Chapter 287: Faye Found Malo (2)

Faye kept following the limo wherever they were taking Malo. Bestie was in that car, and she was going to follow and rescue him no matter what. Her palms were sweating against the leather steering wheel as she leaned forward, her eyes wide and locked entirely onto the shiny black rear bumper of the long car ahead.

She didn’t even think about the danger or whoever was inside that car. She would do whatever it took to save Malo.

Then the limo stopped.

Faye stopped too. She slammed on the brakes, the tires screeching softly as she pulled over to the side of the road, her chest heaving as she threw the gear shift into park.

She didn’t even realize they were now in the middle of nowhere. She blinked, looking out the side window at the empty dirt fields and the overgrown weeds lining the deserted stretch of highway, the city completely left behind.

Two men stepped out of the limo and walked up to Faye’s car. They moved with heavy, deliberate steps, their dark suits pressed perfectly flat despite the dusty air. One knocked on the window, his heavy ring clicking sharply against the glass.

Faye rolled the window down. She braced her shoulders against the seat, keeping her jaw tight as she stared up at the large man.

"Come out, please," one of the men said. His voice was completely flat, his eyes hidden behind dark sunglasses as he extended a hand toward the door handle.

"Men in black, If you want to ask why I was tailing you, it’s because you have my best friend in the car," Faye said. She didn’t move an inch, her voice rising slightly as her wolf instincts warned her to stay alert.

One of them brought out a gun and pointed it at her. The dark metal barrel gleamed under the bright morning sun, aimed right between her eyes.

She had no choice m, she let out a sharp breath through her nose, slowly lifting her hands where they could see them and pushing the door open.

They told her to move toward the limo. The second man gestured with his chin, his arm extended as he pointed her toward the open rear door of the long vehicle.

"This is kidnapping, and I cannot leave my girlfriend’s car unlocked. She values that car more than me and she kicked me out for it

..." Faye snapped, stopping in her tracks and pointing back at the shiny dashboard.

They allowed her to lock the car. She reached inside, hitting the lock button until the mechanical click echoed in the quiet air, then pocketed the keys with a glare.

Then Faye was led to the limo.

She entered while the two men remained outside. The heavy door shut behind her with a soft, expensive thud, completely cutting off the sound of the wind outside.

"Mr. Star!"

Malo’s voice made Faye turn. She spun around on the leather seat, her eyes adjusting to the dim, luxurious lighting of the cabin.

She looked at him sitting beside her. His face looked so happy, and he was holding a glass of champagne. The golden liquid swirled gently as he raised it toward her with a wide grin.

This was not how Faye expected to find her friend. She had spent the entire night imagining him beaten up in some dark basement, not lounging on plush cushions with a fancy drink.

She was confused, but the joy of seeing her best friend overrode everything else. The tension in her shoulders vanished instantly, a massive wave of relief washing over her.

"Mr. SquarePants!" Faye said as she slid closer to him and hugged him. She threw her arms around his neck, burying her face in his shoulder as she squeezed him tightly.

"I knew it. You were going to look for me," Malo said. He laughed softly, patting her back with his free hand while keeping his glass steady.

"Of course. You didn’t come to school, and your mother is a dick for thinking I was going to buy her stupid lies," Faye said. She pulled back, her hands gripping his arms as she scanned his face for any bruises.

"Hahaha... you really haven’t changed at all. Champagne and expensive steak?" Malo offered his glass to Faye, then a steak on a golden plate with sauce.

"Cough, cough, cough..."

A voice interrupted their reunion.

Faye turned around and saw a man dressed in a black suit. He sat across from them on the wider lounge seat, his posture perfectly elegant as he leaned against the armrest.

He was also holding a glass of champagne. He tilted it slightly toward her, a calm, knowing expression on his young face.

"Hello, mister..." Faye said awkwardly. She cleared her throat, her hands dropping from Malo’s jacket as she tried to fix her messy hair.

Then she leaned toward Malo and whispered, keeping her head low so the stranger wouldn’t see her lips moving.

"Who is this dude?" she muttered. Her eyes darted sideways, her brow furrowing in complete confusion.

"That is our new client," Malo said with a smile. He spoke normally, his voice full of pride as he adjusted his collar.

That boy did not look like someone who had been kidnapped or sold. He looked like he belonged in a high-end corporate office, completely relaxed under the steady gaze of the guards outside.

"The fuck are you talking about? You better explain before I smack you," Faye said, losing her patience. She gritted her teeth, her breathing growing heavy again as the stress of the night started to turn into irritation.

"You are in the presence of Prince Arthur De Rolo. Show your respect to him," another voice said.

It was the man Faye had seen earlier, the one who had led Malo into the car. He had slid into the front seat, turning his head through the partition window to glare at her.

"Huh?"

Faye blinked several times as she looked at the so-called prince. She stared at the sharp jawline and the polished gold cufflinks on his sleeves.

Then she whispered to her best friend again. She nudged his knee with her shoe, her voice dropping into a frantic hiss.

"De Rolo as in De Rolo, De Rolo? The royal family De Rolo?" Faye muttered. Her heart skipped a beat as the name finally registered in her mind.

She used to hear about the De Rolo royal family from the gardener Felix, who had worked for Guru. He used to tell wild stories about their massive estates and the terrifying power they held over the high packs. The Royals were more than an Alpha...

"Yes, that royal family," Malo whispered back. He nodded rapidly, his grin growing even wider as he watched her reaction.

"You know I can hear you from here. Your voices are too loud," Arthur said, his legs crossed as he watched the two kids whispering about him. He took a slow sip from his glass, a faint amusement playing in his eyes.

"Sorry, Your Majesty. She doesn’t have any royal etiquette. She grew up in a snow land," Malo said. He bowed his head slightly, his shoulders dropping into a stiff posture.

His voice had changed too, trying to sound noble. He was pronouncing his words slowly, copying the crisp, formal tone of the people in the front seat.

"What the fuck is happening here, and why are you talking like that?" Faye asked. She stared at him like he had grown a second head, her mouth hanging open in sheer disbelief.

"Again, my apologies for her mannerisms. It’s not her fault but her upbringing," Malo said. He waved his hand dismissively toward her, completely ignoring the glare she was burning into his side.

Faye just stared at him. Her breathing was stuck in her throat, her mind spinning as she tried to process the last hours.

Wasn’t this the guy she had spent all night trying to find? The guy whose parents had locked his brother in a freezer and sold him to a shady foster care operator?

Meanwhile, Malo was subtly signaling for Faye to bow to the prince. He kept flicking his wrist downward, nudging her side with his elbow to get her to lower her head.

"I do not have an issue with her mannerisms. We are not that strict about royalty. So where were we before she interrupted our meeting?" Arthur said, setting down his champagne.

"We were discussing signing a deal with StarPants & Co.," the other man said as he opened a suitcase and pulled out a file.

"The deal will be sealed once you two sign this."

Faye looked completely flabbergasted by what was happening inside the limo. She leaned forward, her eyes scanning the official looking seals at the top of the parchment.

"Sorry to ask, but what kind of deal are we signing here?" Faye asked. Her voice was steady now, her protective instincts shifting into pure suspicion.

"The Beast Morphs deal." Arthur answered simply.

"Huh?" Faye blinked, her shoulders dropping.

"You are going to look for the Beast Morphs for me, and you will be paid in return." The prince explained, his fingers tapping against his knee as he waited for her response.

Faye slowly turned toward Malo.

Her expression clearly said: What the fuck?
