Before leaving Cameron City, Kai decided that there was one more thing they needed to take care of.

The two children needed new clothes.

Xian and Xinyi had been wearing the same few outfits for quite some time, and although their clothes were still usable, Kai felt that there was no reason to let them continue wearing worn-out clothing now that they were returning to the Codebreakers Shelter.

"We should get them some new clothes first," Farrah suggested after seeing Kai looking at their clothes.

Kai nodded in agreement. "Let’s buy several sets for each of them."

The two children immediately became interested when they heard that.

"New clothes?" Xinyi asked, her eyes lighting up.

"Yes," Kai replied with a smile. "You can choose some of them yourself."

That was enough to make Xinyi excited.

The group soon found a clothing store that still had plenty of children’s clothes available. Although the store was nowhere near as luxurious as the shops that had existed before the apocalypse, there was still a decent selection of shirts, pants, dresses, jackets, shoes, and other basic clothing.

Farrah immediately took Xinyi with her while Kai stayed with Xian.

"Come on, Xinyi. Let’s see what fits you."

Xinyi happily followed Farrah between the shelves while Kai looked through the clothes for Xian.

After a few minutes, Kai picked up a dark jacket and held it in front of the boy.

"How about this?"

Xian looked at the jacket carefully before nodding. "I like it."

"Then we’ll take it."

Kai placed it into the shopping basket before looking for something else.

However, before he could pick another piece of clothing, Farrah appeared beside him with several outfits in her arms.

"That’s not enough."

Kai looked at the clothes she was carrying.

"How many outfits do they need?"

Farrah stared at him.

"They’re children, Kai. They need more than one set of clothes."

Kai scratched his cheek awkwardly.

"I’ve never really had to shop for children before."

"I can tell."

Farrah gave him an amused look before returning to Xinyi.

Kai could only smile helplessly and continue following her suggestions.

Over the next hour, the simple shopping trip turned into something much larger. Farrah carefully picked out several outfits for Xinyi, while Kai did the same for Xian. Whenever one of the children found something they liked, they would show it to Kai or Farrah and wait for their approval.

At one point, Xinyi came out wearing a simple dress that Farrah had chosen for her. She looked at herself in the mirror for a moment before turning toward Kai.

"Sir Kai, does this look good?"

Kai looked at her and nodded.

"It looks great."

Xinyi immediately smiled.

"Then I want this one!"

Farrah smiled as well. "See? You have good taste."

Kai glanced at Farrah before smiling teasingly.

"You sound like a mother."

Farrah froze for a moment before turning toward him.

"What did you say?"

"Nothing."

"You definitely said something."

Kai quickly looked away.

"I said the dress looks good."

Farrah narrowed her eyes at him, clearly unconvinced, but eventually she simply shook her head and returned to helping Xinyi.

Meanwhile, Xian had found a few shirts and pants that he liked. Kai bought all of them without hesitation, along with several pairs of shoes, socks, jackets, and other necessities. Farrah also picked out two small backpacks for the siblings, insisting that they would need them once they returned to the shelter.

By the time they finished shopping, Kai was carrying several bags in both hands.

He looked at the amount of clothing they had bought and couldn’t help but laugh.

"Did we really buy this much?"

Farrah looked at him as if the answer were obvious.

"Of course. They’re going to need everything eventually."

Kai nodded.

"Then we’ll just buy more when they need it."

Xinyi hugged her new backpack tightly while Xian stood beside her with a smile.

"Thank you, Sir Kai," Xinyi said happily.

"Thank you," Xian added.

Kai smiled at the two children.

"There’s no need to thank me. You two can just enjoy your new clothes."

Farrah watched the interaction quietly for a moment.

There was something strangely peaceful about the scene. Kai was carrying their bags, the children were excited about their new clothes, and she had spent nearly an hour helping Xinyi choose what she liked.

For a moment, it almost felt as though they were an ordinary family out shopping together.

Farrah couldn’t help but think about it.

"We really look like a family right now."

Kai glanced at her and froze for a moment...

"You think so?"

Farrah immediately realized what she had said and her face became slightly red.

"I didn’t mean it like that!"

Kai smiled.

"Then what did you mean?"

"Just forget it."

Xinyi, who had been listening to them, suddenly looked up at Farrah.

"Are you and Sir Kai married?"

Farrah’s expression instantly changed.

"What?! No!"

Xian also looked toward the two adults with curiosity.

Kai, on the other hand, couldn’t stop himself from laughing.

Xinyi tilted her head innocently.

"Then why do you act like a family?"

Farrah was completely speechless.

Kai looked at her with an amused smile.

"That’s actually a good question."

"Don’t encourage her!"

Farrah lightly hit his arm, causing the two children to burst into laughter.

After finishing their shopping, they finally headed toward the transportation area. Kai had already prepared two hoverboards for the journey back to the Codebreakers Shelter, and there was no need for them to use a vehicle when the hoverboards could easily carry them through the damaged roads outside the city.

Soon, they got the clearance to get out of the city...

Kai stepped onto one of them and looked toward Xian.

"Come here. You’ll ride with me."

Xian immediately walked over.

"I’ve never ridden one before."

"Don’t worry. I’ll carry you. Just hold on tightly."

Kai then picked up the boy and placed him in front of himself before activating the hoverboard.

Farrah did the same with Xinyi, allowing the little girl to sit in front of her while holding onto her.

"Ready?" Kai asked.

Xian nodded excitedly.

"Ready!"

Xinyi also laughed.

"I’m ready too!"

The hoverboards slowly rose from the ground before accelerating forward!

However, before they could completely get out of the city’s vicinity, Kai immediately sensed danger!
