of Old Tom Riddle inside the Soul Artifact. Could it be that Voldemort read the opponent’s memory after murdering his father?

As they continued forward, Harry noticed that not far ahead was the dilapidated Gaunt’s Old Mansion.

"Goodness, what a dreadful eyesore." Cecilia looked somewhat reluctantly at that old mansion, "Tom, can’t your father tear down that little shabby shack?"

"That’s not ours, Cecilia." Tom explained gently, "The other side of the valley belongs to us, but this little wooden house—um, belongs to an old tramp named Gaunt and his children... I should tell you, his son is quite deranged, you really ought to hear what the villagers say about him."

Harry perked up his ears; whether Cecilia wanted to know or not, he wasn’t interested, but he did want to know how the villagers gossiped about the Gaunt family.

Oh, although it’s not very nice for Omnius... it seems Omnius’s family isn’t from around here anyway?

Hearing Tom’s words, Cecilia laughed.

Then, she was surprised and covered her mouth.

"Tom?" Cecilia pointed at the door, "Am I seeing things? Did someone nail a snake to that door?"

"Yes, you’re not mistaken." Tom said with a chuckle, "I warned you earlier, dear—it’s definitely done by his son, I’ve said his mind isn’t too normal... Please don’t keep looking at it, alright, dear?"

After thinking for a moment, Harry decided to jump off and go inside Gaunt’s Old Mansion to take a look.

He really wanted to know what the woman who captured the poor male university student back to have a child looked like.

Upon entering the house, Harry noticed there were several people inside—besides Moffin Gaunt whom he recognized, there was also a peculiar looking person.

Calling him peculiar would be a compliment—his body was entirely out of proportion: shoulders too broad, arms long like a gorilla; and with his bright eyes and short, coarse hair, plus an underbite, he really resembled an old monkey.

Uh...

Harry felt a little nauseous. Why did everyone in the Gaunt family, except for Omnius and her aunt Nokot, look so, well... indescribable?

Maybe not indescribable.

This must be Marvolo Gaunt, Omnius’s cousin, Voldemort’s grandfather—he had a black ring glittering on his hand.

Beside Marvolo Gaunt stood a woman looking terribly nervous, wearing a tattered gray dress that matched the color of the dirty stone wall behind her.
