Jasper Shaw’s hand, holding his chopsticks, paused. A flicker of confusion appeared in his eyes.

But then he suddenly started to laugh.

He said half-jokingly, "Last time I went to the hospital, the doctor advised me to be a kept man."

Chloe Sinclair didn’t catch the joke. Hearing that Jasper Shaw had actually gone to the hospital, she immediately grew tense.

Right now, Jasper Shaw was much younger than he would be in ten years, and his physical constitution was also better.

In ten years, Jasper Shaw would suffer from frequent stomach aches due to constant business dinners and drinking.

He had to stick to a bland diet most of the time.

Chloe Sinclair couldn’t bear the thought of her man suffering like that in this life, too.

"You went to the hospital? What did the doctor say?"

A trace of worry was on Chloe Sinclair’s face. She studied Jasper Shaw’s complexion, only letting out a sigh of relief when she saw its healthy, rosy hue.

Jasper Shaw had only been joking and hadn’t expected to worry the young woman.

He didn’t dare joke anymore and quickly said, "I was just teasing you. I’m really fine."

He had a habit of exercising in the morning, so he had always been in excellent health.

The hospital visit was just for the mandatory annual physical required by his superiors.

But no matter how Jasper Shaw tried to explain, Chloe Sinclair remained suspicious.

"How about this? The apartment will be finished by the end of the month. When it is, I’ll get up and exercise with you every morning."

This time, Chloe Sinclair didn’t refuse.

"I get up very early."

Jasper Shaw faltered for a moment. Recalling Chloe Sinclair’s wake-up time on *Country Life*, he gritted his teeth. "I can get up that early."

Only then did Chloe Sinclair relax.

At the table, Jasper Shaw only ate a few light green vegetables, continuously placing pieces of meat from the main dish into Chloe Sinclair’s bowl.

After dinner, they left the private restaurant. Zane Jordan had already been waiting in the car for a while.

He hadn’t eaten with his boss and his girlfriend; instead, he had gone to the noodle shop next door to grab a bite.

When he saw the two of them emerge, he opened the car door.

But this caught Chloe Sinclair’s attention.

Across her two lifetimes, she had only seen Zane Jordan three times—once in her past life and twice in this one.

In her past life, after an error was found in some documents, Zane Jordan had come to the villa. He and several other unfamiliar men had stayed in the study for an entire day and night before emerging.

She had happened to run into them as they came out.

Yet in this life, she had already seen him twice.

The first time was when Jasper Shaw brought men to rescue her. During the fight, Chloe Sinclair had paid special attention to Zane Jordan, and even then, she’d felt he was different from Jasper’s other subordinates.

Zane Jordan had an air of mystery about him.

Besides, his name felt strangely familiar, as if she had heard it somewhere before.

Chloe Sinclair couldn’t quite place it, so after getting into the car, she found herself staring at the back of Zane Jordan’s head.

This, of course, made Jasper Shaw incredibly jealous.

He then pressed the button for the privacy partition, completely separating the front and back seats.

Zane Jordan, who was completely innocent in all this, was left speechless.

’This boss of mine has a few screws loose.’

Chloe Sinclair was also at a loss for words.

’My boyfriend is a little petty.’

So, Chloe Sinclair shot Jasper Shaw a cool glance.

As it turned out, she found Jasper Shaw already looking at her.

Their eyes met in mid-air. Chloe Sinclair stared into his dark, ink-like eyes and froze for a second.

Chloe Sinclair let out a breath and muttered, "So petty."

Jasper Shaw didn’t hear her clearly. "Hm?" he asked. "What did you just say?"

Chloe Sinclair quickly denied it. "Nothing. You must have misheard me."

With that, she turned her head to look out the window.

But her behavior only made Jasper Shaw more suspicious.

The white Bentley’s sleek body blurred into an afterimage as it sped down the silver-grey highway.

Other cars on the road kept their distance, terrified of scratching or bumping it.

「Half an hour later.」

The Bentley slowly pulled into the underground parking garage of the Shaw Group.

Unexpectedly, the moment Chloe Sinclair stepped out of the car, she was met with the endless CLICK-CLICK-CLICK of cameras and flashing lights.

Jasper Shaw instinctively pulled Chloe Sinclair into his arms to shield her. In a low voice, he said, "Zane Jordan."

Zane Jordan’s expression darkened. He moved to block them. "Excuse me, Mr. Shaw and Miss Sinclair are not accepting interviews."

However, forty to fifty reporters and photographers had gathered in the underground garage. Zane Jordan alone had no way of holding them all back.

Jasper Shaw’s face was as black as thunder.

There were no security guards in the underground garage, so no one had noticed the commotion.

Gritting his teeth, Jasper Shaw said in a tone that was practically a snarl, "Zane Jordan, go to the first floor and get security."

Zane Jordan glanced at the horde in front of them, nodded, and quickly broke free from the crowd.

The moment Zane Jordan was gone, the media swarmed forward.

Afraid they would hurt Chloe Sinclair, Jasper Shaw kept backing up with her until they were pressed against a white wall of the garage.

Chloe Sinclair was shielded behind Jasper Shaw, unable to even see the faces of the press.

As a result, the paparazzi hadn’t managed to get a single clear shot of Chloe Sinclair’s face.

Naturally, they weren’t satisfied with going home empty-handed.

As soon as Zane Jordan was gone, the reporters surged forward, their voices overlapping in a chaotic din.

"Miss Sinclair, we heard you’ve already filed a police report. Are you really going to press charges against Silas Sinclair and Liana Marsh?"

"Miss Sinclair, I’m a reporter from Orange Live. On behalf of the netizens and your fans, we’d like to ask: do you really plan on taking legal action against your foster parents?"

"Is it true that your foster parents abused you?"

"We heard that..."

"Silas Sinclair and Liana Marsh may not have been perfect, but they still raised you for so many years. Are you really going to disregard your relationship of all those years...?"

Suddenly, the young woman who had been shielded behind Jasper Shaw stepped forward. Her expression was sharp as she looked down on them, and her red lips parted. "I can give you parents like that. Would any of you like to take them?"

Instantly, a chilling silence fell over the crowd.

Everyone could sense that Chloe Sinclair was angry.

But they couldn’t understand why. They had only asked a few questions, so why was she so angry?

Her attitude immediately drew the reporters’ ire. Now that she had revealed her face, the photographers in front of her began snapping pictures nonstop. CLICK. CLICK. CLICK.

The intense camera flashes lit up the dim parking garage, yet Chloe Sinclair didn’t even blink.

She suddenly fixed her gaze on one reporter and slowly advanced on her. "You’re the one from Orange Live?"

The Orange Live reporter was taken aback, not understanding Chloe Sinclair’s intention.

But she was deeply displeased by Chloe Sinclair’s tone.

She straightened her spine and retorted, "I am. So what?"

Chloe Sinclair said nothing, merely staring at her with eyes as deep and still as an old well. Then, her gaze shifted to the reporter’s phone.

"You’re live-streaming?"

"That’s right. What about it?" The Orange Live reporter saw nothing wrong with it.

At her words, Chloe Sinclair smiled slightly. But as her dark, haunting gaze fixed on the camera lens, everyone present couldn’t help but take a few steps back.

"What about it?" Chloe Sinclair’s face was all smiles as she asked softly, "Did I give you my permission?"

"We’re doing our job here! We have the right to interview you!"

The smile on Chloe Sinclair’s face didn’t falter. She stared into the live feed. "And why, exactly, am I obligated to be interviewed by you?"
