  1. Flesh and Blood Ruins

"Even if you let me go, it doesn't matter. This isn't that simple of a problem anymore."

The man leaned back in his seat, his tone surprisingly calm.

Lin Ye didn't reply, just stared out the window while sipping his cheap coffee.

The burly leader stared at the man, as if trying to figure out what to do next.

"Can't you even use such a basic mental technique? Is that Abyssal Eye of yours fake?"

The man pulled out a steaming cup of coffee too, a rich aroma filling the vehicle.

"I've only been a spiritual energy user for two months. What about you?"

Lin Ye rarely unsealed the Abyssal Eye. That eyeball carried enormous risk. Sooner or later, he'd need to settle things with the Abyss once and for all.

The other party's suggestion was dripping with obvious malice.

"I've already forgotten... Many people think the Red Sea is the pinnacle of flesh and blood Alienation, that Red Sea creatures aren't good at handling mental issues. But that's actually a misconception. Only by possessing sufficiently abnormal mental energy can you control the most abnormal body. You've still got a long way to go."

The man continuously formed different items with his free-floating mental energy.

"...You're not someone disguised, are you?"

Unlike "strong" people like Mia who couldn't even use runes, this man could create mental constructs of varying levels. Lin Ye could sense the differences between those items, giving him a deeper understanding of mental energy.

The other party seemed to be teaching him techniques in this area, but the man couldn't be that kind-hearted. There had to be some problem here.

"You don't have to look at me like that. This is just a little goodwill on my part."

The man probably didn't even believe his own words.

"Heh, then give me a few more Rule Fragments."

Lin Ye didn't buy the man's explanation at all.

"That's not impossible. I'm just afraid you wouldn't dare take them."

The man replied calmly.

The van left the city district and, not long after, stopped beside the highway's rest area.

The rest area was gone. A writhing vortex of flesh and blood covered the entire space.

The vortex spun very slowly. This was the entrance to the mental secret realm.

"All of you, get out of the car! I'm going into the secret realm to get the mental core. You go ahead and scout!"

The burly leader didn't want to give up just like that. Compared to opening a mental fitness gym, he'd rather seize the chance and take a gamble.

This might be the only opportunity he'd ever get in his life.

"Why are you so polite to these people today? You're not usually this easygoing."

Seeing Lin Ye obediently get out of the van, the man showed a surprised expression.

"I don't feel like fighting today. Otherwise, I'd have killed you already."

Lin Ye walked toward the vortex of flesh and blood, still holding a cup of steaming coffee.

Some silhouettes watched them from a distance, as if waiting for them to enter the vortex.

"Killing me is meaningless anyway. This is just a blood clone. There are no Rule Fragments inside."

The man followed behind Lin Ye toward the vortex, seemingly unconcerned about entering it.

Lin Ye was the first to step into the flesh and blood vortex. After about a dozen seconds of spinning, he stood inside a building constructed entirely of flesh and blood.

"You just walked right in? I thought you'd notice what's going on here."

The man and those burly men appeared behind Lin Ye. The burly men had clearly never entered a mental secret realm before; they looked somewhat flustered.

"I knew this was a trap. But what does that have to do with me?"

Lin Ye took a sip of coffee and strolled deeper into the secret realm.

"It's not entirely a trap either. Those people treat it as a trap because their cognitive level is limited."

The man admired the fleshy structures inside the building. Being here was more comfortable for it than staying outside.

"So what is this place? Inside some giant flesh-and-blood creature's corpse?"

Lin Ye couldn't quite make sense of these fleshy structures made of mental energy.

"This isn't a corpse at all. It's some kind of mental ruins built by a Red Sea creature... Something like that."

The man wasn't certain either.

"Why does your Red Sea always produce such troublesome things?"

To maintain his relaxed state, Lin Ye couldn't think seriously right now, which prevented him from understanding the situation here in depth.

"The Red Sea is already considered a relatively calm plane. Most creatures can only see what's happening above the surface."

Whenever the man thought about Lin Ye's situation, his scalp would tingle.

"Stop your nonsense! Hurry up and take me to find the mental core!"

The burly leader punched a hole straight through the man's chest.

"Fine, since you're so eager... Why doesn't he hit you?"

The man couldn't understand the thoughts of these low-level creatures.

"Naturally, because I look more dangerous. This is the mental world. As long as I don't hide my thoughts, they'll realize the consequences of attacking me."

Lin Ye walked along the fleshy corridor toward the depths of the ruins. He didn't really care about the situation here. After all, he had his Special Ability.

"Need me to lead the way? Even though this is my first time here, as a Red Sea creature, I can probably guess which direction to go."

The man just asked casually. It didn't actually care about the thoughts of these low-level creatures.

After all, these low-level creatures would all die inside the ruins anyway.

"How about we split up? If you can find the core location of the ruins before me, I'll agree to one favor for you."

Lin Ye said very casually.

"Sounds tempting, but I'll pass."

The man knew very well what kind of person Lin Ye was. Unlike others, Lin Ye wouldn't bluff.

"Worthless."

Lin Ye led the way while observing the surrounding fleshy structures. When he encountered a fork, he barely paused, as if this wasn't his first time here.

Half an hour later, they arrived at the core area of the ruins. It was a courtyard overgrown with Flowers of Flesh and Blood. At the center of the courtyard lay a bone-white coffin.

"You! Go open that coffin!"

The burly leader shouted excitedly.

Lin Ye walked through the sea of flesh and blood flowers and stopped beside the coffin.

"Hey, this thing feels a bit off. Are you sure you want to open it?"

The man didn't understand why Lin Ye would do something so dangerous.

"What does that have to do with me?"

Lin Ye casually flipped open the coffin lid. Inside lay a bloody corpse.

The blood-corpse sat up from the coffin. It first glanced at Lin Ye, then reached out and touched his arm before shifting its target and lunging at the man standing behind Lin Ye.

The man didn't resist. The blood-corpse bit off his head.

After devouring the man in a few bites, the blood-corpse charged at the burly men.

The burly leader turned and ran. The entire ruins trembled. The sea of flesh and blood flowers began growing rapidly, soon covering the entire courtyard.

"May the deities bless you all... I won't be blessing you, though."

Lin Ye finished the coffee in his hand, lay down inside the coffin, and closed the lid.
