GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2374: Gate Blocker.

Chapter 2374: Gate Blocker.

After making the rule banning the operation of gateways around him, he sneered and said, “Not only do you steal our energy spring, but you also kill our people and work together with the angel of killing to kill our demigod.”

“There is no way I’m going to let you go without you paying the price. If I must go down, you will go down with me.”

His current situation is dire, so he didn’t hesitate to liberate his divine form. Then he took off after Legion.

He could sense where Legion was in the city. This feat didn’t require him to make use of the power of his domain. A simple use of the spirit sense technique was enough for him to spot Legion.

In his vision, Legion was glowing brightly in the darkness like a star. So he knew where to go to find the evil, undying godclad who ruined this city.

Because of his divine form, he had an advantage in flying. He also used his domain divine ability to enhance his flying speed, so he was quickly gaining on Legion.

Legion couldn’t use the second gateway after the ban. This made them curse in frustration.

They didn’t know for sure why something that was working a few seconds ago stopped working when they were about to use it. But they had an inclining about the cause of this malfunction when they sensed the legendary noble quickly approaching them.

They also sensed danger coming from the legendary noble. So if the posture and the speed at which the noble was approaching weren’t enough to tip them off to his motives, they were now sure that he was out to get them.

Instead of becoming afraid that the legendary noble was chasing them, Legion became angry.

Legion-9 said with anger, “You must think I am afraid of you. Bring it on.”

They didn’t stop to fight, though. They took the gateway and flew towards the outskirts of the city.

They let their slaves scatter in various directions to escape. As for them, they flew in a straight line towards safety.

However, no matter how fast they flew, the legend was still quickly catching up to them. He had set a rule that enhanced his speed, while Legion didn’t have any divine ability in their divine form to enhance their speed.

The rule he set was, “I am two times faster than the closest legendary undying godclad to me.”

This rule took effect immediately and granted him a tremendous speed boost at the cost of spiritual energy. What’s more, he can sacrifice more spiritual energy to gain more speed by increasing the speed boost to three times or even four times.

He also set another rule to ensure that Legion can’t escape, “Every gateway that I have my eyes on can’t work.”

This gave the legendary noble confidence. He sneered at Legion and said, “Just give up and give me the gateway. You will never be able to use it as long as I wish. You will only be able to use it if I give you the permission to.”

His domain divine ability means that he could have the advantage of Land Sovereign wherever he is, which he can use to reduce the energy cost of the absurd rules that he set.

The unfair rules that he can set with domain divine ability also help him gain an advantage in speed and strength through his rules. So he was confident in catching up to Legion and defeating them.

Unfortunately, his current goal is not to fight Legion. His current goal is to escape.

He wants to escape as soon as possible because the demigod appears to be losing the fight. This means that the fight is about to end and the winner is about to be decided.

He doesn’t want to be around after the fight is concluded. So his priority has to be about escaping, not fighting. This is why, even though he had every advantage, he still offered a compromise to Legion.

He said, “If you give me the gateway, I won’t attack you. I can even let you escape with me too. But you must swear to serve me until you have created a large city like Reinfield for me.”

He didn’t want to fight and lose out on the gateway. Even if he could defeat Legion, Legion could still destroy the gateway and doom them. So he offered a compromise.

He thought that he was being reasonable in light of everything that Legion had done. But Legion refused to back down.

They called out to him, “If you want the gateway, then you will have to come and take it.”

This statement obviously angered the legendary noble. Even though he didn’t want it to happen, the anger began to slowly cloud his mind.

He realized the danger, so he sought to end the fight as soon as possible. So he set another rule: “The closest legendary undying godclad to me will be unable to move.”

His domain clamped down on Legion immediately and sought to immobilize them. But their Aegis Shield divine ability took effect immediately.

Their Aegis Shield blocked the effect of the domain on them at the cost of spiritual energy. It only cost them 45% of the spiritual energy used to fuel that attack because their mastery of the Aegis Shield divine ability was at 55%.

So they were spending less energy to resist a greater attack. Not only that. Since the power of the domain wasn’t too powerful for their Aegis Shield to block, their other divine abilities were able to take effect too.

Their Reflector divine ability was able to take effect. Because their mastery of the Reflector divine ability was at 51%, this divine ability caused 51% of the power of the attack to rebound onto the legendary noble.

Then their rank 4 Absorption Body divine ability took effect. Since they had mastered the Absorption Body divine ability to 50%, half of the power of that attack was converted to life energy.
