The false order repeated in Martin’s voice until the bellkeeper drove his tuning fork against the workshop wall.

Silver light snapped across the diagrams. Martin’s stolen voice stretched into a metallic groan and stopped.

Mireva sent two wardens to warn the shelters in person. Nobody would trust a spoken evacuation order until the corrupted route-song had been repaired.

"Whatever is below us heard him," she said.

"It heard enough to copy one sentence," Rias replied. "We don’t know whether it understood the words."

Cassandra nodded. "Imitation is not proof of intelligence. We record what happened and nothing more."

They left Angel guarding the broad lower avenue with several Sairren scouts. The western relay’s listening hall was too narrow for her shell, but the route passed above the same street. If monsters broke through the lower doors, Angel would keep them from reaching the shelters.

The remaining party followed Mireva into a bronze corridor lined with hundreds of shallow dishes. Each one caught the smallest vibration and carried it toward the relay chamber ahead.

Martin’s first step returned from every wall.

Elisebeth placed her feet carefully. "This is an unreasonable amount of pressure."

Her whisper spread through the dishes until a hundred quiet Elisebeths complained around them.

Alexandra looked delighted.

"Say it," Elisebeth warned.

"I didn’t say anything."

"Your face is loud."

A scrape answered from the darkness ahead.

Mireva folded her wings close to her body and lowered her spear. "Muteclaws."

Elisebeth raised both hands. Spellweaver threads appeared around her fingers, orange-white against the bronze walls.

"A normal Mana Shield will ring when they strike it," she whispered. "Fire Shield will be worse."

"Can you shape the barrier without letting the vibration escape?" Martin asked.

"I just became a Spellweaver yesterday."

"That wasn’t a no."

Her golden eyes narrowed. "Of course it wasn’t."

Mana Shield formed between her hands. Instead of expanding it into a dome, Elisebeth pressed the barrier into a thin plane across the passage. Arcane Bolt gathered in her other palm.

She did not fire it through the center. She separated the spell into bright threads and stitched them around the barrier’s edge. Each thread tightened the surface and drew its vibration inward.

The dishes along the walls went quiet.

[You have combined Mana Shield and Arcane Bolt.]

[Name your original spell.]

Elisebeth glanced at the silent corridor and smiled.

"Silent Stage."

[Original Combination Spell Created: Silent Stage]

[Silent Stage contains and redirects sound and magical resonance crossing its boundary. Physical protection is reduced compared with Mana Shield.]

Elisebeth rotated one wrist. The barrier tilted with the movement, and the trapped vibration slid toward its upper edge instead of escaping into the dishes. She adjusted two Arcane threads until the pressure drained into an empty bronze basin behind them.

The spell was not simply a quieter Mana Shield. It demanded that she choose where every captured vibration went. A careless angle could send the noise into another corridor and invite monsters from somewhere they could not see.

"Nobody touches the bright edge," she whispered. "I’m still deciding where it leads."

Mireva touched the air beside the barrier and flicked one ear toward the absence of an echo. "Loud Fire has made silence."

Elisebeth’s smile vanished. "Who told you that name?"

Several Sairren clicks passed through the corridor behind them.

"The city," Mireva said.

Alexandra failed to remain silent.

The laugh that escaped her drew three Muteclaw Stalkers from the dark.

The first struck Silent Stage. Its claws crossed the weakened physical barrier, but the impact made no sound beyond its surface. Martin was already waiting behind it.

Breakwater Aegis caught the monster. He turned it aside and drove Rainwarden Sword through the black joint beneath its neck.

Rias and Alexandra intercepted the other two before they reached Elisebeth. Kumoe’s curious head seized one shadowy limb while the right tracked another forming behind Alexandra. The middle washed restoration across the scratch left on Rias’s shoulder.

Katherine opened her tome behind Silent Stage. Kinnami passed through the thin field without disturbing it, then curled around Alexandra’s sword arm. Golden light strengthened the next crossing cut while Katherine placed a barrier over Cassandra, ensuring the underleveled Ranger could keep reading Hungerline without taking a direct Level 60 strike.

Cassandra activated Hungerline.

Silver directions ran from the monsters’ cores toward the far chamber. "They’re being pulled toward the relay. Don’t chase them away from it."

Martin switched to Galehook Trident and threw it through the nearest Muteclaw’s side. Cast the Line marked the hit. When the monster tried to retreat, the pursuit bonus carried Martin through Silent Stage before it could disappear into the dark.

He tore the trident free and drove the creature back toward Alexandra. Her crossed swords opened its core, and Kumoe pulled its false body in the opposite direction until the darkness split apart.

Rias finished the third monster beside the relay doors.

One last claw struck Silent Stage from the far side before its owner dissolved. Elisebeth turned the barrier at the final moment. The captured impact traveled along her Arcane stitching and emptied into the basin she had chosen earlier.

The basin jumped from the floor with a deafening clang.

Every shallow dish in the hall answered.

Elisebeth winced as the corridor rang around them. "I redirected it exactly where I intended."

Rias glanced at the bronze basin wobbling across the floor. "Next time, intend somewhere farther away."

Elisebeth released Silent Stage. Every sound returned at once, including the long breath she had been holding.

The western relay filled the next chamber. Its bell hung above a circular platform crowded with Sairren tuning mechanisms. Black residue covered the floor beneath it, but the bell itself remained whole.

"The relay must remain intact," Mireva warned.

Martin dismissed the half-summoned warhammer before it fully formed. "Then I’ll use something narrower."

Mireva watched the last sparks fade before turning back to the bell.

Cassandra walked around the platform with Hungerline active. The corrupted pull converged beneath one of the relay’s silver brackets.

Rias crouched beside her while Martin guarded them.

Wedged through the bracket was a narrow metal pin with a spiral-cut shaft. Sairren mechanisms used fitted bronze joints and tension wires. This piece had been screwed into place, then hidden beneath black residue.

Rias opened a protected evidence record. "Human manufacture."

"Human shape and tooling," Cassandra corrected. "We don’t know who placed it."

The pin carried the copied route-song into a Dark Force growth beneath the platform. Cassandra held Patient Draw until the line along the Nightglass Longbow reached its limit.

Her arrow severed the black connection without striking the bracket.

Mireva pulled the conductor pin free.

Silver resonance rushed back through the chamber. The bellkeeper’s remote signal entered the relay, corrected its direction, and sent the western route-song flowing away from the shelters once more.

[The Bell That Learned to Lie: Foreign conductor discovered.]

Rias sealed the pin inside an evidence container. "We take it back for inspection. We do not call it Beastslayer work, Just Die work, or anyone else’s work until the material tells us something."

Nobody argued.

As Mireva reopened the return route, Alexandra caught Cassandra by the wrist.

"Before the next bell tries to borrow someone else’s voice, I have a personal question."

Cassandra looked at her hand, then at her face. "Ask it."

Alexandra released her wrist but did not step away.

"Katherine told me she explained the harem conditions." Her eyes stayed on Cassandra’s. "What is your answer?"
