Global Lords: My Territory Heart Is a World Tree
Chapter 376 - 8: A Little Shock
Chapter 376: Chapter 8: A Little Shock
Watching the roots continuously sprouting from the ground, along with the bizarrely shaped plants being delivered to designated spots, everyone understood that Lord Lin Yu was in the process of planning his defensive line.
Just as everyone was leaning in for a closer look, the perspective shifted, flying back toward the interior of the territory.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!! Where’s it going? Keep watching!!"
"Yeah, let us see more!"
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance!"
...
The lords all started shouting, glaring at the one playing the projection. Under the weight of their gazes, the pressure on that lord skyrocketed, and beads of sweat instantly formed on his forehead.
"What are you looking at? This is a recording, not a live broadcast!!!"
He roared back.
The crowd was left speechless.
The lord’s roar reminded everyone that this wasn’t a live broadcast. They could only shoot resentful glares at the messenger, but no one dared to actually start trouble with him. They had already seen from the footage that the messenger was a Sword Immortal, and nobody wanted to pick a fight with a Legendary Hero.
Sure enough, after the camera flew out of the chasm, nothing else exciting appeared in the footage—just a vast forest of towering trees. Eventually, even the person filming seemed to get bored and stopped recording continuously, only pulling out the camera to film for a bit every now and then.
This actually made things easier for the lords. Judging by the timestamps in the footage, the messenger had likely been flying for several days without even leaving the forest.
No one suspected the messenger was just flying in circles, because the trees in the video kept getting larger. Toward the end, the trees reached a height that defied their understanding, with one several-hundred-meter-tall giant after another appearing on screen.
"Damn... Just how big is Lord Lin’s territory?"
"What kind of lord is he? Why is it all trees?!"
"He must be a Druid. I’m guessing only a Druid would maintain such a natural landscape."
"Hey, messenger, you didn’t get lost, did you? How can it still be a forest after so many days? From the video, it looks like you were moving pretty fast."
One of the lords couldn’t resist asking.
"I’m a grown man," the messenger replied. "I didn’t get lost. Just keep watching."
Next came more clips of the forest.
Finally, the scene changed. The strange plants in the forest grew denser, and soldiers in armor appeared on screen.
The two parties exchanged some words. It’s unclear what was said, but a fight broke out.
A few flashes of a blade were seen, and the soldiers were struck down.
"You fought with them?" Li Hua asked, looking at the messenger.
"Yes..." the messenger admitted, his head lowered. "They tried to drive me out, but I refused. I hadn’t even delivered the letter yet. If I’d just left, the whole trip would’ve been a waste!"
"But I held back. I just drove them off; I didn’t hurt them."
"You still can’t just attack people on their own turf!" Li Hua pressed his hands to his forehead, completely speechless. "Weren’t you afraid their heroes would show up?"
’Why are these Sword Immortals so stubborn after cultivating for so long?’
’Next time I send an envoy, I’d better pick a Sword Immortal with a bit more emotional intelligence and diplomatic skill.’
And sure enough, a short figure charged out of the forest in the video.
A blast of Sword Qi flew at the newcomer. He didn’t dodge or even flinch. A golden light flared around him, and the Sword Qi struck him without so much as tearing his clothes. Then, the figure closed in and threw a punch at the camera, and the screen went black.
"See? You got what was coming to you!" Li Hua had seen this part too and shot the messenger an exasperated look.
He then walked forward and, to the astonishment of the lord who had been playing the video, pulled out the memory card.
"Alright, now that everyone has seen it, there should be no more doubts. It’s not that the messenger I sent was incompetent, but that Lord Lin Yu’s power is simply beyond our imagination."
"Lord Lin Yu accepted my invitation and has agreed to join our joint defense. But, as you’ve all seen, his territory is immense—the area he has to defend is larger than all of ours put together. He’s extremely busy at the moment."
"For that reason, Lord Lin Yu cannot attend in person."
"However, Lord Lin Yu has sent one of his most capable commanders and his elites to attend the meeting in his stead."
"Let’s give a warm welcome to Yuan Xiaobo!"
CLAP CLAP CLAP—
Amidst the applause, Yuan Xiaobo walked into the conference room.
Upon seeing Yuan Xiaobo’s face, all the lords gasped in recognition. They had just witnessed a sliver of his power in the video, and now they were seeing the man in person. Anyone who could defeat a Legendary Hero so effortlessly must be a Legendary Hero himself.
To send one of the Legendary Heroes to the meeting—Lord Lin had indeed sent a top commander.
"My lords, my master sent me to attend the joint defense meeting. I don’t really know what to do, but we can contribute some troops, probably 100,000 to 200,000. You all can decide the rest; I’ll just cooperate from my end."
Yuan Xiaobo made it clear from the start: he was only here to provide support from his territory. The specific battle plans were up to the other lords.
"100,000! 200,000!!"
"Are they the Druids from your territory?"
one lord asked, his voice filled with hopeful excitement.
"No, no. They’re a new type of unit from our territory—the Spiritual Armed Corps."
The novel name "Spiritual Armament" left the lords wondering what kind of corps this could be.
"Could you give us a demonstration?" one lord proposed. "Your corps will be a core part of our plan. If we don’t know your combat capabilities, it’s hard for us to strategize."
Yuan Xiaobo readily agreed. "Of course. I brought a small team with me for the express purpose of giving you a demonstration."
Having gotten Yuan Xiaobo’s approval, the lords crowded around him as they exited the conference hall.
Soon, only Li Hua and his messenger remained in the hall. The messenger could see that the other lords showed his master no respect at all.
He said indignantly, "My lord, those people are far too audacious. Should I have the brothers teach them a lesson?"
"No need. This works out for the better. Once they’ve built the defensive line, I’ll only need to leave a small number of Sword Immortals to help with the defense. The rest can be deployed behind enemy lines to capture territory. They’ll be perfect for ambushes or decapitation strikes."
"Ohh..." The messenger’s eyes lit up with understanding.
With that, the two of them also left the conference hall.
