Chapter 459: The Sword That Silenced the Battlefield [Part 2]
The Sword That Silenced the Battlefield [Part 2]
As the Supreme Demon Sword circled in the sky, everyone’s breathing tightened.
It was terrifyingly quiet.
The battlefield, which had been filled with explosions only moments ago, suddenly seemed to lose all sound.
No one dared to move.
No one dared to speak too loudly.
Above them, the ancient sword slowly rotated in the crimson-stained sky. Its blade was broken and covered in traces of rust, yet the killing intent pouring from it was so overwhelming that even the strongest cultivators present felt their scalps go numb.
The wind had stopped.
The clouds seemed to freeze.
Even the dust floating through the battlefield hung unnaturally in the air.
"Whose sword is this?"
A trembling voice finally broke the silence.
No one answered.
Another elder stared at the ancient weapon with disbelief written across his face.
"What shocking killing intent. I didn’t expect such an ancient weapon to appear again today."
His voice was low.
There was awe in it.
But there was also fear.
Everyone was curious and kept searching the sky, wanting to find the owner of the sword.
Their gazes swept across the surrounding mountains, the dark clouds, and the distant horizon.
Nothing.
There was no figure.
No aura.
No trace of Mana fluctuations belonging to its master.
Only the sword remained.
Alone.
Suspended above the battlefield like a silent executioner.
Some people swallowed nervously.
Others instinctively tightened their weapons.
Nobody understood how an ancient sword could appear without warning and unleash such terrifying killing intent.
Then their gazes slowly shifted downward.
Looking at the Gluttony wolf that had already been killed under his feet, Gareth felt a wave of fear rise from the deepest part of his heart.
His pupils trembled.
His soul seemed to be shaking.
The enormous corpse of the Gluttony wolf lay beneath him.
The Guardian Beast that had accompanied the Sky Breaker Academy for countless years had been reduced to a lifeless body.
Its once-fierce eyes were already empty.
The wound left by the sword was clean.
Too clean.
There had been no prolonged battle.
No struggle.
One sword.
That was all.
Gareth’s fingers slowly curled into fists.
His breathing became heavier.
"No... Is my Sky Breaker Academy, which has been passed down for several eras, really going to be destroyed today?"
He kept asking himself the same question.
His heart was filled with unwillingness.
He had cultivated for countless years.
He had watched generations rise and fall.
He had believed that the foundation of the Sky Breaker Academy was strong enough to withstand almost any disaster.
Yet today, everything he relied upon had been shattered in an instant.
He looked up at the sword.
His throat felt dry.
He wanted to fight.
He wanted to resist.
But his body refused to obey the command of his heart.
In the face of that sword, the courage he had gathered throughout his life seemed to disappear without a trace.
It was terrifying.
Gareth had not even seen the person who wielded it.
He had only seen the sword.
And yet, from hundreds of kilometers away, that single sword force had killed the Guardian Beast of the Sky Breaker Academy.
What kind of existence could command such power?
Gareth’s jaw tightened.
He hated this feeling.
The feeling of being powerless.
The feeling of knowing that his opponent had not even appeared, yet he had already lost the right to fight.
For the first time in many years, Gareth understood what true despair felt like.
He slowly lowered his gaze toward the corpse beneath his feet.
The Gluttony wolf had been his greatest support.
Now it was dead.
And the person responsible had not even shown himself.
At this moment, even Mike and the others were shocked.
Mike’s grey hair fluttered in the cold wind.
His black eyes remained fixed on the ancient sword.
He had fought Gareth for so long that he knew exactly how powerful the Guardian Beast had been.
Yet that terrifying creature had been killed in an instant.
Mike’s expression became solemn.
He really did not understand where this sword had come from.
More importantly, he did not understand why it was helping them.
"Could it be..."
One of the elders beside him hesitated.
"Could this sword belong to an elder of the Celestis Academy?"
Mike’s brows tightened.
That possibility flashed through his mind.
But he immediately rejected it.
That was impossible.
The Celestis Academy did not possess another weapon of this level.
At least, not one that they knew about.
The only person within the Celestis Academy who had once possessed an immortal sword was Leon.
But even that fact made the situation more confusing.
An immortal sword was already terrifying enough.
Nobody believed that this second ancient sword could also belong to Leon.
Mike looked toward the sky again.
His expression became increasingly complicated.
"Could Leon really have another sword?"
He muttered the question under his breath.
The elder beside him shook his head.
"That would be absurd."
Mike did not answer.
Because deep inside, he had already begun to realize something.
With Leon, absurdity had never been a sufficient reason to dismiss a possibility.
Just as everyone was feeling puzzled, the atmosphere suddenly changed.
A faint ripple appeared above the Heavenly Abyss.
It was so subtle that most people did not notice it at first.
Then—
Whoosh!
A handsome figure suddenly flashed past the Heavenly Abyss.
His movement was too fast.
Even the strongest cultivators only caught a vague shadow.
The next instant, the dark clouds above the battlefield parted.
A figure leaped from within them.
He moved lightly.
Almost casually.
His long, shoulder-length black hair streamed behind him, dancing in the wind.
His purple eyes were calm.
His midnight robes fluttered around his body, thin amethyst embroidery shining faintly beneath the cold light of the sky.
He did not appear to be rushing.
He did not appear to be fighting.
Yet his arrival alone caused the entire battlefield to fall into an even deeper silence.
Leon descended.
