Chapter 1033: Chapter 428: Vivi’s New Home and the Desire for Magic Refueling (2)
This moment pulled Harry’s memory back to Vienna a hundred years ago.
Back then, Harry rode this broomstick to help Vivi retrieve the Princess Crown hung on a tree by some mean girls.
In the corner of the room, an old-fashioned phonograph poured out Schubert’s "Winter Journey" through a giant brass horn, its sound carrying a touch of antiquity, as if crossing over from a century ago.
After all, old Austrians enjoy listening to this tune.
"So magnificent..." Harry murmured.
He instantly fell in love with this house.
The whole of No. 13 Grimmo Square, after being reshaped by Vivi’s will and aesthetics, perfectly exhibited the elegance, depth, and mystery of 19th-century aesthetics, alongside a calm and controlled luxury.
"Only someone with Grindelwald’s taste could design such a house."
Though Cassandra said this, the envy in her eyes was unmistakable.
One must admit, the aesthetics of Slytherin might indeed share similarities.
"The bedrooms are on the second and third floors," Vivi introduced, "The third floor houses our master bedroom; the second floor is all guest rooms... I’ve arranged some magic at the entrance to the third floor; apart from us few, no one can step onto the third floor."
"Of course," Vivi continued, "The third-floor bedrooms have four rooms in total. Apart from the one near the inner side, you can sleep wherever you like."
"What about mine?" Harry immediately protested.
"Ha." Vivi suddenly turned her head, her eyes turning into dismissive dots of disdain: "Which room you want to sleep in is your own business, isn’t it?"
Really got a deal, this guy, Vivi thought to herself.
Of course, tonight Harry sure has a lot on his plate.
...
Early the next morning, Harry was still the first one to wake up.
No choice, a human Magic Stone is just like that; no matter how long they rest, they always revive in full.
Actually, he could have skipped resting, but it was a habit, right?
It was not until noon that they all gradually got up.
When entering the living room, Vivi looked at Harry with a gaze full of resentment.
"Have some milk." Harry picked up the milk from the table and handed it to Vivi.
Vivi took the milk, seemed to ponder some diverging thoughts, glared fiercely at Harry, then tilted her head back and gulped down the milk.
"The class reunion is this afternoon," Harry said, "Imelda mentioned it in the group chat earlier. We should head over early... The original plan was for the party to officially start at three-thirty, but I think we shouldn’t arrive just in time, should we?"
"Let’s go a bit earlier then," Vivi said yawning, sat next to Harry, then flipped over and straddled Harry’s lap, "I seem to be out of magic again—"
Liar, your blonde hair is bright enough to match the sun, yet you claim to have no magic?
"Want some more?" Harry asked with a mischievous smile.
Vivi’s face froze.
Then she opened her mouth and bit Harry’s neck fiercely.
"Ouch, it hurts—" Harry laughed, though Vivi didn’t really use force, it was just play.
Until Vivi planted three "strawberries" on Harry’s neck, only then did she let him off satisfied.
After a bit of laughter, Vivi climbed off Harry and leaned on the sofa, starting to browse the messages on her phone.
As Minister of Magic, she indeed had many things to deal with daily—considering she had to manage affairs from so many different countries.
"Anything happening?" Harry asked with concern.
"Nothing much," Vivi smiled lightly, "Remember the meeting from Little Sirius’s wedding? The former Argentine Minister of Magic has passed away, and the funeral is scheduled for the day after tomorrow, with countries agreeing to continue discussions at the funeral that were left unfinished."
"So, is this what they call ’funeral diplomacy’?" Harry asked curiously.
"Yes," Vivi nodded seriously, "Actually, the former Argentine Minister of Magic contributed nothing significant and even caused quite some trouble... But there’s a saying to this effect, his death contributed more than anything he did while alive, isn’t that so?"
"Indeed," Harry said holding back laughter.
After sitting in the house for a whole morning, around two o’clock, the group boarded the previously arranged Nightmare Horse Carriage, heading to the party venue.
"I’ve always wondered why people prefer using Nightmares to pull carriages," Harry said in the carriage, "You see, Nightmare creatures can only be seen by those who’ve witnessed death, isn’t that somewhat ominous?"
While speaking, Harry looked through the windshield at a few Nightmares outside.
They had no flesh at all; their black fur clung tightly to their skeletons, each bone visible.
Heads resembling a dragon’s, eyeless and pure white, staring forward intently.
Wings sprout from the raised shoulder bones—large, black, and resilient, seemingly belonging to a giant bat.
Pabi chuckled and told Harry, "There was indeed a time when people believed that, the superstitious considered these creatures very ominous, bringing terrible disasters to those who saw them, like a sign of doom."
"You should have learned in Magical Creatures Protection Class, right? Nightmares are exceptionally intelligent, thus very useful. They’re also exceedingly loyal; once trained, they will never leave their master."
She paused for a moment, then added.
"Moreover, Nightmares have a remarkable sense of direction, as long as you tell them where you want to go, they will take passengers to the destination—compared to elusive omens, wizards are more practical, not all of us are charlatans like Professor Trelawney."
"Indeed," Harry nodded and said, "I heard someone say once that Professor Trelawney never rides Nightmare Carriages when traveling—she fears ominess."
Speaking of "ominous", Harry mimicked Professor Trelawney’s mysterious demeanor, repeating the phrase.
Annie, who had seen Professor Trelawney’s style, burst into laughter, but Cassandra looked rather displeased.
Because she remembered Trelawney’s grandmother, who had harshly rejected her.
"Still holding a grudge?" Vivi asked with amusement, looking at Cassandra.
"Grudge?" Cassandra feigned puzzlement and asked Vivi, "Why hold a grudge? Professor Trelawney never provoked me."
Vivi laughed lightly and said, "Really? But I recall someone once served as an apprentice to the Prophet Cassandra..."
"Shut up!" Cassandra exploded in anger. She straightened up, and said furiously, "I forbid you to mention that person—you!" She turned to Harry, "Did you let this sneaky person see that letter?"
"Uh..." Harry uttered awkwardly.
Yet Vivi shook her head and said: "I saw through Harry’s memory to know this, it’s not Harry’s fault—"
"Huh, you two are in league with each other!" Cassandra sulked and leaned back against the chair, pouting angrily.
She was really upset; it was the most downtrodden time of her life.
When Cassandra Trelawney showed her out, the Prophet even wrote her a letter full of sarcasm, with no regard for her dignity.
And this letter was known by her nemesis.
Even though it wasn’t Harry intentionally showing it to Vivi, she found it hard to accept.
"Sorry, Kathy." Vivi stretched out her hand and grabbed Cassandra’s soft hand, "I didn’t mean to—You know, during that time Harry wanted to practice the advanced Mind Sealing Spell, so I just..."
