Chapter 478: Chapter 336: Fierce Battle, Counter-kill

But the cold, sinister energy didn’t dissipate. Instead, it clung to him like a persistent rot, trying to burrow into his body.

At the same time, Wu Liangchen felt as if countless vengeful souls were roaring and screaming in his ears, assaulting his spirit.

At the same time, a cold, mocking voice echoed from a distance as its owner closed in at an incredible speed.

"A quick reaction, I’ll give you that. But what good will it do you?"

As he spoke, Yin Jiu’s figure appeared in the corridor.

He hovered in mid-air, his black robe billowing. A black mist, visible to the naked eye, swirled around him, creating a terrifying sight.

Yin Jiu looked down on Wu Liangchen, his gaze like that of a butcher inspecting a slab of pork on a cutting board.

"Tsk, tsk. Such a fine specimen. It’d be a shame to just stuff and mount you. Perhaps I’ll refine you into a puppet instead!" ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

With that, he paid Wu Liangchen no mind and simply pointed a finger.

In an instant, Wu Liangchen felt the air around him thicken. The ground felt like a swamp, trapping his feet. Even his muscle reflexes grew sluggish.

’So this is the power of a Level 5 Magic practitioner? Impressive!’

These weren’t direct physical attacks, but assaults on the spiritual plane; an ordinary Martial Artist would be completely unable to resist.

Wu Liangchen silently mulled this over.

Yin Jiu, however, was starting to look bored. "And here I thought you’d be a challenge. Turns out you’re just a Level 4 Magic practitioner with a bit of martial arts training! All that fuss, and I caught you in a couple of moves? It’s lonely at the top."

Yin Jiu’s words were filled with the desolate air of one who stands peerless at the summit.

Seeing this, the urge Wu Liangchen had just suppressed resurfaced, even stronger than before.

However, Wu Liangchen forced himself to endure it, not making a sound.

At that moment, a tractor-like force lifted Wu Liangchen into the air, and he began to float slowly toward Yin Jiu.

Yin Jiu yawned, then activated his communicator and shouted into it, "Old Qin, tell Patriarch Sun I’ve got him. I’m heading back now."

Although he did his best to appear nonchalant, it wasn’t hard to see that he was in an excellent mood.

After all, a full fifty million in resources was on the line.

At his age, Yin Jiu no longer expected to advance further on the path of Magic, but more resources could still enhance his power.

Especially now that the one who had always held him down was gone, wouldn’t all of Qing Province become his personal playground?

Because of all this, Yin Jiu was in a fantastic mood. He was even being more courteous to Qin Zhen, upgrading his address from "that Qin fellow" to "Old Qin."

On the other end of the communicator, Qin Zhen was somewhat surprised to hear Yin Jiu’s words.

’He caught him that quickly? Was I just overthinking things before?’

Sun Fusheng, who also heard the exchange, grew very excited. Forgetting his noble bearing as a Patriarch, he couldn’t help but interject.

"Mr. Yin, this man is extremely cunning! Don’t be fooled by appearances. You must make sure he is completely subdued and unable to resist before you bring him here!"

Yin Jiu was dismissive of Sun Fusheng’s words, but a job was a job. For the sake of fifty million, he let out a sinister cackle.

"Relax, Patriarch Sun. I guarantee he won’t even be able to lift a..."

Before he could finish, a loud BANG echoed through the communicator, followed by dead silence.

"What’s going on?" Sun Fusheng asked, his face a mask of shock.

Qin Zhen shook his head, his expression grim. "Yin Jiu must have gotten careless. It sounds like Wu Liangchen ambushed him."

It had to be said that Qin Zhen lived up to his reputation as a top-tier expert of many years; his assessment of the battle was spot-on.

Back in the corridor, Yin Jiu was slammed into the wall with enough force to send countless cracks spiderwebbing through the thick concrete.

His already pale face was now even whiter, and a trickle of fresh blood flowed from the corner of his mouth.

This filled his eyes with venom. He stared daggers at the man in the distance, who was now glowing with a faint golden light, grinding his teeth with a grating sound.

"Despicable!"

"No wonder Sun Fusheng kept losing to you. You really are cunning!"

In response, Wu Liangchen simply smiled calmly. His vigorous Qi and Blood formed a protective shield around him, melting away all the sinister energy that tried to coil around and enter his body.

This sight made Yin Jiu’s eyelids twitch.

’Such powerful Qi and Blood.’

’Weren’t they saying this kid was just a Vein Opening Realm Martial Artist?’

’But based on the strength of his Qi and Blood, he’s even stronger than some Divine Sight Realm Martial Artists.’

Unlike the shocked and suspicious Yin Jiu, Wu Liangchen was feeling slightly regretful.

’I had planned on waiting until I was closer to Yin Jiu before making my move. I was fifty percent certain I could have severely injured, or even killed him.’

’Unfortunately, Sun Fusheng’s warning made Yin Jiu decide to neutralize my ability to resist. Left with no choice, I had to act early. The result was that he only suffered minor injuries.’

Just then, the black energy around Yin Jiu flared. He floated into the air once more, a cold look on his face.

"I admit, I misjudged you. You do have some skill, but..."

Before he could finish, the black energy around him suddenly condensed, forming a ferocious, nine-headed black serpent that lunged toward Wu Liangchen at incredible speed.

Although the black serpent wasn’t a physical entity, it moved with a palpable killing intent and was accompanied by a putrid stench.
