Chapter 1644: Golden Shield
Chapter 1644: Golden Shield
City Auction House
My gaze fell on the status panel. After realizing that I was so close to reaching the limit, I closed the status panel. My heart wanted to use the special relic right away.
But I controlled my desire. Who knows? Lord Erwin could ask for me back at any time. So, I decided not to use the special relic right now.
Outside
“What’s going on?”
“Someone trapped us here to kill us.”
“Who is doing this?”
The wizards started shouting out loud. There were others who were coughing up blood and falling to the ground.
The red mist had filled the entire room.
At that time, the Magic Lords were slamming the barrier, but they failed to break it.
“No, it won’t break. We have to use the magic spell,” Rowan shouted.
He was terrified in his heart. He didn’t expect someone would dare to plot against the Mage Union’s people.
The guests from the 1st room and 4th room were outside. The middle-aged man and woman were scared as well.
They had been watching for some time, but the red mist had killed most of the wizards, including Level-8 and Level-9 Wizards.
The Supreme Wizards and the Magic Lords were trying to withstand the power of the red mist.
Meanwhile, Erwin came downstairs. He noticed that people were trying to break the barrier, but there was no result.
“Don’t use the magic spell. I’ll destroy the Artifact. The barrier will disappear on its own,” Erwin said to them before walking towards the middle.
He came to the center. The wizards who were dead lay on the ground; the red mist had killed them instantly.
Erwin stood in front of the center of the room.
On the other hand, Rowan and the Magic Lords saw Erwin. They noticed he was the one who had gotten the outer space item.
The middle aged man from the 1st room didn’t know the identity of the person.
So he asked, “Can we trust him?”
“He got the outer space item. Maybe he is the one doing this to kill us,” he added.
The wizards around him exclaimed because it sounded reasonable. The Magic Lords hesitated; they thought it could be true.
But the strength of the person was greater than theirs because they couldn’t see through him.
“This person is powerful. I can’t see through him,” the female wizard from the 4th room said.
Hearing that, the others reacted. A look of understanding dawned on them.
“Let’s wait and watch!” someone from the crowd said.
They were not as weak as the others. Only a few of them were Level-9 Wizards; the rest were Supreme Wizards and Magic Lords.
Office Room
A few minutes ago,
Young Master Hale, City Guardian Marvin, and City Lord Dorian were watching the scenes happening outside.
They had thought the red mist would kill everyone. But the Level-9 Wizards, Supreme Wizards, and Magic Lords were trying to withstand it.
Then they saw someone from the second floor coming down. When this person appeared, the face of Guardian Marvin changed.
He found the person familiar, but he couldn’t recall who it was. Guardian Marvin turned towards Young Master Hale.
He said, “Young Master, do you find that person familiar?”
“He was the one who stole the outer space item,” he added.
Hearing that, Hale’s eyes narrowed. He had thought the same earlier.
“Yes, I too found him familiar, but it’s hard to recall. Go and get the special relic from him,” Hale said all of a sudden.
Marvin was stunned. His eyes flashed with hesitation because he found no other Supreme Wizards were blocking the person.
Even the Magic Lords were staying behind. City Lord Dorian broke into a cold sweat. He was having the same thought running through his mind.
The guests from the second floor all had powerful backgrounds, yet they were not moving an inch forward.
“What are you doing?”
“If you don’t get back the item, I’ll call Elder Abel,” Hale said in a threatening tone.
It was not like Hale was stupid. He, too, realized something was wrong with the person, but he wanted to confirm it before calling Elder Abel.
Guardian Marvin was scared. He was afraid of being thrown away as a pawn. His gaze then fell on City Lord Dorian.
City Lord Dorian was trembling in fear. He was afraid of being dragged into this mess.
“Master, it would be best for the City Lord to question him,” Guardian Marvin said.
“Okay, Dorian, you are the City Lord. But someone dared to steal the auction item. Find out his identity first,” Hale said to him.
Dorian felt like a thunderclap had struck his head. He was scared inside, but he didn’t expect the worst outcome to occur.
He wanted to deny it, but when he saw Young Master Hale’s eyes, he stopped. He then slowly walked up to Guardian Marvin.
Guardian Marvin was sighing inside. It couldn’t be helped; he didn’t want to go out alone. Both of them left the room.
Hale immediately called Elder Abel, but he found out that he couldn’t connect the call. Then his gaze fell on the barrier.
A realization occurred to him.
“Sh!t,” he uttered.
He didn’t expect this variable to occur now. It was supposed to be a smooth plan, but this person spoiled everything.
Outside
Lord Erwin located the place. The Artifact was buried quite deep. He gathered mana and stomped on the ground.
Boom!
The floor cracked. The crack spread wide before revealing a deep pit. In that pit, a golden shield was shining brightly.
From the heart of the golden shield, the source of the barrier was emitting. Lord Erwin felt an enormous amount of mana stored inside the shield.
That was how the barrier was working without any input. As long as the supply remained, it would power the barrier.
Erwin immediately thought of Vincent Carey. He thought this was an excellent defensive Artifact for Vincent Carey, who needed protection.
Just as he was observing the deep pit, the others saw something glowing inside. But they had no courage to come forward.
