GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2499: Young Scholar.

They don’t want to reveal information that is too important. Unfortunately, the important information that they knew about this world was very small because even though they had the knowledge of their future selves, most of their future selves didn’t reach the epic rank, so they didn’t have access to much information about the world.

However, they still know a lot of knowledge that should be important to high-level beings, such as the absence of the pathway of creation and the absence of the pathway of destruction, even though the two pathways should exist.

Legion doesn’t know why the two pathways disappeared and when they did, but they know that in the future, a god in control of the authority of the two pathways will appear and will take the title of the publicly acknowledged strongest god.

Legion isn’t strong if this god is truly the strongest one, but they know for sure that this god will make the claim and shout it to the ends of the world.

In the meantime, no one appears to know that the pathway of creation and the pathway of destruction exist. This is because there is no divine flesh for the pathway in all of existence. It was why the angel of knowledge wanted to know more when Legion claimed to have knowledge about the pathway of creation and the pathway of destruction.

When Legion-4 finally met the angel of knowledge, what he saw was a young man wearing a pair of glasses with thick lenses. This appearance didn’t feel strange to Legion at all because they had no expectations about what the angel of knowledge should look like.

The angel of knowledge was also observing them intently. What he saw made him frown.

He said, “Are you an undying?”

Legion sat down and replied with a smile, “If I reply, will that count as the knowledge you wanted to receive in exchange for helping me?”

The angel of knowledge obviously didn’t want to receive such inconsequential knowledge in exchange for his services. He was just curious about why he couldn’t see anything about Legion’s pathway and strength.

So he said, “Forget it. I don’t need to know.”

“Besides, you’re probably an undying godclad anyway. And a powerful one too. Probably an angel of undying.”

As he said so, he looked intently at Legion’s face and body language to see hints that would indicate if his guess was right or wrong. So all he was saying was an attempt to elicit a response from Legion.

He said that Legion should forget about the question he asked, but it is clear that he wasn’t willing to give up on the knowledge just yet. He just changed his tactics and wanted to get the information for free.

Unfortunately, Legion wasn’t so easy to fool. They were still smiling the same way and examining the angel of knowledge.

Legion even wanted to use the Identify Information divine ability of the pathway of seers on the angel of knowledge, but they suspected that he might notice. Since they didn’t want to offend him, they decided to wait until they were done with him before they used the divine ability to pry into his secrets.

The angel of knowledge finally gave up when he realized that he couldn’t trick Legion into giving him free knowledge.

He snorted and said, “So what’s this about a pathway of creation and a pathway of destruction? There is no such thing as a pathway of creation or a pathway of destruction.”

He said seriously, “I warn you now, don’t try to fool me with fake knowledge. I will know, and so will the god of knowledge. If it is discovered that you tried to cheat the god of knowledge, you will have to pay for your crime with more than just knowledge.”

Legion nodded and said, “According to our deal, I will tell you this information, and you will tell me how to find the authority of the pathway of slavery and invoke it to receive divine fragments from it. I hope you will honor this deal.”

The angel of knowledge snorted in disgust after hearing what Legion said. But he didn’t complain.

He simply raised his hand to the sky and said, “I swear in the name of the god of knowledge that I will tell you where to find the authority of the pathway of slavery and how to invoke it to get a divine fragment from it if you tell me what the pathway of creation and the pathway of destruction are.”

As soon as he finished speaking, a golden bolt of lightning fell from the sky and struck the palm of his hand. The bolt left a golden mark on the palm of his hand. This signified that his oath had been recognized.

Throughout the process of speaking, the angel of knowledge looked pissed. He was angry because he couldn’t cheat Legion.

He had been hoping to get the information about the pathway of creation and the pathway of destruction for free. If Legion hadn’t brought up the deal and brought up suspicions that he wouldn’t honor the deal, he wouldn’t have had to swear the oath and would have been able to get the information for free.

So he was angry at Legion for thwarting him at every corner. But no matter how angry he was, he didn’t think about attacking Legion. This was because fighting was forbidden in the tower of knowledge and anyone who tried to break this rule would be punished severely by the god of knowledge.

This rule was one of the reasons why Legion felt comfortable meeting a powerful stranger in their house. The other reason was that Legion was willing to lose Legion-4 and wouldn’t be damaged if he were to die.

These two reasons gave Legion-4 the confidence to remain smiling despite the angel of knowledge glaring at him. But he didn’t keep the man waiting for too long. After all, both of them were in a rush.
