Chapter 261: Revolution
Revolution
25th Floor — Blue Dragon Clan Training Grounds
Five months had passed since Shin entered the lost dimension.
Hiro had finished another day of training after killing ten goblins. He had been continuously growing stronger since entering the tower, and the Blue Dragon Clan, one of the Eight Great Clans, had big hopes for him. He had quickly surpassed all the other newcomers they had recruited, and he was even on the same level as the clan members his age.
Knowing that, his teacher, Lu Bu, stayed particularly close to him, giving him special training and advice.
As usual, the trainer went up to meet Hiro once he had finished his mandatory hunting.
"So, how was the hunt today?" Lu Bu asked with a big smile as he pressed his big hand against Hiro’s shoulder.
"I had no problems. Goblins are quite weak now that I have reached Level 50," Hiro admitted, hoping he would be allowed to experience even harder levels of training.
"I see," Lu Bu commented. "Don’t worry. Soon I will be increasing the difficulty of your training. And hopefully, I will convince the higher-ups to take you to the 30th Floor, so you can train with the inner disciples."
Hiro nodded and didn’t press his trainer any further. He knew that being admitted to training with the inner disciples was difficult.
"But it will still probably take a long time, won’t it?" Hiro commented.
"Well, normally it would take at least a few years, but you may be very lucky," Lu Bu commented, his eyes shining with greed. "You can’t tell anyone that I’m telling you this, but the clan is planning on actually entering a huge war soon."
Hiro didn’t know much about the tower’s internal politics, but considering how serious his trainer was being, he could guess what that was about. The Blue Dragon Clan would attack another of the Eight Great Clans.
Based on what he had learned, Hiro tried to guess.
"Are we going to attack the Shiwha Clan?"
Lu Bu shook his head, his smile faltering and becoming a grimace full of hate. "I would love to kill those bastards, but the higher-ups won’t pick such a big fight. Both clans would be doomed if we actually got into a war this big."
Hiro nodded, not caring much about politics or the old history of hate and destruction between the Blue Dragon and Shiwha Clans.
"Our target will actually be the Ice Wolf Clan," Lu Bu finally said. "Apparently, the Matra Clan is going to attack them, and we will be joining them. But the clan can’t mobilize its main forces, because it would leave us vulnerable to an attack from Shiwha."
Hiro didn’t need to hear any more to understand the situation. Lower-level members and newcomers just like Hiro would be the ones on the front lines. Which meant they would be the ones facing the biggest risks, but also having the biggest opportunities.
The Blue Dragon Clan was known for rewarding its members well once they achieved success. Even someone at the bottom of the hierarchy could have explosive growth if they succeeded in such a war.
"I will do my best to be ready," Hiro said, bowing gently to his master.
Truth be told, he hated the idea of a war against humans or humanoid species, but he knew better than to show his real emotions.
Getting into the tower and undergoing the brutal training from the Blue Dragon Clan had shattered all of his illusions about being a hero. For now, all Hiro wanted was to survive inside this place that was actually a hell.
He was lucky that his talent had been recognized. Thanks to that, he had been given an opportunity to grow, and he needed to do his best to become truly powerful. Because power was the only thing that could really ensure his survival.
After saying goodbye to Lu Bu, Hiro left the training grounds and returned to the inn where he and four other newcomers were staying. The place was modest, but it was far more comfortable than the quarters provided by the clan.
As soon as he entered the common room, he noticed that the other four were gathered around one of their System screens, watching something together.
The technology for cell phones existed inside the tower, but given that each floor was its own dimension, it was not possible to connect multiple floors via the internet. A few floors had more technological integration, but many of the people born inside the tower saw no need for it.
Luckily, the System had some level of communication capabilities. It was possible to send videos and messages through it, but there was no social media. The only functions available were individual chats and groups with up to 50 people.
This meant information traveled much more slowly inside the tower, but sometimes things still went viral.
And Hiro’s roommates seemed to love watching videos they received from who knows where every day after training. Normally, the man wouldn’t care about it, but that day, as soon as he entered, he caught a glimpse of what they were watching.
He wasn’t sure, but the woman in the video looked a lot like Eva.
"Oh! So even you are interested," one of his roommates commented. "We are watching the crazy queen."
"Crazy queen?" Hiro murmured.
"You don’t know her, dude?" another man said. "You need to take a look. She is beautiful... Seriously, how can someone look like that? She probably has the Beauty System or something like that."
"There is no way such a ridiculous System even exists," another newcomer commented with a laugh.
Not paying much attention to their comments, Hiro sat down and watched the video. Just as he expected, she was, indeed, Eva. But she somehow looked even more beautiful than he remembered, not that Hiro cared anymore.
The important thing was what she was saying. Eva was claiming leadership over the epidemic of fake guilds being created, and was also claiming responsibility for all the chaos.
"She’s been doing this for a while, and people are sharing her videos in their inboxes. Something about calling people to riot."
"She’s crazy. There is no way she will survive. All the Great Clans must want her dead."
"By the way, did you guys know that she has taken, like, a huge chunk of the 8th Floor? I heard the Matra Clan is having a big headache because of that," one of the guys said, laughing at the Matra Clan.
"Don’t be like that. The Matra Clan is our ally for now, so we must treat them with respect," Hiro said, but internally, all his attention was on the video.
He wondered what Eva was really doing or planning.
