Chapter 2419: Stealing Mind Palace.
Chapter 2419: Stealing Mind Palace.
What the Mindscape can be easily used for is to return to a place where they’ve been before. In this case, what they did was to return to the location where they first entered the Mindscape.
Then they left the Mindscape. This made them appear at the exact location they were in the Hydra Kingdom when they first entered the Mindscape.
They appeared next to the thief as a large black winged bird with arms attached to their chest. Then they controlled their thief slave to come over.
After the thief slave came over to them, they implanted another mark of bondage into him. This mark of bondage was to gain control of his Thieving Hands divine ability.
After they gained the divine ability, they tried to use it on the virtual flesh. They tried and failed to do so because they couldn’t touch the virtual flesh with their hands.
The Thieving Hands divine ability is an ability that thieves possess that they use to steal ownership of any item they can touch.
This stealing is not just physical theft. The Thieving Hands divine ability can also steal conceptual ownership of an item.
For example, if there is an item that belongs to one person and only that person can use it because of certain restrictions on the ownership of that item, thieves will be able to steal this item and use it because they can also steal the ownership of the item.
So if the Thieving Hands’ divine ability could work on the virtual flesh and the Mind Palace, they would gain ownership of the Mind Palace without having to work for it like other telepaths.
Unfortunately, the virtual flesh doesn’t interact with the physical world.
The only things that the virtual flesh interacts with are energy, water, divine flesh, and mental divine abilities like the divine abilities of the pathway of slavery and those of the pathway of the telepaths.
This meant that their plan to steal the Mind Palace wasn’t going to work this way. So they had to switch their tactics.
Legion-3 said, “I guess we will have to become demigod telepaths first and gain the Mind Plague divine ability before we can fight other telepaths for control of the Mind Palace.”
Legion-1 sighed and said with some regret, “Unfortunately, that appears to be the only way.”
He is sighing and feeling regretful, but things aren’t so bad for them, and their chances of success aren’t so low. He is just sighing that they still have to work in order to gain control of the Mind Palace.
Currently, every legendary telepath is using the virtual flesh to either borrow the power of the Mind Palace or kill each other. The best means they use to attack other competitors is the Mind Plague divine ability.
The Mind Plague divine ability is a divine ability that creates a mental plague that can infect people without physical contact. Telepaths use this method because it means they don’t need to go and find every individual telepath to kill them.
Demigod telepaths can borrow the power of the Mind Palace to infect every person whose mind is in contact with the virtual flesh. This is one of the reasons why the virtual flesh must be purged before they can safely connect their minds to it.
Even now that they have gained control of the virtual flesh with their mark of bondage, they still haven’t dared to put their minds into it yet. They are still wiping it because the Mind Palace itself is not their greatest enemy.
This wasn’t a process that they could skip currently. They could only grind the virtual flesh slowly with the Mind Domination divine ability.
The Mind Domination divine ability is the rank 7 divine ability of the pathway of telepaths. It is a divine ability that allows a telepath to influence the second layer of the mind of others.
Sentient beings with minds have three layers of the mind. The first layer is the temporary and gaseous layer. It is the layer where thoughts and short-term memories reside.
The first layer is the part of the mind that the rank 2 Mind Read, the rank 3 Hypnotize, and the rank 5 Sensory Hijack affect.
Whatever influences these divine abilities can have on the mind are mostly temporary. But if their influence persists for a long period of time, they can be transmitted to the second layer of the mind.
The second layer is the semipermanent and liquid layer of the mind. This layer is home to long-term memories.
The second layer can be influenced by changes from the first layer through the process of the conversion of short-term memories into long-term memories.
If this layer is damaged, the target can lose their memories. This layer is also the layer that is harvested as mind fragments when someone dies.
The mind fragments can then be converted into memory fragments after being refined by a legendary telepath with the Mind Domination divine ability.
The Psychic Howl divine ability affects this layer of this mind, but its influence is destructive. What’s more, the Psychic Howl divine ability has to affect the first layer first before it can affect the second layer.
So the first layer forms a layer of protection against mental attacks like Psychic Howl that seek to deal damage to the second layer. This is both a good thing and a bad thing.
It is a bad thing that the Psychic Howl mental attack can’t attack the second layer of the mind directly and shatter it without wasting its power.
But it is also a good thing because by shattering the first layer of the mind first, the target’s thoughts will scatter, and they will be unable to mount meaningful resistance.
Only people with powerful instincts, such as warriors, will still be able to fight after the first layer of their minds has been shattered. Other godclads will just stand in place howling in pain as they are killed.
