The dark hull of Rea’s private lugger cut through the grey salt swells of the inner harbor channel like a knife through soft tallow. Outside the small, grease-stained portholes of the lower hold, the cold maritime mist was turning a deep, bruised purple, stained by the heavy neon runoff from the central district’s upper commercial towers. The high concrete sea walls loomed over the channel, their automated tracking grids casting thin, sweeping lanes of orange light across the surface of the dark water.

Down in the low crew quarters, the air was intensely hot and close. The raw copper boiler line tracking across the iron keel plates let out a continuous, wet whistle, leaking thin columns of white steam that smelled of heavy sea brine, burnt oil fuel, and the rich, peppery ginger tea Eun-bi had left simmering over the stove grate.

Jun-ho sat flat against the long cedar storage box, his massive rubber boots planted firm on the damp floorboards. He had unbuckled the stone-gray slabs of the Ashen Monarch Core Plate from his chest, setting the thick rock panels near his ankles with a dull thud. His plain gray shirt was completely damp from the spray, the thin cotton fabric clinging flat to his shoulders and chest, outlining the powerful, dense lines of his upper frame—muscles that had multiplied in physical mass after the legendary Phase 4 evolution.

Right at the lower corner of his eye, the solid black blocks of text were waiting, perfectly silent.

"The system logic needs a complete resource allocation before we clear the inner lock, Jun-ho," Eun-bi’s voice called out from the opposite canvas cot. She had her canvas bag slung tight across her waist, her gray flannel shirt left undone at the throat because of the suffocating heat of the boiler line, exposing the sharp, neat line of her collarbones. Her dark hair was messy, loose strands sticking to her wet forehead, but her sharp face carried that regular, flat public-sector drawl as she held her clipboard under the lamp light. "If you don’t map out the Phase 4 squad metrics now, the central harbor grid will trace the mana displacement the second we touch the concrete wharf."

Jun-ho tilted his head, his dark eyes focusing on the paper lines as the gray subtitles filled his vision.

The reaction inside his chest was completely silent. The frozen lake behind his ribs expanded by another full circle, a deep, heavy density settling into his shoulder blades and his left wrist. The air right around his cedar chest grew cold, a thin layer of gray frost opening across the wood grain of the floorboards, a small disc of white ice forming exactly where his rubber boots were planted.

Lilith didn’t stay near the iron pillars of the hold. She moved across the frozen floorboards with a slow, heavy sway of her hips that made the tight crimson leather of her outfit rustle softly against his denim jeans. Her exceptionally long, smooth legs cut a clean line through the dim light, her narrow waist twisting with a deliberate, voluptuous rhythm that accentuated the large, round curve of her fit ass beneath the leather casing.

She walked right up to Jun-ho’s side, her voluptuous frame leaning its entire weight flat against his bare upper arm. Her massive, half-visible chest rose and fell in quick, deep gasps, the tight crimson leather straining against her rounded fullness as she tilted her face up. Her wide crimson eyes glowed with an intense, burning fire under her long ink-black hair, her full red lips parting into a low, breathless murmur right against his neck.

"The registry is locked, big guy," Lilith whispered, her voice a deep, velvety purr that trembled with a sudden, fierce devotion. Her long fingers, tipped with sharp crimson nails, slid slowly up his bare arm, her palms burning hot against his cool skin. "My spirit belongs to your ribs now, Jun-ho. Let the little nurse count her columns—I want to watch you break the central district vault from the inside of this cabin."

She was completely unraveled. The raw, absolute density of his Phase 4 framework had broken her primitive demon defenses, forcing her to press her large chest flat against his arm with a submissive, desperate hunger that made her skin flush a soft, hot pink color under the lamp.

"Move your chest back, demon," Eun-bi’s sharp, furious voice barked from the opposite cot, her fingers tightening around her silver trauma scissors with an intense, biting jealousy. She walked two long steps across the narrow aisle, jamming her heavy rubber boot directly between Lilith’s leather trousers and the side of Jun-ho’s jeans. Her bare thigh pressed hard against his shins for stability as the boat hit a larger swell.

"The database log is still running the core synchronization, Jun-ho. If you let this broker crowd the track with her hair and her incense, the system will trace the mana displacement before we can even clear the drainage outlet."

