Chapter 2165 - 2165: Making Promises.
Being split into two might not lead to Silver Mirror’s death, but it would surely turn Silver Mirrior into a cripple and would make living painful for him.
Silver Mirror might even die if he is split into more than two or if his head is severed from his body. These thoughts went through both Silver Mirror and Clark’s mind.
Silver Mirror was afraid of dying while Clark was regretful because he was done. He was too weak to take any more initiative in this fight. He couldn’t anything more to bring Silver Mirror close to death. The best he could do was hold on tightly to Silver Mirror.
Clark died like this. He died holding onto Silver Mirror, hoping to give the two lamp bearers who followed him a chance to survive.
Unfortunately, the two lamp bearers didn’t manage to escape. They too were currently in the process of being killed.
Silver Mirror fell to the ground with two blades stuck within him. He was mostly fine. The reason he fell down was that he was tired and Clark’s body was heavy.
He fell to the ground in order to recover his strength. When he is strong enough, he will remove the blades from his torso and use them to cut off Clark’s arms. Then he will be free to stand up and leave.
Unfortunately, there was a slight hiccup in plans. Something invisible struck Silver Mirror.
He didn’t sense anything before the invisible attack struck him. But once the attack struck him, he only felt boundless pain.
The pain was so great that he roared. His roar caused dust and sand to scatter away from him.
He grabbed his head and screamed inwardly, “What’s going on with me?”
He didn’t know what was attacking him. But he was resisting it with all of his might. His eyes were bloodshot as he resisted.
Legion, who was looking at this from a distance of 40 meters away, said in admiration, “What a stubborn mind.”
They were full of admiration, but that didn’t stop them from adding more and more marks of bondage to Silver Mirror’s mind. In fact, it was because they admired him that they took him seriously and used all the marks of bondage they had left on him.
They have 9 marks of bondage in total. 2 are being used to restrain Black Knife the assassin, 1 for Mirlo the merchant, 1 for Amelia the seer, 1 for the rank 2 traveler, and now 4 for Silver Mirror the rank 4 walker.
But even with 4 marks of bondage binding his mind, Silver Moon didn’t give up resistance. Actually, it seemed that he would break free. It was because his mind was too strong.
Legion have a spiritual power of 40. That’s the highest they can have as rank 2 beings. A rank 4 being has a minimum spiritual power of 80 units and a maximum of 160.
Silver Mirror has the maximum amount of spiritual power at 160. 160 units of spiritual power is four times more than their flimsy 40 units of spiritual power. So he can break free even if they use 4 marks of bondage on him.
If Silver Mirror had any divine ability for protecting his mind, they would have failed right from the start. Their mark of Bondage would have collapsed as soon as it touched his mind, just like physical attacks can’t harm his body due to the Phase Shift divine ability.
So it was unfortunate for him that his mind was what was attacked, not his body. He could only forcefully resist and break the binds by force.
Legion activated Life Siphon from him. This caused the marks of bondage in the form of black snakes to bite his mind and drain his spirit.
His resistance fell through a few seconds after. He couldn’t resist when he didn’t have the energy to do so. He also didn’t want to resist anymore in order to end the pain.
So he screamed, “Please, stop this. I’ll give you whatever you want.”
But secretly he was thinking to himself, “Just let me recover. I will make you rue the day you decide to mess with me.”
Legion didn’t expose his thoughts. Instead, they said to him, “Promise us that you will do everything we want you to do in the future if we remove this pain.”
He said with the least amount of sincerity ever, “I promise it. I swear it on my life that I will do whatever you want in the future. Just end this.”
They said, “Good.”
Then they deactivated the marks on f bondage and stopped torturing him.
Next, they said to him, “I hope you remember the pain you just experienced. You have promised me, so you will experience this pain whenever I ask you for a favor and you refuse to help me with it.”
“Until that time when I need you, keep yourself safe and don’t try to break your oath. Goodbye.”
Legion truly left him there. They didn’t reveal exactly what they did to him and what his current situation as a slave is so that he won’t find the right way to break free.
Instead, they misled him by making the pain a temporary effect of a divine ability. They also made it seem that the promise he made was important and could be used to blackmail him to do their bidding in the future.
From what Silver Mirror was thinking, he believed the first option. He believed that a divine ability was used to compel him to feel pain and be willing to do anything to relieve the pain.
As for his promise to do everything asked of him in the future, he didn’t take it to heart. Even if his promise meant something, he was going to find a way to break its hold on himself.
He thought about that as he said to them, “I’ll surely do what I promised you. I am a man of honor and I never go back on my word.”
