Chapter 734 - 734: Attending a Classmate's Wedding
Two days later, after packing their luggage, Ichin led the entire group onto a flight back to Shanghai.
After a two hour flight, Yukino and Haruno naturally returned to the place where they had stayed before.
As for Eriri and the other bridesmaids, Ichin booked them into a luxury hotel not far from his neighborhood.
His and Utaha's house was meant to be their marital home, so it obviously wasn't suitable for accommodating everyone. Yukino and Haruno's place didn't have enough spare rooms either.
Besides, the hotel wasn't exactly a downgrade.
It was a five star hotel, and since Ichin was paying for everything, none of the girls had any complaints.
More importantly, staying at the hotel made it easier for them to go sightseeing whenever they had free time.
After getting Eriri and the others settled in, Ichin returned home with Utaha, her parents, Yukino, and Haruno.
His parents had already been waiting for them.
Seeing their son, future daughter in law, and the in laws arrive together, they warmly welcomed everyone inside.
After serving tea, Ichin's mother looked at him and asked,
"Ichin, are Eriri and the others at the hotel now?"
Ichin nodded.
"Yeah. I told them to get some rest first. We're having dinner out tonight anyway, so we'll see them later."
Only then did his mother relax before turning to discuss tomorrow's visit to the wedding venue with Utaha's parents.
Meanwhile, Ichin took out the wedding invitation his classmate had mailed a few days earlier and looked through it together with Utaha and the others.
"We're attending my classmate's wedding in three days. You girls are all coming, right?"
The three of them nodded together.
Haruno smiled excitedly.
"It should be fun! There'll probably be lots of people there, right?"
"Yeah."
"It's not the same hotel we'll be using, but it's still a pretty big venue."
"There'll probably be around thirty banquet tables."
Both the groom's and the bride's families had plenty of relatives attending, so it was going to be a lively celebration.
It would also be a chance to reunite with many classmates he hadn't seen in years.
Utaha gently tugged on Ichin's sleeve.
"Ichin, how much are you planning to give as a wedding gift?"
"I'll prepare it tomorrow."
"He told everyone not to worry about giving too much, but he's the first one in our class to get married."
"I should at least make it meaningful."
"I'll give 9,999 yuan."
For Ichin, that amount wasn't worth mentioning.
Besides, the number carried a nice symbolic meaning, so he decided on it immediately.
His parents nodded approvingly.
"That's a good amount."
"When you attend the wedding, it'll also give you a chance to experience the atmosphere."
"Once you're back, you and Utaha should familiarize yourselves with every part of your own ceremony as soon as possible."
Hearing that, both Ichin and Utaha exchanged excited smiles.
...
Three days later.
At ten in the morning, after getting ready, Ichin drove Utaha, Haruno, and Yukino to the wedding venue.
By the time they arrived, quite a few guests had already gathered outside the banquet hall, signing in before entering.
Ichin quickly spotted several of his high school classmates in the crowd and immediately brought the three women over to greet them.
When they saw that he had brought not only Utaha, but also Haruno and Yukino, everyone looked surprised.
They had already met the sisters during previous class reunions.
"You really brought the whole family with you."
"Not even close."
Ichin laughed.
"The other bridesmaids are all out sightseeing."
"I haven't even seen them for two days."
"I never should've given them paid vacation. They're having way too much fun."
One of his classmates grinned.
"Ichin, I bet the bridesmaids you picked are gorgeous."
"Can you introduce us?"
"We're all still single!"
"Yeah, exactly!"
Ichin looked at his friends with a smile.
"I'm not playing matchmaker."
"If you want to meet them, you'll have to introduce yourselves."
"They all speak Chinese just fine."
"How far the conversation goes depends entirely on your own abilities."
Eriri and the others weren't particularly interested in dating right now.
Ichin couldn't make decisions for them.
His classmates would have to rely on themselves.
...
After entering the banquet hall, Utaha, Haruno, and Yukino looked around curiously.
The scale of the wedding was genuinely impressive.
There were actually more guests than would be attending Ichin and Utaha's wedding.
Since they were holding ceremonies in two different countries, each wedding would mainly focus on the family and friends from one side.
Besides her parents, only a handful of Utaha's relatives would attend the ceremony in China.
The same would be true later when they held the second ceremony in Tokyo.
After finding his name at one of the tables reserved for friends near the front of the hall, Ichin sat down with Utaha, Haruno, Yukino, and several classmates.
Not long afterward, more classmates arrived.
Every one of them looked surprised by how many people Ichin had brought.
Ichin smiled.
"I may have brought three extra guests, but I also gave a pretty generous wedding gift."
"The groom definitely isn't losing money because of me."
"Huh?"
"Really?"
"How much did you give?"
"I only gave 1,500."
Another classmate laughed.
"Well, Ichin's a big boss now."
"I bet he gave a huge amount."
Pouring tea for Utaha and the others, Ichin shrugged.
"I gave 9,999."
"Anything higher would've been a little excessive."
"After all, he'll be attending my wedding with Utaha too."
"That's still a lot!"
Now that everyone had jobs, they all had some savings.
Most of them still lived with their families, so they didn't have to pay rent.
Even so, young people tended to spend money rather freely.
Most of the wedding gifts this time were around one thousand yuan, which was considered fairly average.
Ichin smiled as he took a sip of tea.
"The amount isn't really what matters."
"It's the thought behind it."
"The money comes second."
He glanced toward another nearby table.
"Hm? Looks like we're not the only ones who know people here."
Several guests at the neighboring tables were also familiar faces.
The rest were relatives and friends from the bride's side.
Before the ceremony began, everyone chatted leisurely together.
...
At 11:15 a.m., the host stepped onto the stage and reminded everyone to take their seats.
The hall gradually fell silent.
The wedding officially began.
Leaning against Ichin's shoulder, Utaha watched as the bride, escorted by her father, slowly walked toward the groom.
She whispered softly into his ear,
"When it's our wedding..."
"I'll definitely be even more beautiful."
Ichin smiled and nodded.
"I know."
"But today..."
"Let's leave the title of 'most beautiful' to the bride."
The ceremony was lively from beginning to end.
Through the giant screen at the front of the hall, everyone watched videos of the groom's earlier journey to pick up the bride, including all the playful challenges and games he'd had to complete.
Then came the exchange of rings.
Every step of the ceremony was both joyful and deeply touching.
Watching scene after scene unfold before her only made Utaha look forward to her own wedding even more.
