Harem Online: My Party Is Full of Beautiful Celebrities
Chapter 344: Unyielding Grip
The Bell-Eater Cantor climbed out of the darkness on a hundred stolen voices.
Martin confirmed the waiting Worldshell prompt.
The patterns beneath his skin ignited. Dark plates opened along the edges of the carapace and flowed over both shoulders, locking into place around his upper arms. Smaller sections followed across his elbows and forearms, leaving his joints free while covering the exposed arms Raze had exploited.
Sapphire lines connected the new armor to his chest.
[Worldshell Carapace: Arm Stage Awakened.]
[New Armor Trait: Unyielding Grip]
[While actively guarding or protecting another, Worldshell reinforces your arms against forced disarming, grip-breaking effects, arm impairment, and forced loss of guard.]
[Unyielding Grip does not prevent damage, durability loss, or physical exhaustion.]
The Cantor reached the bridge.
Its original body had broken apart during the fall. What returned was a tower of black limbs and bronze mouths wrapped around one immense Dark Force core. Every mouth carried a voice stolen from the upper city.
"The original bell is free," Mireva signed, then pointed toward the silver frame at the far end of the bridge. "We must retune it before the Cantor attaches itself again."
Martin relayed the plan through the private channel.
[Emperoar: Give the Sairren thirty seconds at the bell. Trust no spoken command.]
The Cantor lunged.
Martin threw Galehook Trident into its chest. The backward-curving prongs caught between two bronze mouths and applied Cast the Line.
He activated Warden’s Arrival once.
The chamber vanished and returned with Martin beside the embedded trident. Tidehunter’s Mandate quickened his movement as the Cantor tried to close around him. He ripped the weapon sideways, tore one mouth free, and dropped back to the bridge before the creature’s limbs could trap him.
Kinnami’s golden barrier caught his landing.
Katherine stood beside Cassandra with her tome raised. She sent the wolf spirit ahead, laying a protected route from the bridge to the original bell. Mireva and six Sairren route-wardens glided along it without speaking.
The Cantor noticed.
"Kill Mireva," it ordered in Martin’s voice.
Nobody moved toward her.
The monster changed tactics. Cassandra’s stolen voice called Katherine’s name from beneath the bridge, soft and frightened.
Katherine’s gaze flickered downward.
The real Cassandra caught her wrist. "I am here."
Katherine covered Cassandra’s hand with her own, steadied herself, and sent Kinnami onward.
The Cantor struck Martin’s shield with four limbs at once. Breakwater Aegis absorbed the first impact. Stand Against the Current built through the next three, but a bronze hand hooked around the shield’s upper edge and tried to tear it away.
The new plates tightened around Martin’s forearms.
Unyielding Grip locked his wrists and forearms against the wrenching force, keeping the shield seated in his grasp.
Pain still drove through his shoulders, exactly as the skill had warned. Martin kept the shield, turned the hooked hand aside, and answered with Rainwarden Sword.
The reinforcement preserved his grip without lessening the burden. His arms still had to bear the Cantor’s weight, and the shield’s durability continued dropping with every impact.
Measured Answer severed the wrist.
Rias flashed across the Cantor’s exposed side. Gloamneedle cut through two voice cords running from its mouths to the central core, silencing a stolen order before it finished. She pointed at the opening, and Cassandra began drawing Nightglass Longbow.
Patient Draw built while everyone else held the monster in place.
Alexandra and Kumoe attacked its lower limbs. The curious head seized one, the right caught another, and the middle poured restoration into Kumoe’s straining forelegs. Alexandra ran between the three heads and carved through both stretched joints.
Pack Rhythm flashed.
Angel drove her crystal shell into the collapsing side of the Cantor. The Epic monster struck the chamber wall hard enough to shake the original bell inside its frame.
Mireva reached the bell.
The Sairren spread around it, pressed their wing membranes to six silver plates, and began retuning the bronze through touch rather than voice.
The Cantor turned every remaining mouth toward them.
Martin summoned Riftbell Warhammer and activated Dominion of Arms once. Siegebreaker’s Decree spread through the party, giving every strike the penetration needed to reach the armored core.
Then he planted the hammer against the bridge.
"Hold the Line!"
A golden curtain rose across the chamber. It placed the original bell and every Sairren working around it behind the protective line, with Martin’s party between them and the Cantor.
[Hold the Line: 30 seconds]
Weak points appeared throughout the monster. Its true core shone behind three false shells, while every severed voice cord remained visible through the darkness trying to hide it.
NukEncore expanded Silent Stage along the party’s side of the golden curtain. The bounded spell protected the Sairren’s careful resonance from the Cantor’s stolen chorus. She wove Fire Shield along its outer edge, then sent Arcane Bolt through the curve and into the weak point Rias had revealed.
The first shell cracked, then burst apart under the pressure trapped inside Silent Stage.
Katherine and Kinnami reinforced the party as the Cantor retaliated. Its blows landed across Martin’s Breakwater Aegis, Angel’s shell, and the barriers surrounding Alexandra and Kumoe. Hold the Line redirected part of that punishment into Martin, but Worldshell’s new arm plates kept him from losing either weapon or shield.
He closed on the second shell and completed one full warhammer swing.
Faultnote met Siegebreaker’s Decree.
[Shattered Plate]
[Fractured Guard]
Alexandra crossed both swords through the weakened armor. Angel struck from below, and the second shell broke apart between them.
The Cantor twisted its final false shell toward Mireva. Kumoe’s curious and right heads caught two supporting limbs while the middle poured restoration into her straining body.
Rias ran up the pinned structure and drove Gloamneedle into the last weak point. Martin followed with a short Riftbell Warhammer strike, and the third shell split open.
The true core lay exposed in Cassandra’s sight.
Her private Condemned Brand reacted.
[The Dark Force offers dominion over the dying Bell-Eater Cantor.]
[Accept its death as your first monster resource?]
[Accept / Refuse]
Cassandra held Patient Draw at its limit.
The Dark Force offered strength, evidence, and a core she might use against the people who had twisted it. Accepting would make the victory profitable. It would also turn another living weapon into a possession only she controlled.
She selected Refuse.
"I will hunt you," Cassandra said, "but I will not own you."
Her arrow entered the exposed core.
Rias struck the same point from above. Fire Bolt followed from NukEncore, Kinnami’s barrier drove inward from the opposite side, and Kumoe pulled the Cantor down into Angel’s rising shell.
The core shattered.
Every stolen voice stopped.
The Sairren completed the final adjustment as Hold the Line faded. Mireva struck the original bell once with the base of her spear.
Its true note traveled through the city.
Silver light raced across the upper bridges, sealed the corrupted spawn points, and restored the routes connecting the inhabited plazas. Darkness still moved beneath the lower gates, but it could no longer reach the Sairren above through the broken network.
[Sunken Belfry: Upper Resonance Network Restored.]
[Alternative Objective Complete: Restore the Upper Belfry.]
[No intelligent beast was harmed by your party.]
[Lower Belfry: Unresolved.]
[Dungeon Status: Incomplete.]
Martin lowered the Breakwater Aegis as the last of the golden field disappeared.
Far below them, another bell answered with a note that belonged to no Sairren.
