Chapter 429: Chapter 27: World Tree Seedling (Part 2)

After creating the seedling, the World Tree clearly wilted. The luster of the entire tree dimmed considerably, and many of its outermost leaves and branches drooped.

Even the incubation time for the Elf Fruits hanging on the World Tree had been extended by a significant amount.

It seemed that creating this seedling had taken a great toll on the World Tree.

Lin Yu shifted his consciousness to his clone and could clearly feel the World Tree had grown weaker. Its various abilities had been diminished to different degrees.

Judging from the feelings coming from the World Tree, it was very excited about creating the seedling.

To create the World Tree Seedling, the World Tree had used up a good deal of its core essence.

This core essence was not the Spiritual Energy that permeated the territory, nor was it the World Tree Essence within the Water of Life that refilled automatically each day.

It was difficult to replenish, a kind of "source" that the World Tree could only recover slowly on its own.

The clone, which was constantly fused with the World Tree, felt the same way—utterly drained, as if after a wild night. Its body was sore and weak, its legs felt like cotton, and its mind was in a daze.

However, this also allowed Lin Yu to sense a fragment of his own soul within the small seedling. He could use the same soul clone technique to enter the seedling, and his Soul Horizon now included the seedling’s field of vision.

The soul fragment deeply rooted within the seedling could not be separated from it, but this also allowed his soul fragment to firmly occupy the dominant position within the seedling.

The newborn seedling had not yet developed its own consciousness, and now it never would.

’From now on, this little seedling belongs to me. Once it grows up, I’ll be a World Tree myself.’

’This way, I won’t have to worry about the World Tree Seedling taking root in a world discovered by the World Vein Branch, only for some accident to happen and for it to escape my control.’

At that moment, Lin Yu once again felt fortunate that he had upgraded his "Soul Clone" skill and, in a flash of inspiration, had his soul clone remain permanently fused with the World Tree.

Otherwise, trying to keep the World Tree Seedling from escaping his control would have been an incredibly troublesome affair. After all, it was a World Tree, and he had no way of restricting its growth.

Thinking back to the World Tree’s expansion speed during its first stage as a seedling, and then comparing it to its current speed, Lin Yu took a deep breath and held it for a long time before finally letting it out.

The benefits from this territory core upgrade had completely exceeded Lin Yu’s expectations.

’Now, I’m getting a little tired of playing house with the other lords. I just want to end this stage as soon as possible, return to the main Cosmos, and then find a chance to plant the seedling somewhere the tournament organizing committee can’t reach.’

"My Lord, an envoy from the Titan Race has come to visit!"

Just then, a message from Al arrived before Lin Yu.

To facilitate communication with the main territory, Al had dispatched people to build a highway leading to it.

The main territory had also built an administrative center office at the end of this road, in a border forest.

It was permanently staffed by several subordinate officials from the administrative center.

Whenever a message arrived from Al, these officials would use the special permissions of the territory’s administrative center to relay it. The information would then be screened, and anything important was reported to Lin Yu.

After receiving the message, Lin Yu’s consciousness descended upon Als Territory.

Al was currently in the reception hall meeting with the envoy.

It seemed, however, that the two of them weren’t getting along. They were trading barbed words, and the air was thick with tension.

But from the look on Al’s face, he was enjoying this rare opportunity for a face-to-face exchange with one of his fellow Titan Clan People.

"Al, which lord sent this envoy?" Lin Yu’s voice suddenly appeared in Al’s mind.

Al quickly stood up, no longer bothering to bicker with the Titan across from him, and answered respectfully.

"My Lord, he was sent by Kazaria. He says they want to form an alliance with us."

"Oh? The leader of your Titan Race’s Civilian Lords?"

Lin Yu heard the somewhat familiar name and, after a moment of thought, recalled who he was.

"Yes! My Lord. Kazaria is one of the more outstanding individuals among our current generation of Civilian Lords. He hasn’t received much of an education, but he is naturally gifted, clever, and adaptable. He holds a great deal of prestige among the Civilian Lords."

"They know that I’ve pledged allegiance to you, My Lord, so they sent someone specifically to seek an alliance with you."

Lin Yu didn’t care how this Kazaria had found out that Al had pledged allegiance to him. It wasn’t hard to guess. All one needed to do was send people to scout Als Territory carefully to learn of the tremendous changes, as Lin Yu had no intention of hiding any of it.

He now had enough power that he no longer needed to fear his situation being exposed.

"Ask him what the specific terms of the alliance are!"

"You talk to him first. I’ll watch from the side."

"Yes, My Lord!"

Kazaria’s envoy—Mica—was looking at Al with bewilderment, wondering why the lord had suddenly started muttering to himself.

"Mica, my lord has now authorized me to formally negotiate with you."

"So, tell me, what is it you people really want?"

Although Mica was curious how Al was communicating with the lord behind him—he hadn’t seen Al take out any sort of communication device—he didn’t press the issue.

Mica: "Chief Kazaria says..."

Mica said a lot, but it could all be summarized in a few sentences.

Kazaria wanted to ally with the power behind Al, so that they would draw the fire of the Titan Race’s nobility.

Then, they would attack the nobles’ territories from the rear, catching them in a pincer attack.
