The Junior Who Refused to Be Provoked

A young man was entering his strongest domain whenever he pleased.

Leaving whenever he pleased.

And worst of all, Gareth couldn’t do a thing about it.

"Damn it!"

The words escaped between clenched teeth.

His expression twisted with anger.

He had never suffered such humiliation in his entire life of cultivation.

Never.

And the person humiliating him wasn’t even an equal.

It was a junior.

A young cultivator who had appeared before him with that infuriatingly calm expression.

But that wasn’t even the part Gareth found hardest to accept.

The young man before him was the student of his sworn enemy.

That realization burned hotter than the lightning surrounding him.

Zeon.

That old bastard.

Even after his death, he had still left behind someone capable of suppressing him.

Gareth’s chest rose and fell heavily.

His mind raced.

How could he restrain Leon?

How could he force him to stay?

How could he turn this battle back in his favor?

He couldn’t figure it out.

No matter how carefully he calculated, every path seemed to end the same way.

Leon would enter.

Leon would leave.

And Gareth could only watch.

After pondering for a moment, Gareth suddenly laughed loudly.

"Haha... Ridiculous, ridiculous."

His laughter echoed through the lightning.

But there was something unnatural about it.

It sounded like a man trying to hide his frustration behind laughter.

Leon raised an eyebrow.

"What are you laughing at?"

He frowned slightly.

Did this old man go crazy from being provoked?

Why did he suddenly laugh?

Gareth’s eyes narrowed.

He had thought of another way.

If he couldn’t catch Leon through speed, then he would force Leon to fight.

He only needed to provoke him.

The young man was still a junior, after all.

Surely there was pride in his heart.

Surely he wouldn’t tolerate being insulted.

Gareth’s lips curled into a cold smile.

"I’m laughing at the people of Amethyst Summit Division."

His voice carried clearly through the battlefield.

"You’re as timid as a mouse. You only know how to cover your head and scurry away like a rat. You run whenever you meet an enemy. Your teacher was like this back then, and you are still like this now..."

His words were deliberately sharp.

Every sentence was meant to stab at Leon’s pride.

Gareth wanted him angry.

He wanted Leon to stop running.

He wanted him to enter the lightning domain and fight him head-on.

Then...

He would make this arrogant junior understand the difference between them.

However, Gareth soon discovered something extremely irritating.

Leon didn’t react.

Not even slightly.

There was no anger.

No killing intent.

No change in expression.

Instead, Leon actually lowered his head and thought about Gareth’s words seriously.

His purple eyes shifted slightly.

Then he looked up.

"What did you say?"

Leon tilted his head.

"Weren’t you slapped to the ground by my teacher back then?"

His expression became strangely thoughtful.

"When did you beat him away?"

Silence.

The entire battlefield suddenly became quiet.

Even the roaring lightning seemed less noticeable for a moment.

Gareth’s face froze.

His expression slowly turned ugly.

That wasn’t how this was supposed to go.

He had deliberately fabricated that story to provoke Leon.

He had expected the young man to become furious.

Instead...

Leon had remembered the actual result.

And he had exposed Gareth’s embarrassing history with a single sentence.

"You..."

Gareth’s face reddened.

His chest tightened.

For a moment, he looked as if he wanted to vomit blood.

Which idiot had spread this damn rumor?

No.

He knew exactly where the rumor came from.

Himself.

He had deliberately exaggerated what happened back then.

He had claimed that Zeon had been driven away.

He had used that lie to preserve his reputation.

But now, in front of everyone, Leon had casually torn it apart.

The surrounding cultivators exchanged awkward glances.

Nobody dared to laugh.

Not because it wasn’t funny.

But because Gareth’s current expression was terrifying.

His jaw clenched.

His eyes burned.

His breathing became rough.

"Damn it."

The curse came from between his teeth.

Gareth finally stopped trying to provoke Leon with words.

If words didn’t work...

Then he would use force.

He stretched out his right hand.

Mana surged violently around his palm.

A spirit sword materialized in his grasp.

The moment the sword appeared, the atmosphere changed.

The lightning above suddenly became even more violent.

Crack!

A bolt of divine lightning tore through the dark clouds.

It descended from the heavens with terrifying speed.

"Quick, dodge!"

Below, everyone’s expressions changed.

They immediately recognized the terrifying power contained within that strike.

This was the attack of a cultivator standing at the pinnacle of the Martial realm.

A single mistake would mean death.

The surrounding cultivators hurriedly retreated.

Some even summoned defensive treasures.

The sky seemed to split apart.

The divine lightning descended straight toward Leon.

Yet Leon remained completely calm. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

His midnight robes whipped violently around him.

His black hair danced behind his shoulders.

His purple eyes remained steady.

At the critical moment, Leon finally moved.

He slowly raised one hand.

There was no frantic movement.

No explosive burst of Mana.

Just a simple push of his palm.

The moment his palm moved forward, a mysterious Taiji Painting appeared before him.

Black and white forces intertwined.

Opposite energies revolved around one another.

The two forces seemed completely different.

Yet somehow, they existed in perfect balance.

Boom!

The divine lightning collided with the Taiji Painting.

A tremendous explosion shook the entire Heavenly Abyss.

The ground trembled.

Dust surged upward.

The surrounding air distorted violently.

For several breaths, nobody could see what had happened.

Then the dust slowly settled.

Leon stood unharmed.

The divine lightning had vanished.

The Taiji Painting slowly faded away.

The surrounding cultivators stared at him in disbelief.

He had blocked it.

A strike from Gareth.

A strike that could kill an ordinary cultivator instantly.

Leon had resolved it with one palm.

But what happened next was even more shocking.

Leon stepped forward.

This time, he entered Gareth’s lightning domain again.

The countless bolts of lightning immediately descended around him.
