GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2289: Complicated Advancement Requirement.

Chapter 2289: Complicated Advancement Requirement.

So in summary, in order to fight and kill psychic shriekers, they will have to find a way to enter the spiritual dimension, search for the psychic shriekers in the spiritual dimension, survive in the spiritual dimension long enough to find them, and finally somehow separate a psychic shrieker from the herd to fight and kill it or take on the whole group of psychic shriekers at once.

Of course, one will have to do all of these and be able to return safely to the physical dimension, or everything they accomplished in the spiritual dimension wouldn’t count. If they are not careful, they might just die in the spiritual dimension.

There are clearly a lot of problems with meeting this advancement requirement, most of which come from the environment. The danger of the spiritual dimension accounts for at least 50% of the difficulty of the advancement requirement.

If the dangerous things in the spiritual dimension don’t kill them, they still have to worry about the herd of psychic shriekers. No matter how they look at it, it will be very difficult to take on a hundred or several hundreds of psychic shriekers at once.

They read a lot of books about how to solve this problem. This helped them discover a lot of solutions, but it also made them understand that the spiritual dimension is not a place suitable for anyone that isn’t a legend.

They truly learned a lot about the problem from reading books. One particular matter that didn’t seem difficult to deal with at first glance was the fact that psychic shriekers can fly. This makes it easy for them to escape and could render all of the hard work of finding and fighting a lone psychic shrieker useless.

They might not have considered this problem when they were planning to enter the spiritual dimension. Many people certainly didn’t.

Even if they had considered the problem, it is unlikely that they would be able to find a viable solution because psychic shriekers are slippery and difficult to catch. So they decided to read a lot more about the problem in order to prepare themselves.

After doing a lot of reading, they decided that the greatest problem to solving this advancement requirement is that they needed to find the psychic shriekers and fight them directly. They can’t use a proxy like a slave to help them defeat the shriekers, and they can’t have helpers in the fight, or the defeat won’t count.

At most, they can have someone help them capture the shriekers and bring the beasts to them to fight. But the fight must be fair and aboveboard. This made them consider paying someone to capture psychic shriekers for them.

It would have been great if they had powerful slaves that they could send to capture psychic shriekers for them. But they don’t have that option because their slaves are weak, so they have to use money to solve their problems.

Unfortunately, this expensive option was also met with its own difficulties in that legends are the best hunters to hire to help them retrieve psychic shriekers from the dimension.

Not only is this expensive, it is also dangerous because they will have to make physical contact with a legend in order to acquire the psychic shriekers.

Psychic shriekers can’t be traded with the Mindscape because they are living things. This leaves them with only a trade in the physical world, which can be as dangerous as the spiritual dimension.

All of these problems made Legion grumble as a whole and say, “I would rather just eat someone or something to advance to rank 6. Eating a telepath is preferable to all of this nonsense.”

The advancement requirement to rank 6 is collectively known as the feasting stage. This is because most of the pathways require their godclads to eat something or someone in order to advance.

This is evident in their situation. They have four pathways, and every single pathway needs them to eat other epic beings in one or another in order to advance to rank 6.

Even the pathway of the telepath requires them to eat something. But what they are eating isn’t flesh and blood; it is the mind of a fellow telepathic creature.

There is a need to show their divine flesh that they can defeat a psychic shrieker on their own, which is why they have to fight the psychic shrieker without help. But another reason why they have to be the only one to contribute to the death of the psychic shrieker is that it is the requirement for them to be the sole beneficiary of the death of the psychic shrieker.

When the psychic shrieker dies, it will produce a last-ditch attack. This attack is a suicidal attack that aims to bring down its killer or killers. But this suicidal attack, which is formed from the mind of the psychic shrieker, is beneficial to telepaths.

If there is more than one person responsible for the death of the psychic shrieker or if the psychic shrieker considers more than one person as targets for its suicidal attack, then the telepath will only get a little benefit.

It is even likely that the telepath will get no benefits at all because the suicidal attack became too weak to withstand their mind and was scattered easily, leaving nothing behind for the telepath to eat.

This reason is perhaps the most important reason why the telepath has to fight and defeat a psychic shrieker on their own. It is all rooted in being able to eat what’s left of the mind of the psychic shrieker without interference.

However, Legion thinks the feasting requirements for the pathway of the telepath are too complicated for them. They would prefer to eat the minds of other telepaths and be done with it.

Unfortunately, no matter how they complain, there is nothing they can do to change what they have to do in order to advance. This is because, no one has been able to successfully change their advancement requirements.
