Global Survival: I Have Endless Skeletons
Chapter 608: Elara Mischievousness
Returning home, Thoren spent the next few hours with his family.
After everything that had happened since he returned to Suncrest City, the peaceful atmosphere inside the Starfall residence felt almost unreal.
For the first time since returning to the surface, Thoren was able to sit down and simply spend time with the people he loved the most.
Unfortunately, Elara had no intention of allowing him to enjoy the peace quietly. The moment she realized that Thoren was finally free, she began pestering him with questions.
"Brother, what did the second floor look like?"
"How many beasts did you fight?"
"Did you really fight those terrifying Scorpion Men?"
Thoren barely had enough time to answer one question before another followed.
At first, he tried to answer patiently, but after several minutes, he realized that Elara had no intention of stopping anytime soon.
She followed him around the mansion like a small shadow, her eyes shining with curiosity as she continued asking about everything he had encountered during his time in the Abyss.
Whenever Thoren tried to change the subject, she immediately dragged him back to the second floor.
Eventually, she even forced him to summon several of his undead inside the mansion. The sight immediately attracted the attention of the family guards.
One moment, the living room had been peaceful. The next moment, several enormous undead were standing inside the Starfall estate.
The undead remained completely motionless, their bodies covered in the aura of death as they stood beside Thoren without making a single unnecessary movement.
Seeing this, Elara however, was fascinated. Her breath quickened as she walked around them. She touched their armor and examined their weapons.
She even circled around one of the undead several times while looking at it from different angles.
"Do they really listen to everything you say?"
Thoren nodded. "Yes."
"Even if you tell them to stand there for an entire day?"
"Yes."
"What if you tell them to dance?"
Thoren looked at her and she immediately grinned.
"Can they?"
Thoren sighed as he already knew where this was going. Still, he gave the command and one of the undead awkwardly moved its enormous body.
Seeing this, Elara burst into laughter. Their parents stood nearby and watched everything with bright smiles on their faces.
Serene occasionally shook her head when Elara became too troublesome, while Ardyn simply watched his children with a relaxed expression.
It had been a long time since the family had enjoyed such a peaceful moment together. For Serene and Ardyn, seeing Thoren alive and standing before them was already enough.
They knew that their son had experienced things they could not even imagine during his time in the Abyss.
Although Thoren did not tell them every terrifying detail, they could tell from the changes in his eyes and demeanor that his journey had not been easy.
Fortunately for them, he made it back alive and that was what mattered. Elara, however, was still not satisfied.
After playing with the undead for some time, she suddenly came up with another idea and her eyes began to shine mischievously.
"Brother."
Thoren immediately became suspicious."What?"
"Can I borrow two of them?"
"No."
Elara’s smile disappeared.
"Why?"
"Because I know you."
She pouted.
"I just want to take them outside for a little spin"
"No."
Unwilling to give up she stared at him and Thoren stared back. The staring contest lasted for several second before Elara turned around with a defeated expression.
At least, that was what everyone thought. A few minutes later, two undead quietly followed Elara outside the mansion.
The family guards standing near the entrance were completely unprepared for what happened next.
The moment they saw two terrifying undead approaching behind Elara, their bodies immediately became tense.
One guard instinctively reached for his weapon and another stepped backward.
"Young Miss!"
Elara turned around with an innocent expression.
"What?"
"What are those?"
"My friends."
The guard’s face became pale.
"Friends?"
Elara nodded seriously. "They belong to my brother."
The two undead stood behind her without moving.
Their hollow sockets burnign with the eerily soul fire and the powerful aura were more than enough to frighten the guards.
"Young Miss, please take them back inside."
Elara giggled. "They won’t hurt you."
The guards looked at each other as they clearly did not believe her. Elara continued walking for another few steps before one of the guards hastily called for Serene.
When Serene saw her daughter walking around with two undead behind her, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
"Elara."
Elara halted in her tracks and the bright mischievous glint vanished from her eyes as she slowly turned around.
"Yes, Mother?"
"Come back inside."
Elara lowered her head. "But..."
"Inside." Her tone left no room for argument.
Reluctantly she returned to the mansion, but even as she walked inside, her eyes were still burning with mischievousness.
Serene waited until the undead returned inside before looking toward Thoren.
"Thoren, you shouldn’t have allowed her to take those things outside." Her voice was exasperated as she shook her head before sitting beside her husband.
"You know how she is."
Thoren remained calm.
"Mother, you have nothing to worry about. The undead wouldn’t do anything without my command."
"That’s right," Ardyn added quickly, trying to reassure his wife. "Without Thoren’s command, they are nothing but lifeless corpses."
Serene looked at both of them as she clearly wanted to argue. But after thinking about it, she realized they were technically correct.
The undead would not attack anyone without Thoren’s command. That did not mean she wanted Elara using them to frighten the guards again.
Before she could say anything else, footsteps came from the hallway as Elara entered the living room with a pouted expression.
She clearly had not been pleased with being dragged back inside. "Hmph! When I awaken my profession, no one will be able to tell me what to do then."
She sat on the couch without bothering to look at her parents.
Ardyn opened his mouth.
"Elara..."
But before he could continue, Thoren suddenly rose from his seat and a bright smile appeared on his face.
Instantly everyone inside the living room immediately looked toward him. Even Elara stopped pouting and turned toward her brother.
"What?"
Thoren glanced toward the entrance and. "Excuse me, I have a visitor."
With that, Thoren left the room, leaving his parents and sister completely dumfounded.