Rea slid off the secondary workbench with a slow, fluid stride that made the high-slashed silk of her black tunic rustle loudly against her long bare legs. Her golden-blue eyes spun slowly in a lazy, dangerous circle, her full crimson lips tightening into a thin, jealous line as she wedged her own voluptuous hourglass shape tight against Jun-ho’s opposite sleeve, her wild orchid perfume cutting sharp through Lilith’s sulfur incense.

"The little nurse is right about the timer, big guy," Rea murmured, her bare arm rubbing against his shirt fabric with a heavy, possessive friction that competitive edge turning her tone sharp. "The demon girl is a bit too forward with her placement. She thinks because she signed the soul bind she owns the whole ledger line."

Lilith let out a low, dangerous growl through her teeth, her crimson eyes flaring with a dark fire as her voluptuous hips leaned even harder into Jun-ho’s side, her large chest pressing flat against his ribs to mark her territory. "The book has already locked my spirit to his chest, water girl. My hand is locked to his line, and the room down here doesn’t check the size of your scissors."

Jun-ho didn’t pull back an inch from any of them. His face remained an unmoving sheet of stone under his gray hood, his large rubber boots keeping a steady, unwavering stride until the wooden stairs gave a long, ragged creak as Tae-woo’s heavy iron hand threw the deck hatch open.

"We’ve hit the hidden harbor line, boss!" the big vanguard called out, his broken nose twitching as he pointed through the gray mist toward the dark concrete wharf ahead. "The Sun God Guild’s main security detail has forty heavy enforcers deployed across the slipway planks! They’re running a synchronized extraction line with short crossbows!"

Jun-ho stood up from his cedar chest, his large rubber boots making a quiet, firm thud on the floorboards as he buckled the stone-gray slabs of his armor back over his chest. His fingers closed around the rough black hemp wrap of his sword, his face perfectly calm under his hood.

"Let’s go up."

They climbed through the low deck hatch onto the open stern deck. The air outside was freezing, the grey ocean mist rolling over the rail in thick, wet sheets that smelled of old brine and central city chemical runoff.

Ahead of the bow, the hidden city harbor line rose straight out of the dark water—a massive, concrete wharf built from thick blocks of grey mountain granite. Forty heavy enforcers in thick, polished grey steel plates stood in a tight semicircle across the slipway, their short crossbows primed with glowing blue tracking arrows, their iron clubs raised to clear the path.

"Target identified!" the lead enforcer shouted through his visor, his hand already releasing his string. "Rogue Vanguard, Kang Jun-ho! Drop the black bar and get on the concrete!"

Jun-ho took two long steps forward, his rubber boots sliding smoothly over the wet wood planks of the bow. He raised The Ash Remnant with his left hand, let the lake of cold mana behind his ribs break its banks completely, the Ashen Domain - Phase 4 expanding outward in a flat, seventy-meter ring of thick grey frost.

[Ashen Domain Phase 4 Active.]

[Perimeter State: 70 meters (Extended by the Monarch’s Torc).]

[Mana Cost: 500 per minute. Current Mana: 3200/8500.]

The air inside the seventy-meter circle dropped forty degrees in a microsecond, the wet salt spray on the concrete instantly turning into a thick sheet of white ice. The world inside the perimeter slowed down until the forty blue tracking arrows fired by the enforcers looked like lazy grey flies floating through the drizzle.

Jun-ho didn’t use a shield, and he didn’t use his back. He simply snapped his left wrist, driving the sharp matte edge of the five-thousand-fold blade straight down onto the concrete wharf beneath his feet.

The sound wasn’t a standard blast; it was a localized earthquake that shattered the massive granite wharf into thousands of tiny stone shards. The force of the strike, multiplied five thousand times by the weapon’s bound trait, didn’t just clear the front line; the shockwave tore all forty corporate enforcers off their feet, throwing their grey steel bodies backward through the heavy warehouse walls in a single, massive wave of shattered masonry.

The gray notification boxes piled up across his vision in clean lines before vanishing, leaving only the ink-black text of his new level waiting on his screen. Jun-ho lowered his sword, his fingers uncurling from the rough hemp grip as the frost around his boots began to melt back into regular oil brine. He turned his head slowly, looking back at Rea, Eun-bi, and Lilith who were walking right behind his shoulders, their canvas bags slung tight as they headed toward the central district main vault line.
