  1. Horror Movie

If one looked closely, they would notice that the surface of the Cube had extremely complex structures, and those structures were not fixed.

This was Lin Ye's meticulous creation, designed to imprison a deity, yet it had encountered a fool who only knew how to use brute force.

'What a pity.'

Lin Ye put away the Cube, he hadn't yet figured out how to use this item.

Next were four white cards.

[Space Excision]

[Use this card to temporarily excise a section of space. The size and quality of the excised space will determine how long it takes for that space to return]

[Note: Please do not excise living beings, as living creatures cannot be restored the way space can]

"Not bad, I can use this to attack too."

Lin Ye put away the cards, planning to find a troublesome enemy later to test the card's power.

Finally, there were three palm-sized figurines.

[Split Entity]

[This is a split entity that can share your senses. Perhaps you can use it to scout ahead]

[Note: Please activate the split entity with mental energy before use]

The split entity bore the likeness of that D-Class personnel, rendered in a realistic style, looking quite fierce.

'...This thing doesn't seem very useful.'

Lin Ye had the Parasitism Network, so he had no need for a split entity to scout paths, and simulation missions couldn't carry items anyway.

Considering it could be used to research the Split Ability, Lin Ye stored the split entities away.

He hadn't encountered anything that needed to be put in the basement this time, which Lin Ye felt was pretty good.

After dealing with the loot, Lin Ye opened the system interface to check his newly acquired title.

[Cage That Imprisons a Deity]

[You used your own body to forge a cage capable of imprisoning a deity]

[Note: This is a maze constructed from knowledge, yet the opponent tried to break through it with brute force]

Closing the system interface, Lin Ye gathered the animals in the Shelter and prepared to head to the Rest Area for something to eat.

......................................................

Lin Ye sat up from the soft bed in his pajamas, pets pressed against him, with Little Black occupying half the bed.

"You're awake. Would you like to go eat first?"

Xiao Bai stood by the bed looking at Lin Ye, as if she had been standing there on standby the whole time.

"Yeah, I want to watch an interesting horror movie today. Can you recommend some for me?"

Lin Ye handed the Scapegoat to Xiao Bai and pushed the pets off him.

"Of course. However, there aren't many movies that can actually scare you."

Xiao Bai stroked the Scapegoat's head.

"There are movies that can scare me?"

Lin Ye just wanted to find an interesting horror movie; it had been a long time since any movie had managed to exceed his expectations.

"Of course there are. But if you'd like to relax instead, I can recommend some entertaining horror movies."

The light ring in Xiao Bai's eyes rotated.

He wasn't actually that keen on watching horror movies.

"Everything is ready."

Xiao Bai was always efficient.

Lin Ye placed the starfish on the little dog's head, then went to the bathroom to take a shower and changed into fresh shorts and a tank top.

Xiao Bai drove them to a commercial center, which had many shops selling all kinds of goods, perfect for a stroll after a meal.

The cinema was on the top floor of the commercial center, so they could head over anytime after eating.

Xiao Bai brought them to the underground food court of the commercial center. There were snacks from countless different Planes here, and the vast majority of them were things Lin Ye had never seen before.

The pets each dashed toward the stalls that caught their interest, while Lin Ye walked over to a hot pot skewer stall. The stall had all kinds of dishes Lin Ye had never seen, and the condiment section was much the same.

The Scapegoat followed along too. At some point, a starfish had also appeared on its head.

Lin Ye turned to look, discovering that every single pet had a starfish on its head. Even those bionic staff members were wearing starfish on theirs.

Just like wearing a hat.

Lin Ye felt the top of his head and touched something shaped like a starfish as well.

"Alright."

Lin Ye continued picking out his dishes, not bothering to take the starfish off.

It took an hour for Lin Ye to sample every snack that caught his interest. The ones that didn't suit his taste were all stuffed into Little Black's mouth.

"Meow meow meow meow..."

Little Black was protesting to Lin Ye; it didn't eat just anything either.

"Don't be a picky eater."

Lin Ye patted Little Black on the head.

Afterwards, they browsed through the shops in the commercial center for a while before taking the elevator to the top floor.

There wasn't a single person in the cinema. Lin Ye chose a seat near the center.

Xiao Bai sat beside him, and the Scapegoat sat on his other side.

Little Black lay sprawled across a seat in the first row, while the other pets gathered near Lin Ye.

The armrests of the seats had many buttons. Pressing them allowed you to select the viewing mode, and also order drinks and snacks.

You could even choose the temperature of your drink and the massage mode for the seat.

The lights dimmed, and Lin Ye leaned back in his seat, watching the screen.

A somewhat familiar scene appeared on the screen. It was the exact food court where they had just eaten lunch.

Except the actors weren't them, but a group of young people who were planning to watch a movie after their meal.

These young people had no idea that an alien monster disguised as a human had already infiltrated the commercial center, and that the alien monster was also there to have lunch.

The movie was a full two hours long, yet there wasn't a single dull moment. It stayed consistently brilliant, mixing a lot of comedic elements into the horror. It had been a long time since Lin Ye had seen such a qualified horror movie.

The Scapegoat sitting beside him kept covering its eyes with its hooves. It was both curious about what would happen next and terrified of seeing the scary scenes.

After the movie, Lin Ye and his pets wandered around for a bit longer before returning to the hotel room and heading back to the Shelter.

The Rest Area was very comfortable, and he really wanted to stay there forever, but the Shelter was the only truly safe place.

......................................................

Lin Ye hadn't figured out what to do in the afternoon. He had just advanced, so he'd need at least a few days to recuperate before advancing again.

"Meow meow."

Little Black sidled over, using its tail to poke at the Scapegoat that had been clinging to Lin Ye.

"Baa baa~"

Ever since watching the horror movie, the Scapegoat had been sticking close to Lin Ye.

"No can do. I'm heading to the library to read in a bit, and after that I still have to complete an Exploration Mission."

Lin Ye stroked the Scapegoat's warm belly.

The Scapegoat shrank its body into the blanket, peeking out toward the sliding door that led to the basement. It usually stayed in the bedroom, not daring to go near the basement. There were a lot of terrifying things down there.

"It's fine, nothing in there will come out... probably won't... Do the collectibles in there move around when I'm not here?"

Lin Ye turned to look at Little Black. Little Black spent most of its time in the basement.

"Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow."

Little Black let out somewhat urgent meows.

"They only move around in the collectibles area? Then there's no problem."

Lin Ye got dressed, ignored the Scapegoat reaching a hoof out toward him, and left the Shelter.
