Chapter 160: Chapter 143: The Captain Takes Action, Jianghu to the Rescue
"Damn it, they have a Fire-Type Evolver, and they’re aiming for our fuel tank!" Qin Haonan growled. "Sister Qin, evasive maneuvers! Don’t worry about ramming their speedboat!"
"Got it!" Si Youqin replied, immediately yanking the rudder hard to the right.
The speedboat swerved sharply to the right, its hull tilting at a steep angle.
Her reaction was swift and the turn sharp, but they were simply too close. The Fireball still struck the fuel tank dead-on.
The flames clung to the tank, refusing to go out!
"Stay on them! All other boats, aim for the fire and shoot!" the captain commanded instantly.
"Yes, sir!"
RAT-A-TAT-TAT!
Though the guards’ marksmanship was atrocious, some bullets were bound to strike the flame-covered area.
"This is bad! The tank’s metal shield is about to shatter! There’s a flame stuck to it, so I can’t repair it!" Jin Ziyu cried out in alarm. "The enemy Fire-Type Evolver has higher Mental Energy than I do!"
Her Attribute was already at a disadvantage, and with the opponent’s higher Mental Energy, Jin Ziyu was clearly no match for them.
This was a huge problem.
Qin Haonan’s brow furrowed. If the fuel tank was destroyed, they’d be completely stranded.
He had considered many scenarios, but he’d never anticipated they would have a Fire-Type Evolver with such immense Mental Energy!
Just then, Jianghu’s voice piped up from the side. "I can help. I’m a Water-Type Evolver. My Mental Energy isn’t high, but I should be able to put out a fire!"
After a brief hesitation, Qin Haonan nodded. "Do it. Put out the fire on the tank!"
It wasn’t that the possibility of a Water-Type Evolver between Lin Mu and Jianghu hadn’t occurred to him; he just didn’t trust the two of them enough. He was worried they might suddenly turn on him.
Jianghu gave a slight nod and immediately used his Superpower. A jet of water shot toward the flames on the tank.
SSSSSS!
The fire on the tank was instantly extinguished!
CRACK!
The sudden shift from hot to cold made the tank’s metal shield crack instantly!
But with the flames gone, Jin Ziyu was immediately able to use her Superpower to repair the shield!
"The fire’s out, and the tank’s shield is repaired!" Jin Ziyu let out a long sigh of relief.
Qin Haonan nodded and gave Jianghu a thumbs-up. "Impressive! Thanks!"
"Don’t mention it. Since we chose to join Peach Blossom Base, we’re part of the team now. It was the least we could do." Jianghu gave a slight bow with his fists cupped, then ducked back behind the curved steel plate.
Meanwhile, the crew from Dawn Base was stunned for a moment to see the flames extinguished!
Qin Haonan would never let an opportunity like this slip by. He hurled the Iron Melons in his hand one after another. Whether they hit the enemy boats or not, it would at least make them hesitate and keep their distance.
The captain’s speedboat was the closest, so Qin Haonan gave them some special attention, lobbing seven or eight Iron Melons their way in quick succession.
The pilot frantically swerved the speedboat left and right, but one Iron Melon still managed to land on their deck.
BANG!
The Iron Melon’s casing burst into shrapnel!
The captain reacted quickly, diving behind one of his senior officers. The officer absorbed the full blast and collapsed onto the deck, barely breathing.
The other officers all suffered minor injuries, and a fresh wave of pained cries filled the air.
The captain’s face was grim. For all their effort, it seemed they hadn’t managed to scratch the Peach Blossom Base speedboat.
And yet his own team had suffered nearly twenty casualties.
"Dammit! If it weren’t for that traitor, Jianghu, we would’ve definitely taken down this Peach Blossom Base speedboat!" the captain swore.
An aide at his side clutched a wounded arm. "Was that Jianghu who put out your fire, sir?"
"Who else could it have been!" the captain raged.
"Is Jianghu’s Mental Energy even higher than yours?" the aide asked, confused.
As far as he knew, the captain’s Mental Energy was immense; he shouldn’t have been outmatched by a young upstart like Jianghu.
