Chapter 566
Young Master Noel’s expression changed drastically, he hadn’t expected Adam to possess such a bizarre ability, but he quickly calmed down, a ruthless glint flashing through his eyes.
"Hmph, a mere trick, yet you dare show off in front of me," he prepared to step forward and subdue Adam himself.
However, a crisp voice suddenly rang out.
"Stop," everyone looked toward the source, Morwen had appeared at the doorway at some unknown point, her eyes flickering with a firm light as she stared straight at Noel.
"Young Master Noel, my family has never owed you any money, if you really want to settle scores, you should go find the people who actually owe you money," although her voice wasn’t loud, it was brimming with power, moving everyone present.
Noel was stunned, he hadn’t expected Morwen to step forward at this moment, but quickly, he resumed his cold sneer, "And what the hell are you? You’re too naive, do you think you can save them like this? Let me tell you, today, no one is leaving here!"
Morwen did not back down, she took a few steps forward and blocked the path in front of Adam, "Young Master Noel, I know your power and influence are monstrous, but I also believe that justice always exists in this world, if you insist on harming innocent people, I believe one day you will receive the punishment you deserve."
Looking at Morwen’s back, a warm current welled up in Adam’s heart, he had never thought this seemingly delicate little girl would possess such firm conviction and courage.
He sighed softly, "Morwen, step aside, this is a matter between him and me, it has nothing to do with you."
Morwen looked back at Adam, a trace of complex emotion flashing in her eyes, but she shook her head, "No, Big Brother, this matter started because of me, I cannot let you bear it alone."
Adam’s eyes narrowed slightly, unexpectedly carrying a bit of gentleness, "Morwen, you’re wrong, this matter never started because of you, it was I who chose to stand here and face all of this."
He turned back around, facing Noel and those immobilized guards, his gaze became exceptionally firm, as if he had made some decision in this moment.
"If you take one more step forward, I don’t mind making all of you lie here."
As the words fell, the air seemed to freeze, even the wind stopped breathing, though his words were light, they were like a massive boulder thrown into a calm lake, stirring ripples that shocked everyone’s soul.
Noel’s face turned livid, he had never expected that this youth, whom he had once viewed as a mere ant, would display such powerful aura and resolve, he clenched his fists, knuckles turning white, clearly trying his utmost to restrain the fury in his heart.
"You... you dare threaten me?" Noel’s voice was low, carrying a threat that could not be underestimated.
He looked around, although those guards immobilized by Adam’s power couldn’t move, unyielding light still flickered in their eyes, as if silently protesting Noel’s tyranny.
Adam did not respond, he merely raised his chin slightly, his gaze like a torch, as if capable of seeing through all hypocrisy and ugliness in the world.
He slowly raised his right hand and gently rotated his palm, a warm, gentle power surged from his body, instantly enveloping the immobilized guards.
"Release," Adam shouted lightly, the restraints seemed to be undone by an invisible hand, the guards successively regained mobility, but their eyes now held an added layer of awe and gratitude, they knew Adam had used his power to spare them from an unprovoked disaster.
The villagers let out gasps of amazement, they had never seen such a miraculous scene, much less imagined that a seemingly ordinary youth could possess such strength.
Morwen stood beside Adam, eyes slightly red, but a proud smile hung on her lips, she knew, and she was grateful for her own past kindness, which had earned her Adam’s help now.
Noel’s expression fluctuated, he realized the situation had exceeded his control, he looked at the surrounding guards, then at Adam’s imperious expression, and ultimately could only sigh.
"Fine, I, Noel, will remember what happened today, but mark my words, this world ultimately respects strength, if you have the guts, the days ahead are long, we will compete again," after saying this, he glared fiercely at Adam, then left the village with his tail between his legs, leading his guards.
Adam glanced at their retreating backs, then at Morwen, and with an indifferent gaze slowly walked away.
Morwen wanted to ask him to stay, but Adam had no intention of stopping, the villagers also made way, the way they looked at Adam had changed.
After leaving the village, Noel was burning with rage, he hurried back to his family’s mansion, as soon as he stepped into the main hall, he headed straight for the family’s secret chamber, where ancestral tablets of past generations were enshrined and major family decisions were made.
Noel took a deep breath, adjusted his emotions, and knelt before the portrait of the Patriarch, reporting in a deep voice.
"Patriarch, your grandson was humiliated outside today, I have come to seek an audience, hoping you will uphold justice for me," his voice carried indignation and resentment.
In front of the portrait, a wisp of light smoke slowly rose and transformed into a white-haired elder, it was the soul phantom of the Gavel family’s Patriarch, his gaze was like a torch, scrutinizing Noel, "What matter has caused you to lose your composure like this?"
Noel recounted his encounter in the village in full detail, emphasizing Adam’s unbelievable power and the humiliation he had suffered, finally, he added, "Patriarch, that Zeon is absolutely no ordinary person, I suspect he possesses unorthodox techniques, and might even be..."
He deliberately paused, a trace of craftiness flashing through his eyes.
"Continue," the Patriarch’s voice was soft, yet it carried unquestionable majesty.
"He might even be a demon race remnant," Noel finally voiced the conjecture in his heart, he knew this charge was enough to shake the entire cultivation world, and it would provide a reasonable explanation for his defeat today.
The Patriarch’s brows furrowed tightly, to the cultivation world, the demon race was a taboo existence, once confirmed, it would inevitably cause a massive uproar, he closed his eyes in deep thought for a moment, then opened them, a flash of absolute resolve in his gaze.
