He abruptly opened his eyes, two sharp beams of light shooting out as though they could pierce through all illusions.

Following the eruption of his aura, the surrounding clouds of spiritual energy seemed to heed a call, surging frantically into his body.

The golden light on Silvan’s skin grew increasingly dazzling, as if he were draped in a layer of golden armor.

He had broken through, he had stepped into the Grandmaster Realm.

Feeling the massive power within his body, Silvan’s heart filled with confidence, he mobilized all his spiritual energy and launched another assault on the formation.

But right at that moment, a gloomy, sinister figure appeared in the room.

It was an old man with the bearing of a transcendent immortal, yet his face was incredibly hideous, and a bizarre light shone in his eyes.

"You truly did not disappoint me, Silvan," the man’s voice was icy and eerie.

"You successfully advanced to the Grandmaster Realm, now your body will belong to me."

Silvan’s eyes went wide, staring at the old man, shock and fury flooded his heart.

"How could it be you? How could you still be alive?" Silvan squeezed those last three words out through gritted teeth:

"Edmund."

"I am your master, show me a little respect," Edmund’s mouth curled into a mocking sneer.

"Why can’t I be alive? Furthermore, what makes you so sure that I really died?"

"And even if I did die, how are you certain that the me who died was the real me?"

Edmund’s voice carried contempt and disdain, the look he gave Silvan was like looking at an ant.

"What do you mean?"

Silvan’s pupils trembled, he couldn’t quite understand Edmund’s words.

"It’s very simple, there are countless versions of me in this world, I have possessed not just one person, not just two, but ten, twenty, a multitude."

"The one you killed that day was merely one of my many selves."

"This is me, Edmund, immortal, imperishable, enduring alongside the world itself."

"Hahahahaha."

Edmund burst into wild laughter, exceedingly smug.

Silvan was stunned, he never imagined such a cultivation method could exist.

"Why did you choose me?"

Silvan roared angrily, he didn’t understand, his family was just an ordinary farming family.

"For power, of course," the man sneered coldly.

"You have extraordinary talent, as long as I possess your body, I can obtain all your power and talent, and have a chance to break through into that supreme realm."

"Rest in peace, your family will soon be coming to accompany you."

The moment he finished speaking, his aura erupted, the terrifying presence of a Great Grandmaster swept through the entire space.

Silvan’s body was crushed against the floor in an instant, he couldn’t even move, a gap of an entire major realm stood between them.

Anger and despair surged through his heart, he couldn’t imagine his family suffering such a fate because of him.

"No, I won’t let you succeed!" Silvan roared, his body’s strength erupted at once, violently breaking free from Edmund’s suppression.

He charged at the man, a cyan light blazing in his hands.

"Verdant Clarity Technique!"

But Edmund merely smiled coldly, with a gentle wave of his hand, he dissolved the attack into nothingness, that formidable strength filled Silvan with utter despair.

"Did you think advancing to the Grandmaster Realm would let you contend with me? Silvan, you’re too naive," the man mocked.

"Don’t forget I taught you all your techniques, how could you possibly defeat me?"

"Planting that formation in your sister’s body was to force you to cultivate diligently, while leaving a seed in your body for my possession."

"Everything about you was orchestrated by me, including the first possession attempt, did you really think you devoured my soul because you unlocked your potential?"

"That was me giving you power from behind the scenes."

Silvan lay stomped beneath Edmund’s foot, unable to utter a word, his heart was filled with despair, he never expected that everything had been arranged so clearly and thoroughly.

"You... you can possess me, but please, let my family go."

Silvan’s voice was squeezed through gritted teeth, his eyes full of pleading, facing Edmund, once his master and now his worst nightmare, he felt unprecedented helplessness.

Edmund looked down coldly, a cruel smile at the corners of his mouth, "Let your family go? Do you think I would leave such a hidden danger? If I let them go and they seek revenge, what then?"

Silvan’s heart sank to the absolute bottom, he knew Edmund spoke the truth, he could not win even a sliver of a chance for his family.

But he refused to yield, he struggled to raise his head and roared, "Then let me fight you! Even if my body dies and my Dao vanishes, I will not let you have your way easily!"

Edmund seemed amused, he sneered, pressed harder, and ground Silvan deeper into the floor, "You think you have the qualifications to fight me? Too naive, however, I won’t kill you, I still have use for your body."

"Just watch as I kill your family first."

Edmund slowly raised his hand, gathering terrifying energy in his palm.

"At the same time, let me show you what the true Verdant Clarity Technique looks like."

...

Boom!

The wall of the inner room was blasted to pieces.

Silvan’s heart felt as if it had been ripped apart, he watched helplessly as the figures of his parents and sister swayed unsteadily amidst the smoke and dust.

Their faces were filled with terror and despair, their gazes brimming with helplessness and reluctance to part.

"No!!!!"

Silvan let out a heart-wrenching roar, his eyes turned completely red, suffused with blood.

In that moment, all reason and restraint collapsed, he only wanted to trade his life for the safety of his family.

But Edmund merely looked down at him coldly, a mocking smile at the corner of his mouth, as if admiring Silvan’s despair and relishing the thrill of controlling another’s fate.

"Silvan, look, this is your family, they suffer because of you, and yet what can you do for them?" Edmund’s voice was like an icy knife, slicing into Silvan’s heart cut by cut.

He wanted to shatter Silvan’s psychological defenses completely, that would make the possession even easier.

"I... I will kill you!" Silvan’s voice trembled but held firm, he struggled to his feet, and a dazzling, brilliant golden light erupted from his body.

Edmund was slightly taken aback, clearly not expecting Silvan to be capable of unleashing such power in desperate straits.
