Chapter 234: 234

The frozen metal plates of the shattered chain net were still clinking against the lugger’s hull as the vessel glided into the dark, stagnant berth of the unranked market docks. Outside the portholes, the sea mist hung low and yellow, thick with the smell of heavy diesel exhaust and old river mud from the lower mudflats.

Jun-ho sat flat against the storage box in the center of the narrow hold, his large rubber boots planted two feet apart on the damp floorboards. He had laid the stone-gray slabs of the Ashen Monarch Core Plate near his shins, the physical density of his frame making the timber panel beneath his soles give a small, dry creak with every wave.

Right at the lower corner of his eye, the solid black status text box opened across his vision, perfectly silent.

[Level: 36]

[Unassigned Attribute Points: 5]

[Mana: 2200/8500]

[ Active Trait: Ashen Domain (Phase 4 – 70-meter radius)]

He didn’t waste time thinking about the forty broken visors floating behind the reef marker. He focused his mind entirely on the five fresh points waiting in his eye. To stabilize his Phase 4 domain against the long-range radar loops of the legacy fleets, his raw internal reserves needed a permanent anchor.

"Put all 5 points into Mana," Jun-ho whispered into his own hood.

[Attribute Allocation Detected: 5 Points to Mana.]

[Applying 100x Multiplier to Resource Logic...]

[Mana increased by 500. Current Mana: 2700/9000.]

The shift inside his chest was completely silent. The frozen reservoir behind his ribs expanded by another full circle, a deep, heavy density settling into his shoulder blades and his left wrist. The air right around his large rubber boots grew thin, a thin layer of gray frost opening across the wood grain of the floorboards beneath his soles, a small disc of white ice forming exactly where his rubber boots were planted.

Lilith slid right up to his left elbow, her exceptionally long, smooth legs cutting a clean line through the low purple mist of the floorboards. The tight crimson leather of her outfit pulled dangerously flat across the voluptuous, perfect curve of her round hips, her narrow waist twisting with a deliberate, heavy rhythm that brought her frame right against his denim trousers. Her massive, half-visible chest rose and fell in quick, deep gasps against his bare upper arm, her full red lips parting into a low, breathless murmur that carried the sharp scent of raw sulfur and dark incense straight to his neck.

"Your internal density is shifting again, big guy," Lilith whispered, her wide crimson eyes glowing with a lazy, dangerous fire under her long ink-black hair. Her long fingers, tipped with sharp crimson nails, caught the wet hem of his gray shirt, pulling his torso an inch closer to her shoulder with a teasing, hot friction that made his skin prickle against the frost. "My spirit belongs to your ribs now, Jun-ho. Let the water girl count her columns—I want to watch you clear the next vault from the inside of my skin."

She was falling for him completely, her primitive demon instincts locked onto his presence with a fierce, submissive passion that made her knees tremble against his boots.

"Move your chest back, demon," Eun-bi’s sharp, furious voice barked from the opposite canvas cot, her fingers tightening around her silver trauma scissors with an intense, biting jealousy.

She walked two long steps across the narrow aisle, jamming her heavy rubber boot directly between Lilith’s leather trousers and the side of Jun-ho’s jeans. Her bare thigh pressed hard against his shins for stability as the boat hit a larger swell, her eyes locking straight onto his face.

"The database log is still running the core synchronization, Jun-ho. If you let this rogue broker crowd the narrow track with her hair and her incense, the system will trace the mana displacement before we can even clear the drainage outlet. The registry belongs to the collective detail, not her private bedroom."

Rea slid off the secondary workbench with a slow, fluid stride that made the high-slashed silk of her black tunic rustle loudly against her long bare legs. Her golden-blue eyes spun slowly in a lazy, dangerous circle under the gray sky, her full crimson lips tightening into a thin, jealous line as she wedged her own voluptuous hourglass shape tight against Jun-ho’s opposite sleeve, her wild orchid perfume cutting sharp through Lilith’s sulfur incense.

"The little nurse is right about the timer, big guy," Rea murmured, her bare arm rubbing against his shirt fabric with a heavy, possessive friction that competitive edge turning her tone sharp. "The demon girl is a bit too forward with her placement. She thinks because she signed the soul bind she owns the whole ledger line. I have the master key for the lower drainage grid already logged on my console. We don’t need her sulfur codes to clear the path."

Jun-ho didn’t pull back an inch from any of them. He reached out his bare right hand, his fingers closing around Rea’s narrow waist under the loose silk fabric of her tunic, while his left shoulder remained pinned against the hot, firm line of Lilith’s leather top. The dual friction made the suppressed lake behind his ribs pulse in a deep, slow rhythm that filled the entire dark hold with a silent, heavy weight.

"The path is open," Jun-ho said flatly.

He stood up from his cedar chest, his large rubber boots making a quiet, firm thud on the floorboards as he picked up the solid black wedge of The Ash Remnant. They climbed out through the low deck hatch onto the open stern deck, stepping over the rail onto the dark timber planks of the pier.

Tae-woo and the four elite vanguards formed a tight, heavy wall right behind his shoulders, their massive Tier 4 frames making the wet gravel creak under their weight. They walked past a long row of rusted shipping containers, heading straight toward the end of the floating lane where a low, red-roofed stone structure sat right next to a smoking kiln chimney—the shop of Old Man Jo’s black-market fence contact.

Jun-ho pushed open the heavy iron door of the forge, stepping straight into the hot, red glare of the interior.

Sitting behind a massive stone counter was the fence, a short man with arms like knotted pine roots who didn’t look up from his ledger as the door opened. He could feel the cold, heavy vibration of the Phase 4 domain leaking through the threshold, turning the water in his cleaning buckets into solid white discs of ice instantly.

"Gyeong-su sent the wire three hours ago," the fence said, his voice deep and raspy. He looked up slowly, his small, sharp eyes locking onto the matte-black hemp wrap of Jun-ho’s sword. "He said you were carrying the unranked ledger past the twelve-mile reef. The legacy guilds have already placed a fifty-million-won bounty on your name, kid. But down here, the paper money doesn’t clear the log. If you want the coordinates for the next ancient core, you drop the bag on the wood."

Jun-ho walked right up to the granite counter, his rubber boots sliding smoothly over the frost, the blunt tip of his sword pointing straight at the fence’s master book as the silent gray boxes at the bottom of his eye began to map out the next breakthrough logic.
