From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 513: Saving Her Husband (Part 3)
Chapter 513: Chapter 507: Saving Her Husband (Part 3)
Chloe Sinclair had been waiting for a while and couldn’t resist looking over. “What’s wrong?”
Ian Winters swallowed hard and shook his head. “N-nothing’s wrong. My legs have just turned to jelly.”
He spoke with a trembling finger, pointing the way. “S-straight ahead.”
Chloe Sinclair got the message and floored it.
Soon, with Ian Winters’s directions, the car finally stopped in front of a collapsed building.
Chloe Sinclair parked and quickly got out of the car. Using her sharp hearing, she pinpointed Jasper Shaw’s location.
The moment she arrived, she heard someone shout, “Hmph, Jasper Shaw, my dad’s about to have his leg amputated! One million! And not a penny less!”
“You’re not leaving until you pay up!” “You think you’re going to walk out of here in one piece?”
“Hurry up and give us the money!”
“Yeah, pay up!”
Chloe Sinclair felt a brief wave of relief that Jasper Shaw was unharmed.
But hearing their demands made her see red.
Jasper Shaw had kindly given these people a month’s salary to help them through their immediate crisis.
But some people were just insatiably greedy.
Once they got a taste, they just wanted more.
‘Without a shred of self-awareness about whether they even deserved it.’
Chloe Sinclair pushed her way through the crowd. She walked up to one of the men and scoffed in his face.
“Dressed head to toe in designer brands, and you have the nerve to claim your family is struggling? Are you insane?”
Chloe Sinclair whirled around to another man. “And you! Money, money, money, that’s all you care about! Why don’t you just go bury yourself in a pile of it?”
With that, Chloe Sinclair shielded Jasper Shaw behind her like a protective mother hen.
“You keep this up, and I’m calling the police.”
“Let me tell you, the cops will have a field day with scum like you. They’ll haul every single one of you in.”
Of course, the kind of people who would corner Jasper Shaw were no saints.
Many of them were just local hooligans.
If Chloe hadn’t spoken so harshly, she wouldn’t have been able to intimidate them at all.
Even so, many of them were still hesitant.
“You think we’ll just believe you?”
Chloe Sinclair sneered. “You don’t? Let me tell you something. Your buddies have all been taken to the station. If you really want to stir up trouble and spread rumors, you’d better think long and hard about how long it’ll take for you to get out once you’re in!”
Chloe spoke with such conviction that many of them started to believe her.
Chloe Sinclair had no desire to waste any more time on this mob. “Instead of demanding money here,” she said, “you’d have better luck demanding it from President Sutton at his home.”
At that moment, Yuna Sutton’s father, Mr. Sutton, had no idea danger was looming. He certainly had no clue how the location of his private residence had been leaked.
It was only when he realized a large crowd was standing outside his house that it belatedly dawned on him what was happening.
“Fuck! Who the hell screwed me over? Why is everyone at my house?!”
Yuna Sutton, all dressed up and ready to go out, was shocked to find a crowd of about a hundred people suddenly gathered at the villa’s gate. Some held banners, others wielded megaphones.
When Mr. Sutton bought the house, his only concern was showing it off, so he’d chosen a property with plenty of neighbors.
With such a large crowd outside the villa, all the neighbors came out, phones in hand, to watch the commotion.
Before long, a video of the scene on TikTok had already garnered over ten thousand likes.
Many people looked it up online and discovered the story was real.
The comment section blew up—
“Shoddy construction projects like this should be illegal!”
“I can understand running out of money, but shoddy construction is absolutely inexcusable, especially when the Sutton Group is so wealthy…”
“Speaking of which, do you guys remember that news story from ten years ago? The Sutton Group was doing contracting work back then. A family moved into an apartment they’d renovated, and less than six months later, they all started having chronic runny noses. They went to the hospital and found out they’d all developed leukemia.”
“I remember that! It was a huge story. I heard the entire family of three died. The investigation eventually found it was due to excessive formaldehyde levels, and the renovation company was none other than the Sutton Group!”
“What’s the person above me trying to say? I don’t quite get it.”
“It basically means the president of the Sutton Group is rotten to the core. He must have deliberately used those shoddy materials!”
“I think this deserves more attention. I saw the news report. Half of the new building collapsed, and there were injuries and deaths.”
“Looks like the Sutton Group is in some serious trouble!”
No one could have predicted that the incident would immediately catch the eye of numerous independent journalists and content creators.
After getting permission from the original poster, countless video channels began reposting the clip.
In an instant, “Sutton Group’s Shoddy Construction” shot to the top of the trending topics.
The Suttons were now huddled in their rooms, trembling, not daring to set foot outside.
