Chapter 364: Chapter 4: Pre-war Deployment (Part 3)

Therefore, the territory’s military officers could only find similar training manuals from the Wisdom Library and the Glacier World and use them as a template. They would have to play it by ear, adapting their methods through practice and real combat.

The final issue was logistics. The territory’s resource output was more than sufficient, but transporting supplies to the various garrisons would take some effort. Although the Heaven-Reaching Vine Pods were fast, their carrying capacity was insufficient for large-scale transportation of goods.

Lin Yu had learned at a previous briefing that during this stage, all official competition Teleportation Arrays would be shut down. Unless a territory could set up its own Teleportation Array, they would have to rely on manual transport.

Fortunately, the territory had already developed Floating Cars. They had also successfully developed and built a considerable number of large transport-model Floating Cars, so logistics most likely wouldn’t be an issue.

After organizing these pressing issues, Lin Yu compiled them and sent the list to the Military Center, instructing Meiying to lead the territory’s officers in completing these tasks as quickly as possible.

The main priorities were to divide the territory’s entire regular force into eight corps, organize four militia reserve units, establish military garrisons, and dispatch the corps to their new posts.

Mobilizing several million soldiers and setting up logistical supply lines would require considerable effort. Lin Yu believed the territory’s officers would be very busy in the time to come.

Finally, after sending a message to Chenxi at the Government Affairs Center to ensure the territory’s resource supply and normal development, Lin Yu turned his attention to the World Tree’s new ability: Elemental Rule Manipulation.

Lin Yu had yet to use this ability, which he’d gained from upgrading the territory’s core. He had a hunch that it would be very useful.

Lin Yu’s consciousness searched through the Middle Ring until he found an area with no citizens or Plantfolk. Then, he began to test "Elemental Rule Manipulation."

All sorts of anomalous changes gradually began to appear within this small, uninhabited area.

The wind passing through the region changed direction, its path becoming erratic without any collision to cause it.

As clouds drifted through the sky above, they would flicker faintly with lightning upon entering the area. The region’s magnetic field also fell into a state of chaos.

At the same time, the land, trees, and streams within the area also underwent bizarre transformations.

One moment, a cluster of earthen statues grew from the ground, so lifelike it was impossible to tell if they were real.

A moment later, the earthen statues, along with the ground itself, all transformed into metal. The statues then twisted, broke apart, and became metal blocks that fell onto the metallic ground with a crisp "CLANG CLANG."

Then, the entire metal ground began to melt, gradually becoming a pool of liquid metal.

This metallic liquid flowed slowly, its color gradually fading until it became a small lake filled with clear, fresh water.

Plants grew rapidly within the lake, and soon the entire body of water was filled with them.

Then, the small lake vanished, replaced by a dense jungle.

The jungle grew taller and taller. Suddenly, flames erupted upon the trees, spreading rapidly to all the vegetation and burning it to ash. The ash fell to the ground, which once again became solid earth.

(Metal begets Water, Water begets Wood, Wood begets Fire, Fire begets Earth, Earth begets Metal. A twisted version!!!)

Beyond that, Lin Yu also tried turning water into ice. He directly lowered the area’s temperature, covering everything in a layer of frost. He could create ice in any shape he desired.

He had even greater control over all substances containing the wood element. With just a thought, all wood elements would shift and change according to his will.

He could infuse something completely unrelated to the wood element and turn it to wood. Trees and plants would twist their forms at his whim, taking on any shape he wanted. Free-floating wood elements in the air could gather to create a wooden object out of thin air...

Most critically, all of this consumed no Spiritual Energy whatsoever. It was merely the elements themselves making simple changes under his will.

’Why do I feel like... inside my territory, I’m a god?’

’I can change the terrain, control the weather, and bring down calamities. I’m a proper god, the kind a primitive tribe would worship. Hahahaha~~’

The results of these simple experiments left Lin Yu incredibly excited.

He then thought of a great way to make his territory even more defensible.

After restoring the experimental area to its original state, Lin Yu’s consciousness left the uninhabited zone and descended upon the Outer Ring.

The entire Outer Ring had a primeval appearance. Nourished by Spiritual Energy and influenced by the "Soaring Giant Trees" territory trait, all the plants were enormous—at least twice the size of their ordinary counterparts.

When the territory’s inhabitants moved among them, it was like creatures from a land of pygmies arriving in a land of giants.

The inhabitants living in this area were mostly battle fanatics who fought on sight. Fortunately, their main goal was to hone their own abilities.

They fought with lethal intent, but those who could would stop once a victor was decided. Of course, they often couldn’t hold back in time, so injuries were inevitable. Some animals died from their wounds before they could be treated, and carnivorous animals certainly didn’t hold back when hunting.

Seeing his people strive so hard to improve, Lin Yu was very gratified. Although this constant fighting led to many deaths and injuries, as long as they could survive here, becoming a Gladiator was no problem, even if they couldn’t become a Druid Guard (which required a certain level of intelligence). Once they did, they could shed their mortal forms and step onto the Extraordinary path.

(With the attribute bonuses from a class, the effects of a Cultivation Technique would be enhanced, and the level cap would increase.)

Lin Yu’s consciousness then issued a proclamation to the Outer Ring. All the animals stopped fighting and, along with the Plantfolk, returned inside the outer defensive circle.

With the area cleared, Lin Yu began his work.

The ground of the Outer Ring began to vibrate as a minor earthquake spread throughout the entire layer, but it was confined only to the Outer Ring.

As the earth shook, the ground of the Outer Ring began to collapse, and five great chasms encircling the entire territory appeared.

Each chasm was over 20,000 kilometers long, 1,000 to 2,000 meters deep, and 15 kilometers wide.

Between every two chasms was a 5-kilometer-wide cliff face. The final chasm bordered the outer defensive line, and every 100 kilometers, there was a 5-kilometer-wide gentle slope leading toward the territory’s interior.

However, these four cliff faces did not completely seal off the chasms. Every hundred kilometers, a 5-kilometer gap appeared, allowing creatures within the chasms to pass through.

Afterward, the cliffs between the four chasms began to harden, transforming from earthen slopes into vertical rock faces. Finally, their cores all changed into the hardest metal Lin Yu knew, one with the greatest all-around damage resistance. Only a layer of soil was left on the surface for growing defensive plants.

As long as he planted projectile-type defensive plants in this soil, crossing these five chasms would be nigh impossible.
