Chapter 884: Portal
- Portal
"How many Starfish Ornaments do you still have? I'll take them all."
Behind Boss Jin stood two bodyguards and a three-meter-tall Fleshy Starfish.
"I can make ten Starfish Ornaments in a minute. How many Crystals do you have?"
Lin Ye didn't mind selling all the Starfish Ornaments to Boss Jin, he was just worried the other party wouldn't have enough Crystals.
"...I'll take all the Starfish Ornaments in there."
Boss Jin had rushed over to buy Starfish Ornaments as soon as he received the news, he had thought they were a limited-edition product.
"One Crystal counts as 50 Trade points, there are price tags on the shelf."
Lin Ye decided to produce a few more batches of Starfish Ornaments.
Unfortunately, these things couldn't be mass-produced, each piece had to be handcrafted one by one. If he could spread his Parasitism Network here, he might have been able to figure something out, but without spiritual energy, things were admittedly troublesome.
"Can I customize a specific type of Starfish Ornament?"Boss Jin had the two bodyguards go inside to collect the goods.
"In principle, I don't sell Starfish Ornaments with identical functions, but if you're willing to pay ten times the price, it's not out of the question."
Lin Ye could naturally produce identical Starfish Ornaments, it's just that doing so would affect his efficiency in making different kinds.
"Alright, if there's a need, I'll come find you."
Boss Jin was very satisfied. If someone else obtained an especially useful Starfish Ornament, he could come over and get an identical one made. Ten times the price wasn't too much either.
"Old Jin, something this good, and you tried to keep it from us?"
Several city folk in formal attire walked over from a distance. They had rushed over the moment they received word.
"What can I do? I'm a merchant, how could I possibly miss an opportunity like this?"
Boss Jin said with a smile.
"So this is what came out of those special items?"
A young man stepped forward and curiously touched the Fleshy Starfish.
"Yeah, there are many different kinds of ornaments in there, this is just one of them."
Boss Jin really liked the Fleshy Starfish that could follow behind him, it made him look quite impressive.
"Then I have to go take a look inside."
Those city folk all walked into the general store.
The two bodyguards happened to walk out carrying Starfish Ornaments, and Boss Jin promptly paid the corresponding price in Crystals.
Lin Ye handed the next batch of Starfish Ornaments to Lola and the Fleshy Monsters, they were responsible for putting the goods on the shelves.
After that, city folk kept coming in and out of the general store. Lin Ye kept making Starfish Ornaments nonstop to keep the shop running.
The slums had become much livelier, occasionally large Fleshy Starfish could be seen passing by nearby.
Lin Ye collected a large number of turbid Crystals. As the number of customers using Starfish Ornaments increased, he also made certain progress in his research on them.
"Boss, I heard you can customize Starfish Ornaments here?"
A massive Fleshy Starfish stopped in front of Lin Ye. A crack split open on the starfish's surface, revealing the Fat Man's head.
"Custom orders require paying ten times the price. Which one do you want?"
Starfish Ornaments took shape in Lin Ye's hands one after another. He could now produce one in a single second.
"I want that Starfish Ornament that can perform spatial teleportation."
That was an ornament previously used by a slum dweller, and the Fat Man was extremely covetous of it.
"That one performs non-directional spatial teleportation. It could send you anywhere, you might even end up teleported underground. Are you sure you want that one?"
Lin Ye didn't know much about spatial teleportation, he could only build simple portals. That Starfish Ornament had been made using the materials and techniques for constructing simple portals.
"Can't control it? Then forget it, underground is too dangerous."
This Plane had many ruins buried beneath the earth, and the Fat Man had no desire to get near places like that.
"You actually dare to come back to the slums?"
The Red Mask walked out from the alley, behind him followed a small starfish about the size of a little dog.
A group of Black Masks and a few White Masks appeared near the general store, each of them carrying at least one Starfish Ornament.
"Ha, Fat Master goes wherever he wants. I don't feel like fighting here. If you've got the guts, come outside the city with me, and I'll wipe you all out by myself."
The Fat Man replied with extreme arrogance.
"Well then, you're dead. They've got several Starfish Ornaments that can one-shot you. I didn't even think I could make something like this."
Lin Ye reached out and touched the tip of the small Starfish Ornament. This was one of his masterpieces.
High-tier Flesh materials, Alienation knowledge, plus Red Flash techniques. This thing could consume flesh and launch its body out like a bullet. Ordinary people simply couldn't block it.
"Ah? That strong? Aren't you bosses worried you'll kill them off yourselves?"
The Fat Man jumped out of the Fleshy Starfish and hid behind the rocking chair.
"...Is it really that strong?"
The Red Mask had tested all the Starfish Ornaments, the ones distributed to his subordinates were all the relatively controllable type.
"Of course. This is something I made. Even the basic models have their unique merits. Your methods of using them are far too crude."
Lin Ye fed a ham sausage to the small starfish.
"Don't push me! I have a Starfish Ornament I can use to take us all down together!"
The Fat Man pulled out that black Starfish Ornament. At its center, there was a deep, dark vortex.
The Red Mask thought for a moment, then turned and led his subordinates away from the general store. He needed to study the functions of those ornaments further.
The Fat Man hastily scrambled back inside the Fleshy Starfish and left the slums at top speed.
Lin Ye didn't pay much attention to these customers. He continued making Starfish Ornaments. In a few more hours, he would leave this Plane. Before leaving, he needed to collect enough Crystals.
"Boss, a portal has appeared in the store!"
Lola ran out excitedly. She had been sent to this Plane by accident, and in this past year, she had been constantly searching for a way to leave.
"A portal? It wouldn't happen to be the general store owner coming back, would it?"
Lin Ye stood up and walked into the general store. If it was the store owner, he could just find another place to keep selling Starfish Ornaments.
A portal radiating intense spatial fluctuations appeared in the center of the general store. The portal was highly unstable, seeming like it could vanish at any moment.
"This crappy place... still... stable..."
Lin Ye heard a somewhat familiar voice. A lady dressed in a black evening gown stepped out from within.
"You came here looking for me?"
Lin Ye looked at Scarlatti walking out of the portal and asked.
"No, I had no idea you were in a place like this. The system does sell information about you, but the price is too high. Only those idiots in the cult would buy it."
Scarlatti casually closed the portal behind her.
"Ah..."
Lola really wanted to borrow that portal.
"What are you doing here? Collecting those turbid Rule Crystals?"
Lin Ye didn't think there was anything else valuable in this place.
